The whole point of having more eyes on code is to detect MORE BUGS. More bugs being reported is a GOOD thing because it means more potential fixes. You can't fix what you aren't aware of. And you can't have more eyes on proprietary code that you aren't allowed to view.

As for the linux client... well, I guess that's irrelevant now. My time used to be split between clients and I guess it'll now be 100% OSX since linux is gone. Until they decide to drop OSX support, that is.

mac support wont be dropped that fast, because
- mac users actually use the official client
- linux users can live without official support, through wine
try wine once, if you have an nvidia card it will probably just work (with one-time ten minutes of work (dlls, fonts, maybe regestry settings))

Naturally using libraries that are os specific makes things hard such as directx. Why go with that over OpenGL? Is there really something that good about it?

Yes

DirectX is easier to code for as Microsoft has done half the work for you, but it takes more resources to render.

Story short, CCP is lazy.

Bingo. It's easy to be lasy about something that has no financial incentive.

You chose an OS that you can manipulate to opperate as you want, which takes up very little memory and runs faster than any other, and is totaly free except for the time you invest in setting it up.

the downside is, it's kinda hard to find games that will play on it.

I'd say it's a fair trade, and the fact that CCP even has a client for Linux is more than most game makers even try. If you're not happy with the linus client, borrow a friends XP reinstalation disk, install it on your comp, and when you're playing eve have your comp run XP, the rest of the time, run Linux. Simple.

Besides, classic runs faster, running faster on a machine that runs faster by default gives you a massive edge, so why complain about it?

In response to the OP:
