I think that this needs fixing, you blow up some ones ships that logged and then they blow up, the pod doesnt appear, its gone. I think this needs to be fix.

Drop a can and use it as a JIP buoy and camp the spot until they log back on.

It's not an exploit. It's lame, but not an exploit. There are some things being proposed to change it though. Check the dev blogs.

As a carebear though, I'll say this. If I am in a firefight chances are I didn't choose it, and you are attacking me while I have on miners. In that situation you are already blowing up my ship, and now you want me to sit there and lose my implants too?

All so you can have 5 minutes of fun and set my game experience back a month or two?

Get ready to be disappointed. If it comes to ruining my day, or ruining yours, the choice is an easy one for me. I'll log off and play something else for a while, or log on an alt or something. Eventually you will get bored of camping and leave.

Is it lame? Yes, but so is the fact that I was mining in the first place. You and your kind have already made it plain that I am the lamest of the lame because I am not an ebil pirate to start with. the mere fact that there are miners in the game seems to set your blood boiling and turn your scream o'meter up to shriek. So nice seeing you, games not fun right this minute, so bye.

Don't like it? well stop attacking people. It's one thing to toll someone, and quite another do just look for easy pod kills in empire because you are too afraid to play with the big boys in 0.0. So I'll be lame. Not as lame as someone attacking a defenseless person and claiming to be into PvP, but lame none the less. You can have my ship, but unless I started the fight, thats all.

If I picked the fight on the other hand, all bets are off, I'll take my medicine and go down burning. I'll make damn sure to try and take you with me though.

Adriana , it's all about the fun , some people just enjoy the grief factor too much .
Tank , it may be slowing down your pod kill rate but it's not like anyones actually catching up with you Smile

I think its a exploit, most people wont pay ransom for ships as there insured, but you cant insure implants, and when you catch somone with plants they normaly pay 30mil + Cool

Lol, i hear that....

but back on topic...

Its not just miners and such that log.... a couple of us had a member of Rome log as his ship was blown up after we got in a rumble with his raven.... bearing in mind my gangmate was at war with them.
You can bet that anyone who logs has implants... without implants being podded is merely minor setback, unless of course u got like 20+ jumps to go, then its quite a handy time saver.Laughing

If a pirate pods you without even trying to get you to pay up to save your soul then it is as much their loss as it is yours. 30 mil or a corpse I can sell for 50k... hmmm tricky decision, but people should get some practise pod warping, it is very easy to warp out as soon as your ship gets destroyed and before anyone can get a lock on you.

Only big ship I ever lost was a Dominix , was a one on one fight. Me with 6 miner2's mounted , his Dominix with 6 large guns and more drones than I could count. This was before the auto warp away. If I had that option I sure would have taken it. Miner 2's were still selling near 5 mil each back then.
He had already run away from the mining party I had been with , after he attacked it and found it well armed he ran like the lag exploiting coward he really is. He got lucky and caught me alone later. If I had gotten away from him by whatever means was available it woulda just made us even.
This particular little bi'atch has since bought battleships and minerals from me off the market , I wonder what he would fly around in if there were no miners , and exactly who would he have to shoot at ? Seeing as how he ran as fast as he could from a couple cruisers with weapons .
All you supposed PvP "experts" can whine all you want but I for one hope all the unarmed miners you attack to prove your expertise use the log off option and save their pods at least. 3 days later when you're whiney arses are shopping for a new ship cuz one of those miners had friends , I hope you find one. I hope they built it and that you have to pay 10 mil over market for it so he can get back some of the ISK you cost him . There is no financial gain to killing the pod of an anonymous miner so you really have no valid complaint when one happens to get away from you.Rolling Eyes

I gang warped to somebody yesterday in my blackbird, smack into the enemy blob, got killed in an instant, but the lag was so bad I knew I couldnt have saved my pod so I had to logoff. I think this is fair, I've lost lots of ships before and never once have I had to logoff to save my pod, but this lag was so bad, I felt it necessary.
Without lag, its nearly impossible to lose your pod, just click on a warpable place like mad, and your away. Why should I let my pod die because the lag was so bad I couldnt do this? Unless CCP sort out the lag when you lose your ship to a big gank fleet, it'll still happen.

Regardless of the fact that it is probably an exploit to do it intentionally, there is NOTHING CCP can do to stop it. Even if they coded the client to distinguish between a manual quit and a disconnect, people would just pull their network cable, as they have for ages in RTS 1 vs. 1s.

BW

PS. And yes, having at least you pod saved in the case of a legitimate disconnect and/or CTD seems fair, so it's a moot issue. ANd yeah, I've been just as frustrated by people writing "see ya" in local and then logging off. It sucks, but what do you do?

I see nothing lame about this. The only value in killing the pod is to keep you from warning others and if your logged off than thats no longer an issue. I say take advantage while you can. Just like ill keep taking advantage of the fact that a ship fit for mining cant really fight backLaughing

3 out of 4 GMs think it is an exploit.

It is an exploit but not easy to prove. If a player logs of in combat he uses a feature that should help players that have a CTD. Simulating this CTD is using a game feature to safe a ship. Itīs not only lame and cowardly - it is definitvly an exploit and most GMs try to punish players using this. Some GMs (they also have some carebears Wink) see things different and talk for hours if we petition people betraying us and "stealing our loot and time". I hope the game will be fixed soon and ships will disapear after 3 minutes - not earlier. Some really cowardly Norads use jump&log off to break blockades. My opinion is that this sort of players shouldnt be welcome in an onlinegame. We use hours and hours to nail these guys and they can cheat whith this simple trick. 1 of them did it when we attacked him in frigs ShockedShockedShocked...how lame is this to log if you get attacked by some frigs and sit in a BS??? These 5 players attacking him in frigs risk their implants and he has nothing to loose, can log off anytime! Norad, once the game is fixed you guys will suffer, i swear you will - there will be no tolling, be sure!
