Edited by: Ra''Vir on 17/12/2008 18:09:30 Eve no longer automatically downloads patches for me. It's been like this for at least a month and affects both the classic and premium clients. I just end up with "Incompatible protocol" showing on the login screen. Clicking connect doesn't download a patch.
I have to go to eve patches page and download the patch manually.
Is this just affecting me? Anyone know what's wrong? I've tried reinstalling the game but it didn't help. I don't have a firewall up or anything like that. Though I am behind a router with standard settings.
I should also add that the IGB doesn't work, it just shows "URL Error HTTP Error 400: Bad Request". This does sound like automatic patching and the IGB are using some blocked port, but like I said, my router is using standard settings and I have no outgoing ports blocked.
Is Eve using some weird NAT traversal that isn't compatible with my router? Does it need some special inbound ports open and redirected to this machine? |

The updating is just plain, vanilla HTTP. Nothing magical, nothing special, just port 80. What are your Internet Options proxy settings? |

I have no proxy setup in the Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections window. IE can browse the web fine...
Where does Eve pull/store proxy settings from? Somewhere in the registry? |

Okay so here's a weird thing. If I VPN into work, then suddenly the IGB in Eve (and presumably auto patching) starts working.
So it looks like Eve has picked up the proxy server for when I'm running under VPN and is trying to use that all the time, even when I'm not connected to the VPN. If I bring up my VPN settings and turn off the proxy in there, Eve's IGB still doesn't work.
So maybe I ran Eve while connected to the VPN and it copied those proxy settings off somewhere and is using them all the time? |

This sounds a lot like a problem a corp mate of mine is having, please pursue this further. |

CCP Explorer, could you give me any more information about where Eve gets its proxy settings from? |
