I'm not 100% sure on the scaling of the ships, but that's the size of the models in the game files.
I'd be interested in knowing from CCP if the 3D models are rescaled when they are rendered in-game, or if they are directly imported as the size they are?

Lord Regulus: Yes I used TriExporter, and hours worth of converting models, textures and setting up shaders.
That's really cool.

One thing I don't get though, if all the size information is in the game files, why does the game overview get it so horribly wrong? e.g. all Battleships except the Apocalypse and Abaddon are smaller than Battlecruisers, and all are 500m in length.... Confused

That's fantastic, thanks.

Really wish there was a ships-bridge-window view camera ( doesn't have to be a proper cockpit view ) where everything was scaled human-size, that'd make some massively impressive videos for one thing.

Because the "size" column gives you signature size, not ship size.

UPDATE: The chart now has corrected ship dimensions and Strategic Cruisers.
I have put 4 variations of each strat cruiser, each with different subsystems (inculding the new 4th subsystems).
There are also a few other various tweaks.

So, I heard a rumor that you were going to do a sub-capital version (for those of us who want to actually see the frigates)...

Is that at all true?

Alexis

I'd LOVE that. The current one is beautiful. I've got a 1m X .5m one on my wall, and even at that size, you can't make our any real detail below a BS.

Yes it's true, at some point in the future I will make a sub cap version, and probably at an aspect ratio that will make it good for wallpapers. Can't promise when it will be done though.

Nice Cool
I've seen another person with a printed version of the chart.

I also released a .psd version of the chart not too long ago that should be good for printing, and I've just updated the original post here with a link to the .psd

Hey Davik, I finally got it printed and framed, it's now hanging in my bedroom as it was the only room I had enough wall space for it. I left the powerpoint in the frame to give a sense of scale to the size it printed out to. I've measured it up and it's approximately 1.8 metres high and 0.8 metres wide. Which for the non-metric among you is about 5.9 feet high and 2.6 feet wide.

Figured out that Exployer has some sort of trouble loading something that big, firefox worked fine.

Quick question, where did you get the sizes you used? I did a ship comparison to RL things (and some sci fi as well) and the size seems to be double what they should actually be.

See the comparisons here

Looking at the Iterons on this chart just reinforces my opinion that CCP have a borked look-up table. I mean, seriously; look at them. It's obvious that the IV should be the I, I the II, II the III, III the IV. I think they just made this mistake early on in development and now refuse to own up to it. Razz

Either that, or the IV comes equipped with a TARDIS in the hold, a not entirely ridiculous idea, considering the loopy volume mechanics of Secure Containers.

Have you ever seen the IV? They are extra wide, where every other iteron iteration is a spaghetti.

Awesome work!

Any word on when we might see alternate versions that at least do not include Titans, if not cutting out all capitols?

It's rather difficult to see the little frigates that I spend most of my time in on this chart. Still, I took the image to a 1hr photo, and they were able to print it out for me, looks awesome!

Keep up the good work.

It is a really nice job, beautiful one too.

Is it me or the jpg seems sharper than the psd ?

BTW, I *WILL* print it, a 1,8m high version. So, I want to get my hands on the sharpest version Cool

I am holding out for the subcap thing as well, I decided not to fly anything bigger than battlecruisers, but I can hardly make out my favourite ships now.

Still, it is awesome!

From what I can tell the only difference between the two is there's no jpeg corruption on the psd version.
The psd should be just as sharp as the jpg, the jpg is taken straight from the psd after all.

And the subcap chart is on the way, however it will get done when it gets done, I'm not currently playing eve and I'm busy with school stuff. So the shipchart currently has a much lower priority than everything else.
I'm also waiting for the new fighter bomber models to show up on the Singularity client so I can extract them, I currently only have the Gallente and Caldari bombers.
The size of the ships on the subcap chart is about 3x bigger than the current chart. With no capitals at all.
