I created a new account for myself using the 21 day buddy invite thing, I made the new account active last night, it's now over 24 hours later but my main account still hasn't received the 30 days free game time for the "buddy" signing up.

My main account has been inactive for around a fortnight- does this mean that I can't get my free game time? If not then why not or what do I do to fix this?

Cheers!

wish i had something more concrete but your best bet is to petition it, as only GM's will really have an official answer for you.

good luck

Thanks for the replies- does anyone know a CCP email address that I could use to report this? Petitioning from this account means that I'd have to give out all of the info for my main account which seems troublesome Sad

If I remember correctly, the terms & conditions specified that you had to use a credit card to active the "buddy" account... possibly your problem could be that using the GTC doesn't qualify as a "proper" signup?

Edit: Alt post ftl :(

I would hazard a guess that your main account had to be active to receive the time.

If they said you go the time then you should've gotten the time. Have you check the actual expiration date on your account from the "my account" page? Otherwise respond to the e-mail or file a petition.

[email protected] is one e-mail you could use.

if you read the thing carefully (The buddy program) It CLEARLY states that GTCS don't count.

Your "buddy" has to pay $19.95 in order for u to get 30 days.

If you read carefully

"Eligible subscription activations can be funded by any payment method "

So stfu - (GTC is a means of payment.)

So where exactly does it "CLEARLY state" GTCs don't count dumbass.

It's unfortunate that the current Buddy Program description says so, because the original EVE news specifically stated that GTCs are not valid for this offer.

buddy program now offers extended game time
reported by CCP Loktofeit | 2008.11.17 18:24:00

The Buddy Program has been updated with new incentives for all parties involved. Players can now invite friends to EVE for an extended 21-day Trial, and for each trial user that becomes a subscriber, the person that invited them will get an extra 30 days of game time added to their account. Invite form and detailed information can be found on the Buddy Program page in Account Management.

Each Active Subscription Account (trial accounts do not qualify for this promotion) can send Buddy Program invites.
Only accounts created through this emailed invite are valid for this offer. Be sure your friends use the invite to create their account in order for you to earn your game time when they subscribe to EVE Online.
Eligible subscription activations can be funded by any payment method except EVE Time Codes.
Trial accounts must subscribe within one week following the trial expiration to qualify for the promotion.
Please note that once your friend purchases an EVE Online subscription, your 30 free days may take up to 24 hours to be applied.
Buddies must activate their 21-day trial no later than December 1st.
Buddies must purchase a subscription to EVE online within 7 days of their trial expiring, in order for your free 30 days to be awarded.

Offer valid until December 1st. Don't miss out!

Better take a screenshot and petition it ASAP before CCP declares the "normal" Buddy Program and unintended bug that they've corrected with the November newsitem Sad

Oh, and WTF is wrong with you attacking posters that are trying to help out? ugh You didn't deserve the hint...

... but meh. Good luck with your petition. Tell them to look for it in the Ghost Training bin when you contact them again a month from now to hear about your petition.

If we want to nitpick, and we wouldn't be GD if we didn't, GTC, while a valid payment method for continuing account activity, isn't "payment method" regarding starting a NEW account.

New accounts need to "buy" the game.

You can activate trials -> reals(+30days) with GTCs.

Am I the only one here still naive enough to think that CCP will care that the OP is probably violating the spirit of the "refer a buddy" program by referring themself on a new account? I mean I'm just asking Rolling Eyes

If i remember correctly, the 30 day GTC doesn't give you 30 days of gametime though. It reduces the appropriate amount of gametime from the code to compensate the peni...buying cost.

"Violating the spirit"... yeah, right- the "spirit" of the program is for CCP to get more paid accounts signed up- period. CCP get more money from me as a result of their promotion so I don't think they're gonna have a problem with it. Besides, it'd be excluded in the terms & conditions if you weren't allowed to do it and I know that I'm not the only person to have done it.

So, in conclusion- yes, you're the only one Wink

1) The original press release and info said NO GTCS
2) This was changed about 4 days later
3) The system is bugged atm - it shows "30 days added to account" on your tracking screen but no days are added
4) Petition under billing with a) the refereers character name and b) the 'buddy' characters name
5) Get 30 days added - check it is added sometimes your expiry date simply moves on 30 days with no track of why in the list of account activities
6) As always, my full appreciation of the GMS of eve who proved time and time again to be the shiny pearl in ccps gloopy oyster.
