Of course no small dedicated corp has ever done anything discussion worthy in EVE Online.

I dont have much sympathy for most complaining over this. However i think that if a corp is in an alliance (of over 10 people) it shouldn't matter how many people are in the corp. As they are in an alliance the obviously have a say, the executor corp of many alliances is an example, though they are usually alts.

Mission runners from Stain have an important political perspective that this change to COAD will supress! Oh snap, wasn't that the point though.

Nah, really, it's better this way - you can join research alliances very cheaply (I should know, har), and we'd just have 1-man CAOD alt corps in research alliances instead of 1-man CAOD alt corps just as now

You do realize that corps with less than 10 member would still be able to freely post in every other forum?

I suppose you want most that which you cannot have. Especially if you used to take that thing for granted. (Oddly enough, my 2nd wife taught me that. So I divorced her too.)

Yeah, lame as hell. Ban alt-corps whose single purpose is to get around the posting rules and spam nonsense, but you already have forum rules against spamming to deal with that. Here's a better idea: use the existing rules to ban spammers/trolls/etc, and allow anyone with something constructive to add to the discussion to post, regardless of how many people are in their corp.

Not that this rule is really going to do anything... if I ever feel the need to post in CAOD I'll just make a few trial accounts and put the characters in my corp. Thanks for making me go through that pointless exploit, making your new rule nothing but a pointless annoyance. Didn't anyone ever teach you game design 101? You know, the part where pointless annoyances are bad?

Yeah I was gonna say something along those lines. CAOD is the stinking sewer it is today because of all the major corps and alliances playing emo mind games in it. How in the hell is this change supposed to fix that? Neutral

Simple solution:

Forum warnings and bans should be for accounts, not characters, and should be given much more easily for bad COAD posts. Deleting a character doesn't delete warnings, and warnings will last for 5 years. Bans will start at 3 warnings instead of 8 (or 10?) as it is now. Permabans are permabans, not 2 year bans. Warnings however should fade after 2 years. People should learn to live with the consequences of their actions if they get banned.

If multiple people of a corp have been warned or banned, warn or ban all members of that corp (2-week ban for everyone), or alliance.

So does that mean you will clean up all forums, I know that is what you said, but, I often see people get warned and censored for one type of offense, and then just a few posts down even worse type of post, and nothing happens to them.

So, lets hope that you will treat all the offenses equally - because I see great amount of "selective" moderation.

Best of luck to in actually creating non-hostile forum environment, I can say that anyone who flames, trolls, abuses people on forums should receive an automatic ban for 14 days. No exceptions, no "lesser offenses", no selective moderation.

I can understand the CAOD nerf since indeed, half the posts in there are alt trolls (and dont get me started on the 5 man alt-wardec corps), but how about a new forum catering to legit smaller corps? One of the big problems with eve is littler corps often feel left out, it would be nice for people who arent puppets for a 1000+ member mega alliance to engage in drama.

This, smaller corps and alliances can not post anyway without a barrage of insults and "wth are you?" comments so why not make two seperate forums one for alliances and one for corps?

That's funny Kaeten, maybe you should look up Ednas history Wink

This is a good move from CCP, CAOD may be a cess pool atm, but that is largely due to 1 man alt corps posting such gems as "lol we pwnzrd you noobs", "fail more", "we is uber", "look at the size of my killboard fool" and "does this smell wrong" etc

Most CEO's would kick the smack talking idiots if they posted with their mains.

Good move CCP.

The irony of this, is that the people using alt corporations to post on in CAOD, are alts from major alliances. While people from small corporations who might want to engage in legitimate discussion are stopped from posting at all.

Plus most nonsense in CAOD seems to be posted on people's mains.

What if a 9-man corp achieves something excellent and thrilling? What if they manage to pull off an amazing coup against a larger corp? Are they to be silenced simply because they dare to be compact?

I suppose it can be posted in warfare and tactics, c&p, or elsewhere

Even under the old rules, unless you had done something extremely impressive, your topic would be spammed to death by the "who cares, you're a small corp" CAOD forum warriors

This was what I was alluding to earlier.

If I recall correctly, there was a time when Burn Eden were causing all sorts of mayhem in CAOD through using guerrila tactics, with just a few active members.

As much as some people hated them at the time, it was still interesting (and funny). With this new rule a small corp doing something similar wouldn't even be able to post about it.

CCP shouldn't be telling people how to play the game, if people want to run a small corporation, that should be their choice and it should be seen as just as meritous as running a large one.

CAOD is about corporations and alliances, there is no reason why discussion should be exclusive to what happens in the large alliances. Those people who attack smaller corporations for trying to engage in discussion should be treated as trolls, just like the stupid alts. Never previously have I seen it explicitly stated that CAOD is for "major Corporations and Alliances to discuss political and military conflict throughout the New Eden Galaxy."

Maybe eventually CAOD will be just called the 'Acronym A VS Acronym B smacktalk forum'.

Though often having felt for replying to topics in CAOD, i've sofar refrained from it due to the smacking and derailing that the "area" has allways been known for. IF the initiatives set in motion should have the effect that CCP wants, i can't see the problem (though i must admit i'll remain skeptic on that till proven wrong).

As for the 10+ members pr corp cap, i think that's pretty ok, though maybe it could be combined with a (i.e.) 50+ Alliancemember cap?

This change is one I will fully support as though I have no interest to post (or possibility)in CAOD I would like for it to be a place where you can get a little info on how things are moving in the big player conflicts.

I seem to remember better times in CAOD that currently, and I hope for a return to those times.
