Unless what I've been told is completly off the mark with me being a highsec dweller.
A single titan has the mineralcost of 40-50 dreads. If spotted and primaried by 30++ dreads that titan drops quite fast. Making the risk reward ratio for fielding them a bit nasty.

So in large scale engagements they become fragile and quite risky to use from an economic PoV?

At least thats what I was told , and I have this sneaking suspicion that its part of the reason why you never see "fleets of titans" like some in this thread are talking about.

I feel that Titans are just fine they way they are. That have already been nerft twice in the last 3 years.

That being said I know its coming. I know by the time mine is built and Im flying it theres going to be a nerf.

If I had to chose one then I want the One Shot Dooms day. The need to target and then fire a beam of destruction that will kill anything it hits.

Or turn the DD mode into a siege mode that makes the titan have a faster lock time, only one lock at a time, and a 10000x Damage modification to the guns or missile (sorry levi titan flyers) so it has the same affect.

One shot one kill, low rate of fire, but faster then 60mins.

This would pose a fantastic problem. two titans warp in on each other and BOOM!!!! titan shoot out.

Perhaps Super caps with be emune to DD as well as EW. that would only make it far, but not as fun.

Simple solution: when a titan uses a DD, its warp engines take a period of time to recover from the massive expenditure of energy/resources funneled into the DD i.e. 10 minutes.

This will cut out the drive-by DDs and force use of the DD to become more tactical, perhaps in turning the tide in a fleet battle.

I don't like to troll....but, are you joking, I can't tell. 10mins locked in place like a cyno. = never going to see a DD happen ever again. thats just asking to get ganked.

The result would be that no one use a DD ever again, but the two or three biggest alliances would keep building them, until they can field a self-sufficient fleet of 50+ titans, that would have no trouble covering each other against anything, vulnerability window or not.

hell the next idea CCP will have is the ability to disable gates by shooting at them...
which would cut off access to systems for 30mins or more.

it'd be great if CCP killed the DD idea and remade the titans with a heap more space on them... seriously!! when will we ever see more than 8 high slots? why not make the titan a mobile weapons platform and multi-target the titan to take out single weapons off it? disabling ships instead of just shoot to kill?

35 turrets? with limited capacity on each for small/medium/large gun mounts? maybe CCP will go freelancers way and just put limiters on what ships can mount instead of the power/cpu. from all i know the modules requirements from s/m/l jump heaps yet if they were realistic it'd take more or less to fit on certian ships which are currently shown in bonuses.

I'd probably redesign the outfitting mechanism so that not only fittings be modular but the parts of the ships (wings, engines, shielding) as well, i've seen the idea work on Tarr Chronicles where ships streamlined their shape in regards to what you fit.

BTW, i'm actually a creative director so as a key element in the role my work requires me to find the good and the bad ideas then mix and match them into a single working component.

my 2 cents:
Option 1)
- no cloacking devices allowed
- no DD when a cyno jammer is online (exceptions: sov4 constellation capitals)

Option 2)
a more drastic change:
- DD works like a cyno field (stuck for like 5 minutes, no DD in cynojammed systems)

You're insane if you think the cutoff point for absurdity is 'a limited number of titans on each side'. If Titans had their concept implemented properly, there should only be two or three in the entire game. As it stands, most of these threads that complain about Titans are not only long overdue but make pretty bad arguments.

Aside from their visual size, there is nothing about Titans that is worth saving, and I'm going to laugh pretty hard when the supposed overhaul comes, goes, and fails.

The fix is: Doomsdays kill all your shields and armor but can't scratch hulls. Wich means you can't stack DDDs and wipe fleets, only hurt them by large amounts. End of titan whorage.

CCP always fit guns on their titans in the expansion trailers. I'd assume any updates to Titans would encourage the use of XL guns.

A limit to doomsdays over time is dumb. It will be abused to hell by alliances with multiple titans just firing off DD's to stop the other side doing it.

Making titans into some sort of outpost is dumb. It's a ship to be flown, and while it should provide some form of support role to a fleet thats no reason it should lock 50bn ISK and a character into providing all the functionalty of a POS.

I'm going to post an edited version of this because I still think its the fairest way:

The doomsday needs to be replaced with something that ensures the titan is still deployed onto a battlefield and kept there for more time than it takes to align out, still has a unique and powerful role, but doesn't win a fight solo. Making the doomsday scriptable would also add a new tactical dimension to a fight. It means titans are more flexible and would be used (and therefore destroyed) more often in combat.
Here are the ideas I like:

AoE e-war
A racial e-war effect that requires the titan to stick around in a fight to work. Ideas that have already been mentioned include:
Warp scrambling,
MWD inhibition,
Webification,
ECM pulses,
Cap percentage-based energy neutralizing effect,
A form of heat damage to modules that disables them over time.

Weakened Doomsday
Like a hybrid of current doomsdays and smartbombs. Low damage pulses over a massive range designed to counter drones, fighters, frigates and finish off capsules. A real 'anti-blob' weapon that doesnt require a blob to counter it.

Focused Blast
The doomsday acts as a special siege module, immobilising the titan for x amount of time but giving it a massive RoF+damage modifier to its XL weapon modules. Useful to turn the tide in capital battles and actually makes the Racial Titan weapon bonus useful. For obvious reasons this has a much lower cycle time than a siege module, with 60 seconds being realistic.
This script will require a cooldown before being used again.

Remote Interference
Similar to the siege module effect above, when this script is fired upon a target it does no damage, but prevents all remote assistance modules (armour, shield and energy transfers) being used on it for as long as the titan keeps the script active. Now the titan can be used to help kill other supercaps or finish off strategic starbase targets, but must be committed to a fight to do so.

None of these scripts will wipe out an opposing fleet solo, and require the titan to be used alongside a support fleet to be effective.

Deployment

And as a side note, I would also like to see a new hi-slot 'Deployment Mode' module for motherships and titans. This is activated and burns fuel akin to a Rorqual's industrial core, possibly with some fancy graphical transformation for the ship.
Once active it has the following effects:
Increases the regular maximum refitting range and maximum users of the ship maintainence bay,
Gradually regenerates the shield, armour, hull, drone, capacitor and module HP for all gang members within 5km - provided they are not locked by another entity,
Allows use of ammunition-only production lines inside the mothership or titan.

i kinda like the idea of some kind of AOE ewar. caldari ecm's everyone on grid, amarr neuts everyone on grid, gallente damps and scrams everyone on grid and minnie... i dunno, paints and webs everyone on grid? and maybe make the ewar a 5-minute cycle

if DDD remains as it is, it'd be nice to see some additional limitations thrown on it, like requiring siege mode to use it. it would add an element of risk, as you'd have to be prepared to commit to a fight if you wanted to use it. such a limitation would restrict the use of the DDD to a pre-emptive strike on an assembled fleet, or a means of turning the tide if the enemy gets the upper hand

basically, change the DDD from a one-size-fits-all solution to one that you have to choose carefully when to deploy. as it currently stands, you can bring a titan to the edge of the grid, light off the DDD, warp off, cloak up, then wait for the timer to tick down and cyno out.

Nice idea - tho due to "bump ze titan" range could be 15km aswell (getting into 2km from titan to use bridge is pain atm)

you can easily avoid getting doomsdayed. Take into consideration that there is alwayws the chance that you loose a multi-billion isk ship when doing it.

Talking about this topic should be done be those who actually have experience with fights with Titans. You are not an expert about doomsdays because you were killed 1-2 times by one (omg, nerv the rats, they killed my NPC Raven).

Look at the fight in the north. Both parties have multiple titans. Noone whines "nerv the titans". Both parties know how to use/avoid Titans. Sooner or later the first titans will die and one partie can claim a big partial victory then.

ISk != effectiveness.

Simplest thing to do is give dd a sig radius, and make it so you cant rapid fire several dds on the same grid. Problem solved.

It doesnt need to instapop support, just damage them and make it easier for your support to do cleanupVery Happy

Not so simple, would require a major overhaul of CCP's database. According to them it gets very angry when you try to place a player inside of another player in the DB.

Wait wait wait wait... I thought titans already where immobile and un-jumpable for 10 minutes after firing a DD.
