Using Windows XP.

As you may read in other posts, I, like many, many other posters here, have problems connecting to the game with the latest 64551 EVE client : Connection timeouts on logins; "Authentificating" process freezing at 100% or at bulk data 25/36, etc.

However, thinking about it, when I install the client I usually perform of a custom install, as I have a secondary HD for games/movies/music and a primary HD for Windows and program files. The path offered by default is C:/Program Files/CCP/EVE. Instead I install it on D:/Games/EVE or D:/Games/CCP/EVE.

I feel that maybe I am doing something wrong in the installation, as my "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility" is completely empty after installation; no folder for settings or cache are to be found there.

So my questions are:

a) Should I install the game only on the default path?

b) Should I leave the final folder to "EVE", or rename it to "EVE Online"?

Thanks for helping me resolve that issue! Smile

in short:

a) Ive never had a problem installing eve using a non-default location. My Eve installs over the last 5+ yrs have never been on my C: drive, so im thinking that is not your problem.

b) I always try to keep my folder names as short as possible d:\ccp\eve d:\ccp\sisi d:\ccp\eve2 etc...

With regard to your missing files in:

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

If your Eve install is on the D: drive the files should be in:

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\d_games_eve.....
or
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\d_games_ccp_eve

as the path above will reflect the actual location of Eve on your PC

Oddly, I succeeded in connecting, even reaching for the ship in space mode. What I did is the following :

a) Open Logserver and start a new log task
b) Open the EVE Execute from the EVE folder
c) Alt + Enter to enter windowed mode
d) Move the EVE screen around to make sure Logserver is visible
e) Enter my log in.

Result: Logged in like a charm. It's even less laggy than when I succeeded in fullscreen mode. All I did beforehand was desactivating sound hardware acceleration from the settings.Shocked

However, even after logging in successfully, the "c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility" folder remains empty. So I am a bit lost. ugh
