Do you play other games on this computer as well which are GPU heavy? Sounds like your graphics card is dieing. Try downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card anyway.

I too am experiencing repeated crashes, on a new laptop with no issues prior to the latest patch Sad. Here's hoping today's patch/hotfix will solve this.

I too am crashing since the patch and I also have an Nvida geforce 8 series but I have the 8800 GTS 512 on a Vista 64 OS. It happens at undocking and causes a BSOD. Upon reboot Windows reports that the video driver card caused the crash.

I had this problem before and had to use a beta driver from Nvida to get it to go away. But after this patch that driver would crash and all other drivers Nvida has to offer crash.

175.16 May 6, 2008 is the beta driver I had to switch to in order to stop the crashing before. But after this patch it began crashing.

178.13 September 25, 2008 is the latest offered and it crashes quite often. Not every undock but pretty much.

I have also tried 175.19 June 23, 2008 with no improvement.

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

I also play Warhammer Online and other games but I do not know how graphic intensive they are in relation to Eve. Neither War nor the others have caused a video related BSOD yet.

I am out of ideas on how to fix this problem. And I can't play eve if I can't undock. (And I am not in Jita!) I see we have a patch today. I don't see where it says that it addresses any video issues but I will patch when I get home and see if it changes things.

1) disable SFX
2) esc | display and graphics | advanced | set present interval = one
does either of those help

Been away from eve for a month, install new patch, get ingame, decide to go on a trip, undock and all suddenly space gets pixilated and game freezes.
According to Event viewer, this is what happend.
The driver nv4_disp for the display device was stuck in a infinite loop" :(

EVE worked fine previously to the patch, now it's fubared. After a boot i start EVE again, and even at the login screen it gets pixilated again :(

Im using a 8800GTX card.

Since last patch i get same problems, at least similar as you get. If i stay inside station EVE seem be able to run forever but problems come as fast i leave station and do something outside. Usually EVE start to get strange looking textures and after a short while it hang whole computer and only thing to do then is to use reset buton on chassi. Dunno if it is graphic card specific or drivers or EVE itself? But i have tried several versions of forceware and i have tried to reinstall EVE as Basic and Premium, and still i get crashes. Darn annoying tbh! I changed graphic card (from GF 8800 GTS to a GF GTX 260) aprox at the same moment as latest patch came out so it is hard to point on where problem lie?

I just had this happen to me Monday night, as well. I had a similar problem back in April, and solved it with the latest drivers.

I'd been having an occasional problem with loss of graphics -- my screen would go pink. So, I upgraded everything last Friday. Monday, it crashed to blue screen twice, while I was in PvP. Lost a dominix up in Venal. :(

I've submitted a petition. We'll see what they say.

I'm running geforce 6800 gt and assumed that my graphics card was just dying. However, it seems i'm not the only one having this problem. I can't get past the initial login screen; it seems as soon as i move the mouse the screen pixelates then the computer freezes up.

Same problem.. although mine doesnt pixelate it just freezes and reboots im not exactly sure what the problem is if its the sound or a graphics issue causing it. or if its the drivers. since its a laptop i cant get to nvidia to download it since they tell me to install the manufacturer drivers and point me away..

I have same symptoms except I have a Saphire radeon 4870.
The only time it happens to me is when I am in large fleet battles. All other aspects of game (ratting/missions) I have no problem. I am going to try and reduce premium settings to classic and reduce general settings in ati panel to see what happens. Some people I know are suggesting the pixillation is caused by vid card over heating.

Also a Sapphire 4870 here with the same problem. I have installed ATI tray tool to setup fan control profiles to take over from catalyst control center and so far no crashes (although fan is considerably noisier as it has to go up to 45% at times now). The weird thing is, is that according to the temperature readings from the card, cpu and mobo, nothing was getting scarily hot (card only gets up to 60c (is rated for much higher than that afaik)).

It is only eve that causes this problem (pixellated block crash), far cry 2 and cod4 are fine (with or without ati tray replacing ccc).

Vista 64, asus p5q, intel e8500, catalyst 8.11.

edit: Can now pretty much confirm this is not a cooling problem. It ONLY occurs in Eve and when it happened 5 minutes ago, temp's were 50c on the gpu and WELL below average on cpu and mobo.

I had my computer (athlon 3200, windows xp, ati hd3650 agp) crashing randomly while playing eve especially inside stations so bad that I needed to hard reboot. After a lot of different tricks that I tried ( the whole list is in older thread I'm too lazy to link) I found a solution and now I haven't experienced a single crash in eve. What worked for me was underclocking my GFX card by 20%.

Well I tried setting up faster fan speed and gpu heat dropped from 68c to 38c by increasing fan speed to 58%. Still got screen locks. Last night I couldn't even log into Eve and then UT2004 started locking up also.
So I went and flashed the 4870's bios to newer version and I could play both UT2004 and EVE with no lockups. I'll have to play some more before I judge the bios flash a success.

Yeah definitely let us know if any joy. My 4870 is the 512meg version and bios version currently is 011.006.000.003.

Patched my 4870's bios as well yesterday just after my last post and no crashes yet at all. Bios version is now: 011.010.000.002. Will post back here if it does crash again with pixellated squares. If it does work, it might be worth looking at bios stuff for the other ATI cards mentioned in this thread.

I played 3-4 hours last night and no freeze ups. So it looks like 2 of us are having positive results. I'll also post back here if any problems occur.

I too am having this problem with a sapphire 4850 ATI card. I get small pixilated squares all over the screen. I use to get it before the patch also, but not as frequent. But now I cant even play the game solid for more than 5 minuets before it freezes the pc and I have to do a hard reboot.

Only happens when I play Eve can play fallout 3 with ultra high settings and its all ok and will go all day.

I cleared my cache folder and now eve is running again

Not sure if this might work for you but it certainly worked for me Very Happy

Here is how you could clear it ingame and out of game How to clear cache

Thanks ccp for the help

Don't think that is the same issue Amoun. The client would start generally and crash at a random time thereafter and I had tried clearing the cache with no joy. However, I am happy to report that I have not had the pixellated graphics crash now on my 4870 since I updated the bios 3 days ago and it was happening 3 or 4 times a day before that.

Game crashes randomly ...
before and after the patch...
just got a new system some 2 weeks before the patch and finaly running premium:

Asus PQ5 Deluxe Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2,83Ghz, 1333Mhz FSB, 12MB
Asus ENGTX 260 TOP 896 DDR3
8gig Kingston DDR2 RAM (800mhz) 4x 2gig
500gig Seagate Baracuda
Vista Ultimate (64b)

Crashes less when I run only 1 of my 2 accounts. One of my clients can just close down, and it will tell me in windows an error occured with the programm....
I do run Gamers Window Relocater... because:
http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=905873

But often at a gate, when I want to jump it, it sometimes will crash. Sad
Pretty annoying.

I'm having the same problem now. After not having a problem for years, I am now having this problem. I'm running a 7800GT. After running the game for about 2 minutes the screen pixelates and the only way to exit eve or do anything at all is to do a hard reboot.

I reinstalled the client, that didn't help. I uninstalled and reinstalled the video card and chipset drivers, that didn't help either.

I'm thinking it's failing hardware: video card, mobo, psu or all 3. But this doesn't make a whole lot of sense as I can play other games and have been able to play EVE for some time without any issues.

Very frustrating.

It nothing to do with your hardware. I keep getting crashes were I never had before. My GFX card is not overheating or even getting close to it. I use an ATI 4850, with updated drivers. Sound is disabled. Ive not played for a long time and all this crap dont amke me want to stay.
