With these node crashes due to the extreme hammering the database gets and the lack of programming methodologies, this does equate to a highly masked DDOS attack.

If you think about it a DDOS attack is the flooding of a computing device(The server) in this case, through TCP/IP connectivity and/or database queries(the EVE client) in this case, with the soul purpose of creating a server shutdown. Under ISO and Federal laws in most countries a DDOS attack no matter how it is done is against the governing country's laws.

By the aforementioned paragraph the only alliances capable of creating this intense load on the servers infrastructure are Goons and their pets; and BoB and their pets. Why CCP lets their servers come under this intense load is beyond me. But it looks like to me that these constant tactics do warrent some legal action against the leaders of those organizations. They know it will crash the server ergo this action must be taken place.

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't your side that jumped into the system with alot of numbers => creating the server load => the ones making the masked DDOS attack in your theory?

I lol'd so hard.

I guess that means if I put up a web server on a 386 processor with 4MB of ram and then link an image hosted on it onto these forums that I can sue/have arrested everyone that clicks the link because they overloaded the server and crashed it - therefore it was an illegal DDOS attack?

Do you even know what ISO stands for?

"sigh" So i take it what happened at 15w was pure skill on NC's part?

I spent 4 hrs logging in, by the time i got on they were finishing off the last carriers. I certainly wasnt happy about being kept out of the game, nor did many of the GBC players. But it happened. Seriously get over it it happened to a lot of players on both sides.

Please, just . . . stop. The use of the word "aforementioned" makes you sound archaic, and "ergo" makes you sound ******ed. How about a few "herein"s, "theretofore"s, "wherein"s, and, my personal favorite, "and/or", which does not mean "and" or "or" while you're at it.

Whatever you are saying, it doesn't equate to ****. The premise of your argument is faulty from the beginning because your conclusion is wrong. You argue a conclusion and then try to use a sledgehammer to pound facts into the round holes. I pray to god you're not a lawyer or in any way actually associated with the legal profession.

This is a harsh response to your statement - probably the harshest thing I've ever said on this forum towards someone else. Suggesting legal action is unwarranted. Especially by your failed . . . assembly of words. I can't even respectfully call it an argument.

With respect to all involved today I can't help but point out that this quote...

Quote:
oh and btw while we were shooting your inactive dreads (you know you can tell when they dont rep themselves)

... paints a pretty clear picture of how the battle apparently went down.

I have a feeling that if people spoke openly this "battle" was a big disappointment for many on both sides. Shooting targets (even juicy ones) that can't fully log in or defend themselves in anyway way is pretty hollow for those that play the game for challenging combat. And I know many on both sides play for precisely that reason. However, I also realize that any FC that passed up an opportunity like that in a strategically vital system would have a mutiny on their hands.

As they say though, such are the tides of war.

I won't waste time complaining about the lag, and I honestly don't know what could realistically be done to improve the situation for everyone.

I can't say a cap on the system appeals to me in any way. Then again, even if NC had been forced to jump in outnumbered by a 700 or 800 person cap (and knew what the system cap was so that they could plan fleet composition accordingly) that would have been okay, if lag was as reasonable as people claim before the node crash. Good combat would have been had, considerable damage inflicted to both sides, and adrenalin would have replaced the boredom of staring at a black screen. This situation simply sucked for almost everyone involved on either side. But yeah, an arbitrary cap could be exploited by either side depending on the situation... usually (but not always) favoring whomever was the defender. Most of the time the system would be half full of AFK folks keeping the numbers up.

It will be interesting to see how CCP decides to handle the aftermath of this one.

*Edit: Kuar, I'd take a couple of those shirts. Very Happy
