So I'm about to start up eve again, after 2.5 years break, and my current char have 5 mill SP.

My question is, would a 2nd account be worth it? The thing is, that i tend to wanna try lots of different things, and with the way the skill system is build up, that just isnt really possible.
So do you think it would be a bonus to start up a 2nd account to specialize in amarr or minnie ships, along with my current char who's mostly caldari?

If you can afford it and want to train for many different thing as fast as possible, then yeah, a second account is the way to go.

If your planning to fly carriers and other jump ships then a second account is essential for creating your own cynos. If you want to mine in empire and not be bothered with the can flipers, then s second account makes a handy hauler

$50 for second account with Power of Two offer sounds really cheap but afterward CCP will get to pwn you for real life isk:
- if you want to keep your second account running you will have to pay $15 each month for the sub
- if you want to consolidate at the end you will have to pay $20 transfer fee amounting to $70 for 6 months really, not $50, which is just $1 cheaper than the 6-month subscription fee of $71

it really depends on what you want to do.

for one account you can still have one character train mining, one character do science, and one combat.
becuase while the sps would be moved around as you can only train one account at a time, why would you want to have mining skills and combat skill on the same character?

however if you want it all faster I suppose you could go for it.

not me though one account all the way!

I find it invaluable since I have quite limited time to play these days.

Though despite having an alt, I have never specialised my main. It's merely a way of getting more work done in less time, my alt can't do anything (much) that my main can't do.

Yep 2 accounts work nice esp if you have hours where your corp is all UK and your the onlyone on you can still get some stuff done :)

I say no. It's such a pain to train up 2 accounts. I had a second account for a year, that even paid for itself with datacores, and used the 3 characters to run a POS research operation.

It just takes to much time, eve turns into a chore. But they are REALLY nice for 0.0 scouting. If you've got no friends to help, make your own hehe.

It is possible, profitable and a lot of people do it. I personally don't as I've never liked alts/other accounts in any mmo Ive played. Takes away a role in a corp someone else might be able to cover for you which is a shame. But if you want to be able to do everything quicker but spread amongst other accounts then go for it. Have fun.

I still have my old Power of 2 account from the last time they did this. I did the math and realized that keeping two accounts, but paying them a year at a time, wasn't that much more expensive than having a single account and paying by the month on it.

2 Accounts Monthly - $358.80
2 Accounts Annually - $262.80

1 Account Annually - $179.40

So paying annually will save about 36% over paying monthly, and only costs about 46% more than a single sub paid monthly, or $21.90 per month for two accounts paid annually.

Yes it is worth it.

Without using my alt to scout, I'd never get my expensive ships and cargo from Empire through the gatecamp zones to 0.0.

For farming? Hell yes, the second account will pay for itself real fast.

For playing? Hell no, you'll have far more fun with a single account, helping others and receiving help in return.

The most optimal coverage of eve features vs. $ spent would probably go something like this: either sell GTC and buy a farming pilot plus CNR or grow one. Farm ass off, buy other pilots. Alternatively, just sell enough GTCs to buy the pilots you want in the first place. Growing two (or three) accounts from 5 million to useful levels of SP will take 1 to 2 years, depending on which ships you wish to fly.

many more serious gamers often have 2-3 other accounts supporting their main account. Often second account is a moneymaker/support character, the other another main (for example, one is a miner, the other one is a manufacturer), etc.

For combat (if you can handle the major multitasking required), one is your main combat character, the other a cyno/ecm/tackler/remote rep alt, etc.

I'll have to say that after deciding to use two accounts some time ago I've a more productive time of things.

You prolly wanna get rid of your sig. I don't know whether M.Corp even exists anymore. Or STK Scientific or whoever that sig is for.

EDIT: Ahhh, 3 posts above me. Looks like they do. But they're with MH up in the drone regions.

I've gone almost 5 years on one account ... Just can't bring myself to pay for 2 accounts ... EVEN after the previous 'Power of 2' offers.

BUT that said .. I have 3 Decent toons ... its just about co-ordinating your training right ... Very Happy

True enough if your the social type who loves interacting with people no matter the personality. However if your the less than social type or are simply not interested in forging social bonds in an internats spaceship game and want to do your own thing then a second or even fifth account is mandatory as Eve is not designed to be a solo game no matter how motivated you are. ugh

1 for capitals (Khanid, Amarr carrier/dread)
1 for pre-capital (and basic carrier skills in Amarr for a possible future mom) - other two slots with basic cyno alts.
1 scouting, industry (gallente) - all three account slots with cyno alts in them.

thats how I run mine.

Cynical post is cynical. Have you considered for a moment that some people may actually continue their accounts after the 6 months, instead of consolidating onto their main and thus negating the benefits of having two accounts. And speaking of mains, post on your main.

It is not supposed to be more expensive if you pay for a year. It is supposed to be cheaper obviously to make you subscribe for longer periods of time. The whole point of Power of Two however is to get you to open that second account so you will pay more for this game. 6 months for $49,95 seems so very cheap that it will lure a lot of players who weren't very sure about that 2nd account into opening one. Then either way you have to keep it or transfer character so long term CCP either makes same amount of money off you for this 6 months period as if you just went and opened 2nd account without Power of Two, or if you just keep your char on same account and keep it active they will be getting 2x the money from you now for your two accounts.
