Currently training skill - shows you what skill and level you are training and the projected completion time.
Pilot skills - review all of your pilots skills to see what you have trained, and how long it will take to train to higher levels.
Skills database - search the skills database for your next skill. You can search by skill name or by full text search on skill descriptions.

This looks incredible, just a couple suggestions.

Display a countdown to when the skill is finished.
For example: 3d, 20h, 15m, 45s

Use separators in the big numbers: 3,456,789.10

Typing in the API key is a biatch though.

Overall 7/10

Nice, but I can't get it :( damn AppStore won't even let me get free apps since I don't have a credit card in one of countries iTunes is available in.
Can you distribute it through Cydia too?

There are 2 ways then:

1 - type the api key at your own hand... a pain in the a*s

2 - get the api key putting your id and pass and then instantly change your account password

uhmm... we need iphone api key :P ugh

Man, wish we had known you were working on this.

Skillwatch is our iPhone app that is being released soon. It doesn't involve typing in your eveAPI info, which we found to be annoying.

I like your app though. We should've combined efforts!!!

For screenshots of Skillwatch, please visit Roc's Ramblings

Good app though. Congrats on being first to get it out there!

EDIT: Manually entering the eveAPI userid and key is incredibly annoying, made even more annoying by the fact that you have to enter it each time you want to add a pilot, even one using the same information! I do like the full skill browsing though, so 7/10

Actually, Skillwatch will allow just that. You won't have to enter your eveAPI by hand, it's a one click solution for it.

Skillwatch is also the name of the Windows Vista gadget for eve-online. It's been out over a year: http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=561882 Also, most of the top google hits link to the gadget or to pages about it. Things might get unnecessarily confusing with another eve character monitoring app using the same name.

I have an iPhone so I'm definately going to check out both of these apps.

You know, I swear the hardest part of app development is finding a name. We've been through five names now and it's not even released, lol! Rolling Eyes

Just downloaded the app. It seems pretty decent for the phone, but I can't really get my API code in... Wish there was an easier way.

I've noticed that the last group of skills is not selectable: i scroll down til the end, then when i remove the finger from the screen, the list "jump up" and the last voice is hidden :\

Looks like a nice program, but I can't get past the selecting pilot screen...
... and I just read your faq and will try your suggestions.

SaggySoft web site tip did the trick: copy-paste then change font. Make zero-capital O and 1 vs l, much easier. Works as promised for me

Suggestion; if you can, make a file somewhere that is EASILY findable when SSH'ing to your iphone/touch (for those too cheap to buy the phone, like me...), and allow us to cut and paste like that.
Typing in an API key by hand is annoying, to say the least.

Your skill info list is pretty nifty though :p

Your skill info list lost its nifty-ness, you cant scroll down enough to get to the bottom two...

#2 isn't really possible is it? I hit "look up your api key" >< and the browser opens up. I see no way to xfer data from browser page to app.

Those have a jailbreaked iPhone should install OpenSSH and the SSH Toggle. After that, connect to your iPhone via any FTP program via sftp (check your IP; username is "root", pass is "alpine"). You should see a list of folders like this:
http://img116.imageshack.us/my.php?image=no1iu2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Then, click through the folders in this order (marked blue):
http://img379.imageshack.us/my.php?image=no2px0.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.
(/private/var/mobile/Applications/)

In the Applications folder you'll see more cryptic folders. That are Apps combined with their library and other stuff. Search the folders until you'll see "EVETracker.app" - you're there. The folder we're looking for is nemd "Documents" and there is the pilots.plist. Open that file with a text editor ("Textwrangler" or any other app [I just know Mac apps ;)]).

The content might be empty except some XML stuff. Now, just insert this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<array>
<dict>
<key>apiKey</key>
<string>--your API key here--</string>
<key>charID</key>
<string></string>
<key>name</key>
<string></string>
<key>userID</key>
<string>-- your user ID here ---</string>
</dict>
</array>
</plist>

charID and name can be left empty, after restarting EVETracker you can select the character you want in the pilot list by tapping on the empty entry.

This seems to be difficult, but after repeating the API a third time you'll be ****ed by the missing copy'n'paste ... ;)

^^ This, and the API key took a while to punch in (because I'm paranoid that way), but apart from those small annoyances, it's a very neat app. Smile

Ah, but he let us in on the secrets of where to copy paste it (if you are SSH'ing Cool ). This is enough to make this app awesome.
