Hey all, I was just thinking about Ambulation and how CCP said that there would be some mini games included in it. and I had the idea for EVE-themed chess. The idea is simple, standard chess rules just EVE-themes peices for a taste of flavor. At the beginning of that match you could choose your race, but merely for aesthetics. Below I have little thoughts on what the pieces could be represented by. Pawn - Incursus/Rifter/Punisher/Merlin Knight - Thorax/Rupture/Omen/Caracal Bishop - Myrmidon/Hurricane/Harbinger/Drake Rook - Megathron/Tempest/Apocalypse/Raven Queen - Thanatos/Nidhoggur/Archon/Chimera King - wasn't sure for this one, but probably something vulnerable like a pod or Freighter The intent for EVE Chess would be just to chill out in a station and a mellow match of wits between players, but I suppose it could be played for cash  |

I think that would be a great idea.
The kings should be th titans though. Unmanuverable and easily destroyed if left undefended. |

For all you chess lovers, HAH!
It's already been stated by a dev (devblog or post, don't remember), that ambulation will have poker and go. So sorry, chess fans lose out! ^_^
But obviously go would be implemented, it is after all the game most likely to be played by any aliens we meet. |

Knight's and Bishop's tend to be of equal rank, so they should both be cruisers  I wouldn't put cap ships on a chess board... they're too big  Pawn - frigs Knight - Cruiser Bishop - Cruiser Rook - Battlecruiser Queen - battleship King - Pod?  |

Oooh that would be cool to be able to sit down in station and play some chess, Ultima Online used to have chess, I'm not too keen on the idea of novelty chess boards though, I find them distracting when I'm playing. I suppose it would make sense from an rp point of view though, just like I imagine if they had poker they would have different suits (4 suits = 4 races?). |

hmmmm they should be able cyno in a cruiser/battlecruiser/battleship though, as per normal promotion rules... To keep it inline with EVE and chess, the frigate then needs to be ganled and removed from the board. nice idea! |

They're going to pick Go over Chess for a mostly Western Audience of players?
Have they ever actually played Go? The scoring is terrible.
Sounds to me like an EVE dev watched Pi one too many times and got a little excited.

Or the chess pieces could be soldiers in a modern new eve army. solider = pawns, combat suits = rooks, armoured tank knight etc. Could work really well. |
