My drones can't attack anything past 25km. I fitted an omnidirectional tracking link which increases max range on drones by 1.2 x. So I should be able to engage my drones 30km away from my ship, but I still can't do anything past 25.

I'm missing something, someone please point it out ugh

Yes, you don't know what your module does. The omnidirectional tracking CPU is a module that increases the range and tracking of the drones' weapons. It is designed for sentry drones for the most part. You want a drone link augmentor - which will allow you to tell your drones to attack further away. Also, you need the skill Scout Drone Operation V, very badly.

The tracking link increases the optimal range and tracking on the guns of the drones, not the range at which you can control them.

What you want is a Drone Link Augmentor I.

Omni's only work on sentry drones since they don't move (range on normal drones doesn't really matter since they move to the target)

If you want your normal drones to engage further, take a look at Drone Link Augmentors. It is a high slot module that extends your control range by 20km.

You also need to train Scout Drone Operation higher. +5km extra control range per level. At level V you should be able to control out to 45km unassisted. If you want to go further, train Electronic Warfare Drone Interfacing, it gives an additional 3km per level to all (mobile) drones.
