Don't wonder why boy's play girls.

I've played quite a few MMORPG games where i encountered IRL girls playing, but they always seem to roll female characters.

I do actually wonder if there are IRL girls who play male characters.

There are. I used to have a friend who plays male characters so girls do it as well. Before my fiance met me she used to do the same but only because she disliked being hit on. The friend that does it hasen't really given a reason as to why she plays males other than "She just does."

I sometimes play as a female character. My answer to that question has always been: Because I want to control women IRL, but this is the closest I can get.

I said before that it's fine to play a female avatar but I have yet to play a game where the camera is positioned right at the character's ass. I wonder, how do people see well enough to play such games? Or is the ass staring the only aspect of the game? I'm rather curious myself. When I play games that are third person view I find that I'm more staring at the back of the character's head, the back, or more likely the world around and in front of the character.

Then again, I don't look at pron. I never have. I never "checked" girls out either. Nothing wrong with doing those things but I only see such parts as either lumps of flesh or a place where one urinates, poops, or a part that's used in the process of baby making. I understand I'm not the norm but this is why I have no desire to play a female avatar.

I play male characters without "Staring at their ass." I play them because they're easier to roleplay or relate to. It's just getting irritating when people keep saying "Who's ass would you rather look at." because the answer is neither. I don't want to stare at something that gas or bowel movements pass from. ugh

Sex can feel good, no doubting that. It's just I feel there's very little (basicly none) point in looking at parts because there's nothing really appeasing to look at. I just don't get the entertainment. Humanity is very strange indeed.

The reason for this post is that there seems to be a lot of assumption flying around that it's ideal for every guy to care about what kind of ass they're staring at or how attractive something is.

*Edit* Before anyone makes some comments such as "You must be a child." I'm 21 and engaged. Remember, everyone is different and are entitled to their own views.

holy crap. I dont even know where to start ripping on you but really id be here all day and id get bored of it. but really id suggest, in all honesty , talking to someone about that. Sounds like a lot of supression, mentally. no offense.

it is perfectly normal and healthy for the human race to look at the body of the opposite sex and want to as well as do things with them because of it. if the way you say you think was the norm 99.9% of everyone would not exist, if anyone at all. the only chance is an accidental bump in the night at the wrong angle with 100 other things happening simultaneously.

I had a friend who at one point thought in a similar fashion as you. Thing is the guy was a virgin. If you are, no offense, trust me getting into things your not ready for will frak with your mind.

Thing is its normal, its programmed into us all. as for the idea of why anyone would want to stare at a digital representation of the oppposite sex where they have control of how they look is natural. everyone has preferences. I prefer broads with a big, round, kinda widish rear and Ds and up with certain hair ,height and skintone. That wont match what other guys are into but if we had the chance we would all like the idea of designing the perfect mate(s).

its not the same as pron its just...an ounce of eyecandy for the endurance of your game time. much like any guy...well most would want hot chicks all over the place n o matter where they went.

I do. In another game. Mainly because I find the male avatars of that particular character class nicer to look at than the female ones (who either look stoned, or surly or both). And, well, if I'm going to be staring at digitalized pixels for hours on end, it may as well be eye candy.

IMO, gender is largely irrelavent in Eve. It's nice to have a pretty portrait and all, but it's not what you're looking at most of the time. Now, ships ... ships can be HAWT. Very Happy

The problem is some people play MMOs and treat it as a dating service, i'm not going to get into the rights and wrongs of that. I'm just saying its perfectly natural, because MMOs already take away 50% of girls you don't want to even know and leaves the ones that might have the same interests as you. I can see why people would complain about guys playing as girls at least in RL(well instead of transvestites but thats an entirely different matter)you know if they are a girl or not. You don't know if they are a girl so you can get quite frustrated that there are only guys in womans bodies.

you reminded me about this one time in hollywood, this dude, hair as can be walking around wearing a pink fluffy jacket and pink skirt. 5 o clock shadow and more hair on his legs then i have on mine. i thought he had to be fufilling a bet that he lost but the way he walked around said he wasnt. i wasnt sure if it was okay to laugh or what. so i just stored the memory under "Wtf?" If your going to RP a girl in RL, i dont know..maybe shave a bit. at least that way a friend of mine will drool like an idiot at a distance and try to act brush off the fact that it was obviously a dude from a mile away. at least that provides hours of lols.Laughing

As a friend of mine once said...

"If i have to stare at my character's butt for xx hours, it might aswell be a nice butt"

This of course relates mostly to 3rd person games, but it's really the reason most of my characters are female. If i had to stare at a male butt for thousands of hours i'd probably notice i was homosexual after a while.

I really am curious. What game is it that people play where the camera view is panned at the character's bottom? I have never played a game where the character's bottom is all that I could see. What is the purpose of a game where all you see is the behind? In most third person games I have played, you see the entire character. So you see the character's back and the world around them. There's much more than a bottom, the game in question must be extremely lame.

LoL - Guess you never played Lineage 2.

http://www.geekzone.fr/ipb/images/misc/blog/LineageII_02.jpg

I have 2 female characters in EVE and 2 male. Frankly I didn't much think about why I made the 2 female ones other then maybe creating a nice looking pixel chick to stare at when am bored warping 20 jumps to pick crap up.

Apparantly you went and assumed but that's okay. I didn't give you reason otherwise. I'm not saying that I don't get sex. I understand why people want to have sex. That's not an issue at all. Sex is a good thing, not only for reproduction, but because it feels really good. If you want indepth information, it's the thought of the feeling that excites me. However, looking at parts does nothing. They don't do anything. Ever.

A girl's chest will be exactly the same next day, next month, and even next year. It's not going to suddenly dance, sing an opera, or do a comedy routine. I have no problem in the department that you're suggesting and logically I can enjoy something without staring for hours at the thing that causes it. As I said, people think differently.

*Edit* I'm not right? How's that? I'm attracted to females, afterall, I have a fiance. We are getting married in december. I have no problems with sex, I just find staring at the organs "boring" I'd rather be doing something rather than "Watching." There's nothing emo about it.

As a female playing EVE, i have to say, the reason my avatar is not a male one, is well....................have you seen them? lol i wouldn't even bother with a guy if he looked like the males in eve. so i can understand why some will go for a female character.

If someone roll plays a female and you chat them up, but find out later, well LOL that's your own fault for thinking this is some dating service and not realising that this is a ROLL PLAYING GAME (RPG)

But what is really annoying about being a woman playing a computer game, is the wall of aggro it tends to generate soon as someone finds out that you are indeed female.

Ive had everything from (text based) sexual harassment / insults / proposals / dinner offers / Cyber offers - requests and men worrying about their ego because "heaven for bid" a female is playing their beloved EVE online. (just look at half the comments on here that degrade woman as some kind of sex / slave object to ogle over) OK i guess it comes with the territory considering the high number of men who play the game, but sometimes people push things a little too far.

So i take my hat off to men who want to play female characters, if they get half as much grief as i do sometimes. then let them.

And before you get all highly strung, I'm married so not interested thank you.

this.

A more appropriate question would be: why are women treated so bad in MMORPGs?
At least, as everybody assumes most female avatars are guys, the girls playing Eve feel more comfortable playing it. And that's a good thing. Very Happy

Hawt women are and 99% of them know it and use it to their advantage for personal gain. Ugly women are excluded therefore we do not "degrade women" we "grade hawt women" as sex / slave objects to ogle over.

Plenty of people here speaking up for why to play a female avatar, and personally I don't have a problem with it (obviously) but nobody dares to look behind the curtain and just call out the real reason that people are "weirded out" by it, so I'll explain.

A long time ago there were these games caled MUDs, MUSHs, MUCKs, etc. Sandboxish MMORPGs (when massive meant 100 or so) with combat systems, you can say they were the non-graphical precursors to games like Eve. Hell it goes back farther than that to channels like #hottub on efnet (IRC).

Netsex (cybersex. talking dirty. RPing sex. An excuse to choke it.) was pretty common in these things. Lots of young "men" got involved in this and "RPd" chicks. Then they would netsex with other dudes.

Plenty of these youngn's got permanently traumatized by this once they found out the truth.

So today they want everyone to be forced to play their real (natural. no post-ops!) sex so they can try that whole cybersex thing again and maybe, just maybe, it'll be with a real girl this time.

There you go, I hope you are now educated about why some people are bent out of shape over this. ;)

First, I love em too.
Second, who said I stare at men? If you meant my Avatar the only time I see Mr. Botox is when I log in and I think when I chat. I don't even see em when changing a skill, after all thats a waste of space just to show a picture.

P.S. LoL at the comment some person made saying he looked like he was getting sandblasted. With the background he is in it does match up pretty wellLaughing
