I lost connection in an unpatched client too...
This isn't the patch, apparently a transatlantic cable went down or something like that heavily affecting routing.

This doesn't seem to be CCP's fault.

Not saying CCP should be blamed for this like the internet is completely under their control. I just want to know why it's occurring.

Same problem got DC several times back to back, it then flipped my settings from fullscreen to windowed mode, then after final crash i can no longer see the login screen, I get the splash then just a tab in my toolbar, cannot even see login screen, I can hear the background music playing, but nothing else, this sucks

The same thing happened to my husband just now. He had been DC'd 9 times today and I have been DC'd 5 times in the last hour. I almost lost my BS and ended up just docking. I guess I can't play this game tonight. I did install the patch, but just uninstalled it to see if that helps.

We are in the US, do you think this is a trans-Atlantic problem?

Same same....

DC'd 6 times in less than an hour.

only after the patch.

I am sure it is the patch. Everything worked fine till they deployed it. What ever has happened, I am convinced it is on CCP's end. I highly doubt it the trans atlantic cable.Rolling Eyes

Yes, I fear the patch corrupted the client, I think it's time they shut down the servers and do EMERGENCY maintenance. Better now than on the weekend, CCP. Trust me on this one.

Idle for few minutes + attempting to click basically anything = disconnect.
EVE Mail had no "reader" window.
Chatting in Corp resulted in constant buzzer mode.

I fear a rollback, folks. They should not let people log on anymore. They should isolate the problem while it's offline. I'm sure all 20,000 of us would rather be offline and return to a stable game after a few hours of maintenance, than suffering a major loss in case of a rollback.

Please CCP, shut it down. I'm begging you.

Pretty narrow minded viewpoint there, chief. Ever hear of a coincidence?

Every time my pings to myeve.eve-online.com stop, my connection drops. However, my corpmates living elsewhere around the world do not lose ping and do not lose connection. So explain to me, please, how this can be CCP's fault?

I suppose the facts of the people who have not applied the patch disconnecting go out the windows? Hope you all are not in IT.

I've lost connection with Germany over a work line.
I've lost connection with EVE (Iceland).
I've lost connection with my teleconference (somewhere overseas).

I have not lost my internet connection.
I have not lost my connection to my server which is in California.
I have not lost my beautiful pandora music mix which is state side only.

Yes, great deductions, it must be CCP having an issue.

Atlantic cable theory is the lamest crap I have ever heard on an online game overseas. There is a problem with CCP, server, computers or maybe they forgot to pay the long distance company bill, whatever it is, they need to fix it NOW.

But they've all been using the Internet for years! They have hundreds of hours of visiting websites under their belts, they know how the Internet works! Laughing

The ongoing connection issues are caused by widespread ISP issues. Everything on our end is working just fine.

Your absolutely right Ivan. Gotta be lame being ignorant :)

I'm just wondering....

Does anything ever get resolved when people argue their points in an internet forum or is it simply an utter waste of time?

Hmmm..Let me think on that a bit.

Hmm just got back from work haven't tried eve yet but to clarify:

Im in florida on the gulf coast and after my third dc,
I ran a speed test through speakeasy.com pinging their seattle washington server over 3000 miles away.

Im on a fiber connection and I was getting 12.4meg down and 1.4 meg up.

After that test I logged back on and got my 4th dc, so I am skeptical that it was on my end.

The route your packets take to Seattle is quite different from going to the UK. The problem is not on your end. It's not on CCP's end either.

The problem lies somewhere along the path to the UK and there's nothing any end user or CCP can do about it.

Its the declining value of the dollar. Two years ago the internet would have bent over backwords to fix our "interconnected pipes", now as long as euro paying customers can connect the interweb company is happy.

do you crash on the splash screen? cuz i had that after the FW expansion. I logged into eve safe mode and changed the shadow setting from extreem to normal, and it started working fine in premium. I do miss my extreem shadows though :(
