I actually dont think this is a good idea.

Heavy logistics BCs would be a lot more useful, being able to do heavy remote repping in a BS gang while absorbing a lot more than their cruise counterparts.

Similarly, and vice-versa, there should be a Command Frigate.

In the current 0.0 sovereignty system, perhaps, but CCP will be implementing more and more features that are only accessible to smaller ships from here on out. I think that a smaller logistics role is something desirable, to be honest.

T2 logistics BC
An interesting idea, but my problem with it is that heavily tanked logistics BCs would either be instantly primaried in any large engagement and too powerful in smaller roaming gangs, especially if you used 2 working together. Start up a topic on it and we can discuss the various pros and cons on it. Smile

I don't see the point , logistics frigates would have the same effectiveness of AFs - they just don't scale well. Small remote reps are short ranged and weak , consider that logistics cruisers have a powergrid bonus to fit large remote reps. They can be either tanked or nanoed , so that they can shrug off single attackers reaching them or avoid getting caught entirely. A logistics frigate would die to the first rifter looking their way.

A role fitting for a T2 frigate is electronic support - remote sensor booster , ECCM , tracking links. Long range abilities that do not attract the attention of enemies too much , but can lend significant help with enough of a bonus.
Who needs rapiers when your medium guns can track interceptors ? Remote sensor boosters are very dangerous offensively , and bonused ECCM would be a welcome counter to falcons.

Anything that adds a new ship is a good idea in my book. I'm not sure about the specifics, but I am willing to be that even though they will be primary often and not survive for very long people will use them more since they will be fairly cheep. They would also make a nice addition to small gangs.

Perhaps give them enough PG and Cap bonuses to mount the Med sized ones like the cruiser sized logis can mount large remotes?

Ack, forgot the support check box again!

I agree with this one.
I also agree with someone's idea about actual logistics ships vs space nurses

Would be useful for ship-size restricted plexes like seen in FW (especially if this concept is brought into 0.0)

i can see where you got the idea that having t2 frigates for all the hulls would be nice, but i don't think remote repping is the way to go. t1 repping cruisers like the osprey, exequror, and augoror would outperform your variants with less training.

Good idea, these would be great in FW complexes that restrict players to Frig sized ships, maybe not so usefull outside of them.

I don't know what I like more: tarminic's idea or yamamoto's....

Speedy space medic frigates are needed, big dumb battleships with logistic abilities are needed as well (even though the competition at this level are pretty impressive - the carriers)...

But supply vessels would be even more interesting. Maybe some mini(jump)freighters with some slots for a slight bit of tank or speed, as well as some of those long range capital tractor beams to pull in the wrecks after the fight? (in case the mini(jump)freighter's team has won it, of course YARRRR!! )

I'm inclinded to disagree with this idea.

As a logistics boat it'll fail its role due to weak remotes and low HP. Instead, I'd imagine a mini blockade runner (more agile at that but sans turret and perhaps slightly less cargo) would be a more effective T2 use of the hull.

Decent idea, especially with the FW limitations you mentioned.

Or, perhaps, let's just implement a logistics module (or 4).

Energy Transfer Supplementer, Shield Transfer Supplementer, Remote Armor Repair Supplementer - Mid slot item, +100 transfer/repair amount, +100% transfer/repair range per logistics level. Only one transfer supplimenter, of any type, can be active per ship. Does not, itself, do anything remotely but makes remote logistics more efficient.
Remote Hull Repair Supplementer - Low slot, +30% reduction in remote hull repair cycle time /level. (in addition to other bonuses).

This will enable anyone to provide logistics without requiring the introduction of an entirely new ship type. Current logistic ships are able to run multiple modules simultaneously.

I'd love flying a T2 logistics frigate, I can imagine alot of use for them, especially helping roaming inty/AF gangs etc.

Supporting this idea.

I'm a big fan of logistics so I very much support the concept. Although I think having a ship with shield transport and cap transfer and only having 2 highs isn't very effective, likely need a 3 high. Not to mention have you reviewed CPU/PG use on logistics stuff?

I'd much prefer a Tech II Gas Harvester/Salvager role orientated Frigate, but I suppose I'd settle for a Tech II Logistics Frigate if that was the only alternative ...

Most of the credit for this idea comes from here:
Linkage

Every T1 frigate for each race in EVE has a T2 counterpart - interceptors, assault frigates, covert ops, and Electronic Attack Frigates. However, the mining/cargo frigates have been completely left behind, relegated to use by trial accounts and misplaced purchases. But what role could they perform?

With the advent of Factional Warfare and size-restricted deadspace zones, I think that it's time these poor ships received a T2 hull, a role, and some general love. What role, you ask? Logistics Frigates!

General Design Principles:
-Reduced Signature Radius (Improved survivability, and in line with logistics ships)
-Reduced Mass (T1 cargo frigates are way too heavy for any kind of combat)
-T2 resistances (obviously)
-Marauder-like bonus for remote repair systems (compensates for low slot numbers and improves sustainability)
-Significantly improved sensor range/resolution

Logic Behind Them:
A frigate's biggest weakness is it's vulnerability, obviously. T2 resistances will help a little, but like interceptors, reduced signature radius will also go a long way towards saving them in an engagement. I choose to give them a marauder-style bonus to their repairers because this frees some slots for tanking (further improving survivability) and goes a long way towards cap sustainability as they'll probably be running MWDs for the duration of combat. The reduced mass allows them to actually benefit from using MWDs, though they should still have mass greater than average for their race. If the combination of capacitor reduction and a marauder-style role bonus is too much, you could change it to a 100% bonus to remote repair cycle time.

Now for some juicy examples:

T2 Navitas:
Slot Layout:
3 Low, 3 Medium, 2 High (2 Turret)

T1 Bonuses:
150% bonus to Remote Armor Repair System and Tracking Link range
5% Reduction to signature radius

T2 Bonuses:
10% Reduction to Remote Armor Repair Capacitor Use
5% Bonus to Tracking Link Effectiveness

Role Bonus:
+100% bonus to Remote Armor Repair System Transfer Amount

T2 Bantam:
Slot Layout:
2 Low, 4 Medium, 2 High (2 Turret)

T1 Bonuses:
150% bonus to Remote Shield Transfer and Remote Energy Transfer range
5% Reduction to signature radius

T2 Bonuses:
10% Reduction to Remote Shield Transfer Use
10% Reduction to Remote Energy Transfer Use

Role Bonus:
+100% bonus to Remote Shield Transfer Amount

A good idea? Or another horrible brain abortion from Tarminic?

I kind of like the idea, but rather than a frigate, make the logistics ship a destroyer. There are already 5 T2 frigate classes, but only 1 T2 destroyer class (which has been heavily nerfed and is largely obselete).

Well, in this [Issue] Tarminic specifically presented some Logistics orientated designs instead. I'm in no way opposed to it, I'd just prefer a "Utility" Frigate with an alternative focus. If I didn't think it might be a little too overpowered or "Jack of all trades" I'd suggest role/skill bonuses for Gas Harvesting, Salvaging and Logistics.

I still fondly remember the first time I stumbled across the Tech II hull of the Bantam in the form of a COSMOS agent aboard a "Sparrow". I was so excited, then so disappointed!

The idea is sweet but I agree about the scaling part.
Current proposal gives you fast locking frigs with a small sig radius so you end up with a slower version of interceptors.
And with at least 3 med slots its suited for tackling as well.
So I guess the slot layout needs some more attention to make this work as intended.
