So anyone know what kind of ships to use for a lvl3 mission. The last time I tried it with a BC, it almost got blown up in the first minute or so. Thus, is it better if I get a BB to do it?

What type of ship do you have and what are your skills? A BC is the proper ship for a level 3, but you might need to up some of your skills in order to tank the damage.

Sorry, even though I have on this game for almost a year, I haven't been playing that much. So what skills do I need or are necessary to have?

What do you have currently fitted and to what ship? What are your current cap skills at? armor and shield skills? Ive only just started level 3s in my drake and have had no problems tanking the damage with only one warp out on Blockade.

Brutix, four regular rail guns and three blasters. Aside from that medium shield booster, medium armor repairer, medium hull repair, and three power core upgrades and nano armor plate and of course drones. As for the skills, I have very minimal skill in terms of increasing damage resistance and increasing maximum shield and armor.

OK,

Don't mix guns. Many threads on this, since the quickest way to reduce the strain on your tank is to kill the offender. Pick blasters or rails, not both.
Get rid of the hull repairer, you need to increase your armor resistance. If your into structure you've already lost.

Your low slots are for your tank, not for increasing your power grid. Fit hardeners in the lows with the repairer.

Skillwise you need good cap skills in order to permarun the tank. And you need to work on your mechanic skills so that less damage is inflicted to you. Get your drone skills up to tech 2. the Brutix has a nice sized drone bay.

EDIT: Get the eve fitting tool and eve mon. EFT helps when fitting out your ship and eve mon will help you plan out the skills you need. Eve mon also has links to battleclinic with many many common fits for all ships.

Ouch. That has to be one of the worst setups I have ever seen. Try this:

[Brutix, Dio's Brutix]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Armor Thermic Hardener II - rat specific
Armor Kinetic Hardener II - rat specific
Damage Control II
Medium Armor Repairer II

10MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II

If you cannot fit/use this - train to fit/use this. Better still, forget the Brutix and get a Myrmidon:

Armor Thermic Hardener II

wtf is a BB? and if you almost lost a BC in 2-3 minuets you were fitted wrong. you do not try to shield, armor, and hull repair at the same time. also never use long and short range weapons at the same time. a brutix is a gallente ship so its an armor tanker. use a armor rep, some armor resist, a damage control, some tracking moduels, and some cap recharge moduels.

BB is the correct naval hull classification for battleships

ex. USS New Jersey (BB-62)

Just as nuclear carriers are shortened to CVN

How much does it cost to fit all these equipments? Furthermore, what's the engagement range for your Brutix fit? I mean how far can it shoot and hit target?

Ran this setup through EFT,

range on the guns is 21km Optimal+falloff

Now that can be easily changed with different ammo

Iron will net you 45km
Tungsten 40km

and so on down the line.

Hey what skill can increase powergrid total? Also, I think I can shoot up to 45km with my current railgun, which is 250 mm Railgun I, using iridium charge, so I think I will try to increase the power grid and put more of those.
Also, seems like that the EVE fit I downloaded won't estimate the price for me, so can someone give me an estimate of just the Brutix fit? Thanks a lot.

Engineering increases your powergrid - get it to 4 asap and then to 5 when you can (make it a priority though).

Use the in-game market to price & locate your items.

Well since this is eve and not the US navy... a BB is a blackbird, and i am not sure how an ecm cruiser is going to help him here.

(yes i know he meant bb for battleship i am just being more correct since this is eve..)

To fit a BC with a full rack of 250mm railguns, you will need Engineering V and Advanced Weapon Upgrades to at least IV and possibly V. I put those fits up because they are fairly comfortable if you have lower fitting skills. Fitting things like 250mm Railgun IIs may require AWU V.

You can also get 1, 3 and 5% powergrid implants - but I don't endorse the use of such things - there are much better implants you can use.

As for the cost of those setups - use http://www.eve-central.com/ or your ingame market in a region with a good market (e.g. Sinq Laison, Essence, The Forge) - not some backwater (Everyshore, 0.0). A fully rigged BC fit shouldn't cost more than 90 million with best named/Tech II gear and drones.

as stated Engineering will increase your total grid, but make sure as your training that up to fit the weapons you have the cap to fire and tank at the same time. Cap skills are

Primary:
Energy Management (increases total available cap)
Energy Systems Operations (increases cap recharge rate)

Secondary:
Controlled Bursts (reduces cap needed to fire)

For fitting those weapons without having to add modules you will need

Engineering (increases max CPU)
Electronics (Increases max powergrid)
Weapons Upgrades (Reduces CPU needs of weapons)
Advanced Weapons Upgrades (Reduces powergrid needs of weapons

With the exception of the weapons upgrades you'll want all of those skills to 4 preferably 5 as soon as possible. This will help you fit ALL ships you come across.

Weapons Upgrades has to be taken to 5 to get Adv Weaps.

Remember any module that just helps you fit weapons is not helping you tank damage.

I'd recommend a HAC(Heavy Assault Cruiser)
They're fast and you can semi-nano them with a afterburner.
You'll be through the missions in no-time.
Esp if you're using a missile HAC.

HACs are not nearly as good as BCs for missions - and they cost 2-3x more. Not to mention being more skill intensive. The exception is the Ishtar - which can do any level of missions and is very capable.

I was happily soloing level 3 missions in a Caracal. Just fit an afterburner and overdrive, make sure you get Missile Projection and Missile Bombardment to 4 ASAP, then focus on missile operations.

Make sure you also have a fast frigate to allow you to kite stuff away from warp in point in the "aggro on entry" missions.

And bookmark all rooms so you can come back after mission hand-in to salvage with an MWD-equipped salvage boat - the wrecks will be spread over all of known space :P

This is why you use a Drake or Myrmidon. You can warp in, draw full aggro and kill everything wothout moving. Then BM that spot and come back with your salvage ship. With everything close, salvaging takes no time at all.

Instead of the Brutix, I'd suggest a Myrmidon for missions. Especially if you rely on drones for damage.

Save the Brutix for shooting people. Twisted Evil
