There's a new version scheme on all the patches and deliveries. Each build has a major and a minor version number, plus a running build number.
All Castor builds have a major version 1. All Shiva builds have a major version 2.
The minor build increments after each TQ patch delivery.
After next TQ patch, the versioning of most stuff will be complete.
The current TQ client is thus 1.24.1424 (even though boot.ini tells otherwise at the moment). This basically means Castor client, 24th patch, built sometime after 1423 but before 1425.
We have 4 external servers plus numerous internal server, 3 branches of the client and a two-stage client build pipeline. That's the main reason for the version scheme touch-up.

Great explanation - thanks :)
How then, do us mere mortals get on to Shiva test server?
Castor patches (Chaos) 1.24.1424-1.25.1515 - [2.23 MB] 1.25.1426-1.25.1515 - [0.33 MB] Release patches (Entropy) (In synch with Tranquility)
Shiva patches (Sputnik - This server is not public) 1.24.1424-2.01.1514 - [2.23 MB] ^^^^ I take it you guys mean that the game server is not public?
Thanks RobW1 |

RobW1 exactly, it's not public. I'm sure we'll be able to test shiva somewhere before release though... Right devs? |

Alrighty, I have my Shiva Client all updated and ready for action.
Now, if only we could log onto the Sputnik server, that would be cool, wouldn't it? huh
sign me up!
ps: just being able to see "test" the new effects and gui would be sweet |

Somewhat of a technical orgasm. heh
A simple 1.x 2.x would have been far less confusing for peeps.

1.1 to 1.10 max ? 1.25 alowed ? 1.26 just for an hotfix ? I also think their system could have 1 less decimal :) |

Fuhry, Help us out here. Why would you give us the patches, with nothing to attach to? Perhaps I am missing something or is Sputnik actually available to us somewhere? A little communication would be appreciated. Best Regards. |

One thing I would say and is long overdue are revision notes with the patches in a simple readme, especially with test patches.
Difficult to know wht's supposed to have been fixed etc and wht to look out for otherwise.

Unfortunately, you must go back to 1424 and then onto 1600-1609+ When the Online Test Patches are missing key patches then look to Traveler's Patches für EVEOn Traveler's page look under Patches for Development (Chaos) ServerIf you need the full download for 1424 here it is http://patch.eve-online.com/client/EVE_1424.exe (465 MB) |

Thanks for clearing that up, it worked just like you said. It has raised another question, though. Is Fight Club working? I tried to join on Entropy, but the response i got was negative, as i am Minmatar, and i got no response, not even a message saying my application was sent, on Chaos. |

You may see FCC there but to my knowledge we should NOT expect any corp hangers full of modules there. The reason is Entropy is designed to be more a real-world (or real-TQ) testing. In other words they prefer more pilots to be in their respective corps when testing and to use their normal AutoPilots and have to use gates. This can get negelected Chaos. The last word I heard from CCP is it has been decided that Entropy should not have a working FCC (Fight Club Corp). So it this by design. |

It more interesting to test stuff if you have access to them.
Coz moving corpmate and telling them to test out when they have nothing or 2-3 month late for a mirror, it not interesting.
Alternative to FCC on Entropy should be found.
*Like fullfill market in some base with all equipment, and give players lots of $$$... so they stay in their corp & try out debugging stuff |

Edited by: Tisa Ragebreaker on 29/08/2004 15:00:08I patched EVE from 1.28.1724 - 2.01.2584, for Sputnik and I backed up EVE just in-case it didnt work and I couldn't do anything , well, it looks alright up to the login screen but i couldnt get any further, I dont really want to be signed up, why release the patches if they do nothing? I had an Idea, why don't you not release the patches for sputnik, but at least tell us when shiva is going to be on the Test Server? Then us origional people can at least happy and not confused about why the sputnik patches are released? |
