I had seen a thread a while back about buffing the Bantam but they wanted it to be a cloaked miner. With FW coming up I was looking over some frigates(caldari)that I have sitting around and remembered my lonely bantam forever mothballed.

I thought about the recent introduction of t2 EW frigates and the fact that FW is going to be giving frigs everywhere a new life other then glorified shuttles. That made me think about the Bantam and its role in FW other then a possible joke just a step above showing up in an Ibis.

The Bantam is the little brother of the Osprey. The Osprey is the t1 version of a logistics ship. The osprey gets mining related bonuses and a remote shield booster bonus. Add in the recent t2 version of EW frigs and you have to ask," why don't the mining frigates get a logistics bonus like their cruiser counterparts?".

The only answer to that is that there is no T2,frigate sized logistics ship in existence. If we have Electronic Attack ships, why not introduce a Light Logistics ship class? At the same time introduce a scaled logistics bonus to the t1 mining frigates.

With FW coming up and basically the reintroduction of frigates to pvp, this idea makes sense to me. Before when FW was just talk, the idea would have seemed completely pointless and a complete waste of Dev time. But now it makes sense and it would be used but only because of FW.

I wonder what the Devs could do to create a Light Logistics ship a viable shipclass. T2 ship style defense, logistics range bonus, a cap reduction for sure. But what would set it apart from a standard Logistics ship other then its size and lock on time? For a EW ship whoever locks first can change the fight but that doesn't seem to add to the idea of a Light Logistics ship.

I think such a ship class would need something to keep it alive longer. Perhaps a sig reduction per level? Maybe something similar to that of a blockade runner, such a benifit would allow it to repair and escape causing the other side to choose to attempt to destroy it or focus on their original target. Something that could make it a "tough" kill to make up for its small reppers could make it a worthwhile ship to skill ,to use anywhere including FW fights.

If anything, I'll gladly take the mini logistics bonus for the mining frigates. We already have small remote boosters, give us a ship to use them now that we have a reason.

A mini logistics frigate would be kind of neat. Instead of the sig radius thing, though, maybe make it a 'Support Support' ship? Designed to protect their larger brothers.

Give them a relatively large signature radius, moderate defenses, kind of slow and unwieldy and a very power sensor strength. Very short target range, comparatively. Forgo the range bonus to remote repairing modules to give them a cap bonus and repair amount bonus for their racial logistics modules. Make the repair bonus not as big as the Logistic Cruisers, but make them better at using Remote Tracking Links, Remote Sensor Boosters, Remote ECCM, and I'm trying to think of a fourth module type but I can't remember. I guess just capacitor.

At first i thought you were pullin my chain with the idea of making them extremely slow. For frigs, the t1 versions are rather slow and clunky so thats already built in. I wasn't thinking of making them interceptor like with the sig reduction, just harder targets by making it a longer lock on time.

I'm thinking if they would make the boost bonus less then the cruiser that they should extend the range. The range bonus would allow it(a small slow ship) to stay in boosting range for its squad mate(small fast ships). If the cap bonus and boost bonus were high enough it could make for invincible interceptors where you need to kill it in one salvo and thats not something I would want to see happen. So a reduced boost bonus might not be so bad.

What I really like is the idea of giving it a bonus to remote ECCM,tracking links and remote sensor boosters. I was thinking about that before i clicked "post reply". I remmeber wanting to test out a destroyer with such mods to help a gang on the cheap.

I'm not sure about the remote ECCM bonus idea, I like it but maybe they should give something like that to the electronic attack ships since they deal with EW,meaning sophisticated electronics and ECCM would need equally sophisticated electronics.

One way or another, theres gotta be a shipclass introduced that brings those into play. Their short range and lack of bonuses for such useful things leaves them collecting dust or refined.

Good ideas though

It will rain fire and brimstone, floods will demolish iceland and the sun will turn black the day that they make a TechII burst designed for combat.

I'm not even joking, I'll sacrifice myself in some sort of demented ritual, forever cursing CCP to failure, my power fueled by my love for them being spurned and laughed at.
None will survive.

Then the Fedo army will march...
