Well I am a new Amarr player and I am asking myself whether I should skill another race before it's too late.
I read about Minmatar & Gallente being the PvP Kings and Caldari seem to rock in PvE. What are Amarr good at?
I am partucularly worried about the damage type. Am I screwed for using Energy Weapons? I'm thinking of PvP primarily. |

Edited by: MotherMoon on 06/06/2008 14:15:37 Honestly ammar ships pump out so much DPS it's sick.
If you use EFT it forgot that ammar ships don't have to reload, EVER.
Also with ammar ships once you master the art of changing ammo type as you get closer you can effective deal damage at all ranges with no issue sas if you were using missiles.
They use a lot of cap to fire, however If you just train up the ship skill and the skill that reduces weapon energy usage, plus rigs and cap booster you should be fine.
Also they have a whole line of tech 2 missle boats incase you need to change up your damage type. |

I had this whole post written...then the computer burped...
Long story short...Amarr does not suck. They are worth flying.
The punisher is an awesome frig, their cruisers have their strengths, and they have an awesome lineup of BS's.
Lasers have their weaknesses, but nothing says you always have to use lasers. |

I have been Caldari Minmatar and currently Amarr.
Of all three accounts, I like the Amarr the most.
Maybe it is the ships or the order I made the toons in but so far the Amarr (newest acct) is the one that I am having the most fun with. I log in to the other accts to train skills but other then that they pretty much just sit and do nothing currently. |

Amarr have some great ships. Don't worry about training them and having fun.
All races have pro's, and con's. As you play you will learn them all. But for now there is absolutely nothing that training strong armor tanking skills, capacitor control skills, or gunnery skills will hurt. Even if you completely switch paths in the future, all of these skills will transfer over. |

Edited by: Sakura Nihil on 06/06/2008 18:59:49Honestly, Amarr ships are great. While lasers might only do EM and thermal, that's a small price to pay. Their ships armor is arguably the strongest in the game, with weapons that are able to switch ranges in a matter of seconds to give them good flexibility in many situations. In addition, their HACs and the Curse are some of the premier roaming gang ships out there - really, the only other downside to the Amarr are their ugly character portraits . The Zealot is my premier ship, and its fantastic. |

Hey, I'm certainly not George Clooney but I am not an Achura either. Does it make sense to skill missiles? I see that some Amarr ships have a lot of laucher hardpoints. Thanks for the encouraging comments by the way. I suppose I will stick with the classic Amarr style for now. |

Edited by: Khorvek on 06/06/2008 19:54:40Edited by: Khorvek on 06/06/2008 19:51:16Amarr ships are slower than other races, but come with benefits. This game is not a "solo" game. 5 diverse and well equipped ships will beat 5 DPS only ships. weapon disruptors, the amarr specialty, are a great way to bring people down to your level in tracking speed, and/or to force them into sitting inside your best suited range. with Amarr being as slow as they are, but having lots of low slots, don't fight the slow speed all the time, instead capitalize on those low slots for damage or tanking (200mm plate on a frig makes great passive tank, and adds less mass to your ship than an AB, as well as less CPU eating ), and use EW to either make the enemy come to you and die horribly or run off. thats why they have the executioner frig, to catch people that dont want to die horribly to the heavy hitting machines in the amarr arsenal really, what you build is for what you need. if you build it well, it'll do its job, but remember, this game is all about countering, so someone may build a setup that counters your setup well. nature of the game. dont take it personally as "this race of ships sux", or "my mod setup sux". look at it from all angles and you'll get the hang of it. |

Any amarr ship bigger then a cruiser that dies to a wolf is made of fail Hell the maller could sit there and afk tank anything a wolf can punch out all day =P As for amarr and PVP: I have an abaddon with Tachs that puts out nearly 900 dps, named tachs with faction ammo. Nuff said Oh and let's not forget ships like the curse, and the I-Eat-Nanof*gs-For-Breakfast Sacrilege, also both made of win, and I'd argue that the the amarr (along with the minmatar) have the best command ships in the game. |

I melted a Wolf the other day with a fully T1-fit Arbitrator with practically no effort. A lick of my medium neutralizer shut the whole thing down (his web and scram died instantly) and my leetle hornet drones swallowed it whole. |

2 out of the 3 major problems with AF's =P Neuts, Webs, and lots of drones are what breaks an Arty Wolf. 'Course, Webs and Neuts can usually be nullified by dictating range, but can be hard to do with my AB ='( Can't fit am MWD... |

The story there was, I came into Amarr market in a covert ops full of expensive stuff, and the WT in the wolf saw me. Presumably she expected me to undock in the same covert ops. Instead I bought and fitted out an Arbitrator, all T1, nothing expensive, specifically designed for anti-Wolf tactics. It was kinda funny, and proves the old adage that knowledge is power. |

The EM armour resist nerf practically "fixed" Amarr for all intents and purposes. Also the zealot/omen and apoc boosts made the ship lineup nearly perfect. The only issue with Amarr is that they have a disproportionate SkillPoint payoff compared to gallente and caldari, mainly because amarr ships are very cap-hungry. You're going to run into cap problems until you're over 10-15mil of PvP skillpoints.
Best suicide gank ship too. |

No matter what you try to fit on an omen, even with the 'boost' it's still ****e compared to other cruisers. |

Oh yeah? Actually I think that nerfing any armour base resistance by 10% and having the nerve to call it a 'boost' for the most heavily armour tanking race in the game is such a bad joke it has to be made up by a minnie - or ccp (doesn't really matter that much as both seem to hate amarr to equal amounts...). |
