It's interesting to note that the active uses on eve seems to have been pretty low these last couple of weeks. My best guess is a combination of "memorial day weekend" and the fact that it's final exam season. What do you guys think?

P.S. Where is that website that says the number of users that have been playing EVE?

Its a combination of:

Exams - Finals are such a pain
Summer - People are heading to the beach or going to the mall, etc
GTA4 - Come on. With video games making hollywood sweat when it comes to opening week income is it really any surprise that GTA4 would demand quite a few peoples time?

Slowdown of the economy, people needing more money for essentials, and thus cutting back on non-essentials like Eve Online. Alot of the current userbase is American who has been hit the most by the slowdown. Europe mostly still going strong, because we don't feel the brunt chock of the rising oil and has stricter lending policies for homeowners (Except UK whick prolly soon will be as f***ed as the US).

I'm sure it's Goon related.

Over promising, under delivering. It is a big turn off for customers, just ask Mr. Gates. I feel very little urge to log in just now. I get much more enjoyment from Tabula Rasa, Mario Cart Wii and PES.

Being one of the U.S. folks you are commenting on, we are not yet in a slow down. And, our economy is not a bad as the media outlets seem to be painting it. The so-called "stricter lending policies for homeowners" which you imply are a problem here in the U.S. are not as widespread as you must think. Yes, there were those that were suckered into the "flex lending" scams but the numbers are extremely low on the percentage of all home loans. Most of what you hear in those regards are things said to score political points rather then essay so actual facts. Yes, we are not happy with the price of oil but that too has been over blown. The economy in the U.S. is doing well. Actually, just read a report that says that the U.S. economy is doing slightly better the that of many in Europe. So, don't make assumptions that things are going down hill over here. They aren't.

I should note for the topic of this thread that I have actually been playing MORE EVE Online lately and not less.

One other thing....there is testing on Singularity for the upcoming expansion...people can't be in two places a once. Wink
