Heavens forbid you can't play Eve Online for 45 - 75 minutes. Rolling Eyes

Pff, like I'm complaining. Downtime doesn't affect me at all. :)

I can see the perspective of others though, but yeah... an hour of no eve is not going to kill you. In a way though given that some gameplay mechanics revolve around downtime, it puts them in an ideal position to support certain activities.

Maybe Eve's not your kind of game? If you're restricted to one hour of playing due to real-life issues, you're not going to get much more out of Eve than the age-old skillpoint whoring.

The issue people have (aussies mostly) is that it happens at 7-8 PM, not AM. The average person in north america is either sleeping away happily dreaming of officer spawns, or heading to work / at work.

Close Blinky it's 9pm - 10pm for east coast Australia an hour later in summer for DST

I've gotten used to it by now, it's a good way to break up the night. Lets me waste time on forums etc Very Happy

I agree with a previous poster, if it bothers you that much, MOVE HOUSE!, Come live in the ****hole we call England, I'll swap houses with you, would love to live in Aus. :D

OR POSSIBLY...

Maybe you could get in a plane will the server is up and take off, and then fly around the world and keep up with the Earths rotation and it would always be the same time and there would never be any downtime!

Oh wait don't work like that... ugh

UMMM...

I live in America, GMT-5, so if downtime did not happen from 6am to 7am I would probibly be late for work everyday.Laughing .

Shows what I know of Australia. I still think you all have to fend off kangaroos with boxing gloves on from beating up the family koala. And everyone walks around with a machete handy to impress all of the hot blonde girls. :p

Graic,

No matter what time the DT is it will always cause problems for everyone. Eve is a world wide game - there will be no DT that suits everyone.

Secondly, the server maintenance needs to take place at a proper time for the CCP devs. You can't have the DB Admins, Operations team walk in at 3 am every night to-do maintenance. That would be really counterproductive.

Third, Eve's infrastructure is quite unique therefore making assumptions that something is "easily possible" is a big big mistake. Eve's setup is massive. Something which is tiny/easy can get quite complicated for a set servers that size.

Wait a while, you will learn to revolve your game time around DT Smile

Oh look, DT was extended by 17 minutes on (insert random day). Eve is obviously dying again. Sad

Saying that DT is perfectly placed to get me to actually go to bed. ugh

Just to reiterate- DT is the time that suits CCP. DT is used by CCP emplyoees to carry out most of the day's maintenance. It needs to be at a time of day that suits their employees (mostly in Iceland, some in the UK).

11GMT gives them time to get in to work, sort out what they're going to do, and then start to do it. If it were at a time that wasn't suitable for them, there would be no point in having one at all. You can't expect them to be up working at 3am en masse, its just not practical.

If you're Australian (gonna guess you are) you're just experiencing the necessary evil of playing a game being run on the opposite side of the planet.
