Is it intended that on Tuesday 1 April that all GSC and abandoned ships/drones be deleted from the servers? Or beacuse the patch was on 12 Mar does that start the 30 day counter, in which case that stuff disappears on 1 May?

I am not sure and was not able to find the answer by searching forums so far. I will continue searching, but if somebody knows the answer for certain, that would be great.

patchnotes
As detailed in PrismX's Blog: Drones, Fighters, Shuttles and Rookie Ships in space will be deleted on the first of every month unless within proximity to a Starbase. Anchored containers will have a 30 day timer from the last time they were interacted with and will be deleted when the timer expires unless in proximity to a Starbase.

so, i hink Drones, Fighters, Shuttles and Rookie Ships in space will be deleted on the first April

as for containers its not clear when the 30 days countdown starts..
A) 12 Mar
B) 1 Apr
C) some other date Rolling Eyes

How it should happen:
All untouched anchored containers will despawn 30 days after Trinity 1.1.
All anchored containers will despawn 30 days after their last usage if they've been left alone.
All drones/fighters/shuttles/stuff will go away the first of every month.
All unanchored containers should go immediately.
Anything in a ~ 75km radius to a POS is exempt from the above.

What has happened:
All containers were set to expire 30 days after T1.1
Unanchored containers have been left to their own devices for a bit.
We still haven't had the first of any month so the other junk is safe. However, it will most likely not go come next Tuesday. I say most likely because it isn't up to me. Take it with a grain of salt.

Why the conflict:
I wanted to optimize the code involved as there is so much junk around and it really had to scale better. The optimized version is awaiting deployment and has to go through the proper channels for that. Feel free to blame me for the arising confusion, I sure do. Wink

The 1st of every month:
It doesn't apply to containers. It's just an arbitrary date decided to clean up the other stuff that we couldn't slap an expiry date on for technical reasons. It feels rather deus ex machina but I see this more as a starting point than an immutable natural law set in stone. But the first of every month has nothing to do with secure containers.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion.Wink

After the cleaning, is it possible to have stats about what has disappeared ?

On the stats:
Obviously we'll have them. However, it is not up to me to decide whether they are made public or not.
Nevertheless, I know the good doctor EyjoG is interested in how this will affect the economy and everything is rigidly logged for him. So you might very well get some economic stats regarding the deletions in a QEN.

Heh, in order to get valid stats about the effects of the deletions on the economy, you guys must not change anything else while the deletions are going on. "Having only one variable" and all that.

Hopefully fixing bugs such as the Overview one won't affect the economy, but if there are any changes to suicide ganking, those might, heh. I'm not shamelessly plugging, or fishing for information, there's no need to reply or acknowledge my post, just keep in mind that Dr. EyjoG's quest for pure data might be unattainable.

This whle deleting of abandoned ships and anchored cans is something the playerbase has been clamoring for for awhile.
Ironically, come Tuesday it can be the great set up for:

Am I the only person that expects to log in after DT on Tuesday and find ALL POSs etc unanchored or gone ?

I hope this gets QA checked better than the last few patches.

All containers? Really? Um... are you sure? All of them? Has someone checked that containers inside stations aren't included in that?

I know it's obvious but, y'know, boot.ini.....

WoOt! Thank You CCP! ugh

I'll be able to see the belts again! Some belts literally had more cans than roids especially the ice belts. So will the eve gate get an exemption? Would be sad to see all that history go away. Sad

He didn't even show any interest that people actually use abandoned drones / shuttles / rookie ships, and if anybody tried to point it out, Mitnal suppressed it.
So I wouldn't hold your breath on a favourable outcome from him now. He's a joke.

them secure containers that haven't been touched in months definitely effect the economy!!!

EVE WILL DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

i don't think i will be able to take warping into a belt and lagging out because there are so many containers Sad
all the miners will quit, and then nooone will build stuff, and then some pvp will happen and all the stuff will be gone!!!

Cans ok.
Drones.. hmm. A month
Fighters should persist as they are a considerable amount of isk and also good to find.

Alternatively drones elft behind could spawn rogue drone ded's and random floating drone rats.

So if a corp had a lot of isk they could deposit 2000 drones leave them a month and spawn a single usecomplex that lasts a week.. (=
