Dont know if anyone has looked towards the game events but they mention some bright star showing up and every race wants to go explore it then theres nothing. Anyone know whats up with this?
They should seriously use this "mystery" to come up with a few new races or even allow access to the jovey who have somehow disapeared from eve.
Seriously though what's up with CCP having a few cool mysteries that they say all the races wants to know know about then suddenly they just stop writing about it.
CCP stop firing your writers or something I'm tired of getting interested in something then they stop writing about it.

So the only news about this is on the patch notes, nothing about the exploration teams that went to find out about it. Nothing about it what so ever besides oh yea we just made it dissapear in the patch and we prolly wont talk about it ever again (which wouldnt suprise me).
That was my point if you go through things that have happened in the world of eve you'de notice that theres a few places where CCP just stopped mentioning certain events. I have to deal with enough of that from my own government and CNN ><

My Guess is it has something to do with the Eve: The Empyrean Age novel by Tony Gonzales. To be released this year and I think he mentioned something about tying in events in the book with events ingame.

You're wrong, it was a bug, nothing more, it got fixed, time to move on. The news story meant nothing.

With all due respect you don't know that unless a dev says so, and they have been curiously silent on the matter. Generally they say 'xyz is a bug and will be fixed in the next patch' when they find a bug. Instead they let everyone speculate and kept it there far longer than was necessary. It's also abit of a strange bug to get, looking rather intentional. Just because it was changed in a patch doesn't mean that it was a bug.

Guess you missed all the fiction around Christmas related to it. I never understood all the posts going "OMG WHAT IS THAT STAR?!?" as it was in fiction linked from the front page O_o

i fear hes probably right, i think they didnt go public with that it was a bug because isd(the fiction writing department) had quite a blast with it. also, its sometimes fun to leave a bug in when it causes such a fuss, but seeing as there were a few known bugs with it(it beign targetable on some occasions, and some starbase guns firing at it) i think they finally desided to pull it.

The patch notes say "a mystery star" not "the mystery star". If it had a super special meaning they would probably give it a singular title, "The".

That or it means there will be more mystery stars.

Anyway, looks like right now it's just another mystery star. Stinkin' mystery stars popping up everywhere.

Carebear: "What's that bright light?"
CCP: "Oh it's just a mystery star... they show up now and again."
Me: "That or you were just podded and you don't have a clone."

Ok so alot of you are saying it was a bug, yet there writers placed it as a historicle like event for all the races in eve. So if it was a bug then they just fixed it I'm pretty ****ed, especially when the Amarr I believe where talking about it being a white hole and as someone who enjoys science ALOT I really wanted to see where the writers where going with it. I just posted this thread mostly because when eve does things like this it just disapoints me.
The whole EVE story background and the aspects of the game world are awsome and its the only true reason why I play it, so if they are just going to keep doing this like they did with the Jovey (who for some reason dont exist anymore) whats the point.
Who here would start reading a book series knowing full well that the author died and the series was never completed?
I mean how many people here was ****ed off about the wheel of time series. It's the same thing and I find it annoying.

The story writers are not related to the devs, some ISD writer decided to write a story about the bug, CCP didnt care and eventually they fixed the bug.

Also, who says the jovians don't exist anymore?

It is a shame, really, makes you wonder why they have races or a game background at all.

This was a real chance to get the game story moving again and it was thrown away.

QFT a little mystery would go a long way. CCP makes a glitch and captures the entire game bases attention and throws it away. tbh was hoping for an interesting 2 year plot. come on ccp. learn to work kid
