Hello, I just bought Schumacher's F1 car but for some reason I can't get the same laptimes as he does. Can someone tell me what's wrong with the car please?

There's nothing wrong with the car, it's just that you don't know to to drive properly and you don't know how to set it up and how to make it work at peak performance. The car itself is just a tool, it's the driver that makes all the difference.

In other words, things are not as simple as they might seem and looking at some DPS figure you're probably not using a proper setup and/or not taking into account any utility and tactical advantages. You have to learn the game and learn the strnegths and weaknesses of your ship and the target's ship.

Simply buying a character won't do the trick.

Ignore the first reply to this post.
He obviously didn't read what you wrote a common failing of his.

Take a look at the fittings forum. Minimatar are a well rounded race so you can pretty much fit there ships out to do what ever you please. To much to delve into here.

I don't see how flaming you is very productive but thats how some people roll. Your DPS can be improved with Gunnery/Missile/Drone skills depends how you want to fight. Make sure you fit your ship to reflect what bonus's it offers ie if you get bonus damage to projectile fit as many projectile turrets as you can.

Fittings and skills will improve your ships performance so reading all the stickies on the Ship fitting and skill forum will be a good start. Then once you have an idea where your going do a few searches on those topics.

Experience and Knowledge will get you far.

Good luck learning Eve there is a lot of it.

You can call me superficial, but the only thing I find significantly wrong with the Minmatar race is the appearance of their ships. I don't like the way they look, but that's just me. However, as I am new to the PvP world, personal experience is showing me that for now, until I build up my skills in combat, that it's best for me to not try to solo a Rifter...they do seem to be very fast, cheap ships, with reasonable DPS.

Generally Min is considered a very good race for PvP and adequate for PvE, however, it's also accepted that it can take a bit more time to fly well for a couple reasons (Caveat: as I have experienced it in last 6 months):

1) Many Min ships rely on speed and maintaining optimal range tactics which means your flying technique is a bit more manual with several ships if you wish to survive, since Min ships are notoriously paper thin compared to other races as a general rule. So getting used to handling that stiletto, rifter, stabber or vaga for example takes practice even for missions if you are pushing the envelope (ex. doing Level 3s in an AF).

2) Min ships rely generally on a mixed weapons platform: projectile and missiles. So you need to focus attention to building SPs in both to maximize your potential DPS.

3) Min ships are both shield and armor tankers. Do not ever mix those tanking abilities on the same ship, however, depending on the ship you undock with you will use either armor tanking or shield tanking (Ex. wolf- armor tanker and Jaguar - shield tanker). This means more time training both your shield and armor tanking skills up.

All that being said I can't help but wonder if your main problem is that you are in a ship class currently (BS) that is too large for your SPs. Bigger is not always better. By looking at your skills you might find that you will do more DPS in a smaller class ship. For example I use to do more dps in my Wolf then in my Hurricane due to my low skills for that class of ship and I still do more DPS in it then when I am in a Stabber. Try EFT with Battle Cruiser and Cruiser size ships using fits from the Scrapheap Challenge website (The threads dealing with ship fits on EVE-O have some really awful fits posted in them whereas the Scrapheap site has generally much better fit suggestions). You might find that for now you do more DPS in a lower class ship with your current skill point allocation.

Also, if you did purchase this account you will be better off learning the game in a smaller class ship first so you can avoid huge and embarrassing losses due to your current lack of knowledge of ship fitting and game mechanics.

Safe Travels.

Sorry guys i think i gave u all the wrong impression, i aint new to the game, played for a few goof years, pvp ***** but i always thought minmatar had a good decent chunk of dps in most of their ships, i have over 7msp in gunnery, its just with quickfit (Even tho it isnt 100% acurate" i get far less dps with mini ships than i ever did with gallante, amarr...

But i get what ur saying :)

To downsides theirs an upside :)

Pretty much, to over simplify things, if you ignore Speed Min ships are jack of all trades master of none.

So a wide range of support skills and clever fitting is required to get the best out of them.
But in saying that once you have the skills min ships will stand up to most other ships in PvP.

yes our minmatar ships deal less dps but and win when fighting other ships due to sig radius speed and fall off range.

ASLO, capless weapoins means that even if you run out of tank you can still gank.

you see less dps but some cool tradeoffs.

Minmatar...

Good: They have some fun ships. Their guns work rather well on certain Amarrian craft. Fast.

Bad: Need to train lots of different areas to excel. Ugly ships. That whole 'revolting against the slaver overlords' thing.

Laughing

OK ignore the silly roleplay stuff XD

you may or may not have heard this:

Flying minmatar is like going down a very long set of stairs in a office chair firing uzis.

Minmatars are fast, and they fire fast, but not much else...Simply put, for PvP you wanna be right next to them or way the hell away.

FYI, minmatar just happens to have the best active tanks in the game (sleipnir, mealstrom etc)(even though it is shields, not armor).
