You know, the kind of ship you just hop in and go "This feels right." with a good balance between gank and tank that i can use for ratting and maybe rejuvenate it for PVP when i get to the appropriate level. I'm thinking the myrmi, but i'm a horrible person and whenever a flashy red that's not a blue that warps in makes me immediately warp out, meaning i'll leave the drones (i lost a great, great many doing this). I'm Caldari but i fly gallente; Race isn't an issue.

Stuff that interests me, to make this thread easier:
The harbinger (i'm so shallow, but this looks incredible. also, a couple of guys in my corp fly 'em, and i can get them quite easily)
Brutix (It looks cool and, again, a huge, huge amount of people in my corp fly these)
Myrmi (more and more by the day, especially as i don't see any of them ever)
Vexor (they're supposed to be incredible in the right hands, right?)

Cost doesn't bother me, but please, nothing bigger than a BC

A rigged Myrm is a great ship. Most in my corp swear by them. I don't fly them, but based on what I have seen, they have a nice balance of tank and gank.

About your drones, lose enough of them and you will learn...

A ship is only as awesome as you make it, and feeling comfortable in a ship is often more a matter of your own skill and experience, and not how "awesome" the ship is.

IN the short term just fly an all t2 thorax, makes for awesome DPS, its the best gank t1 cruiser.

They can. Always made me wonder why the highest dps cruiser needs 5 meds on top of all the gank. Its vastly superior to the omen, even if you fit it with lasers (!). Stabber and caracal can go home right away.

And dont over look the vexor, thats a damned fine ship.

Gallente are easily top of the pile in tech 1 cruisers apart from for their tech 1 EWAR cruiser.

Don't bother with th celestis you'll die alot. The blackbird now is the best T1 ewar cruiser.

those ships look like stepping stones to me rather than a target.

If I were you I'd pick a command ship, a Recon or at the very least a HAC

and I'd only pick something minmatar

Brutix is a fantastic battlecruiser (one of the few tier 1 battlecruisers that isn't wholly outclassed by its tier 2 counterpart imo), and if you find that you really like battlecruisers (as I do) then you can set as a long-term goal working into the Gallente or Minmatar command ships.

I have always loved the Hurricane and am in the process of fully T2'ing out. Its a great ship with the double damage bonuses, able to easily hit 600 DPS, and it has the ability to tank fairly well, making it an effective ship. Plus it looks so awesome Very Happy

My next project will be a Harbringer

T2 Rupture will shred a thorax. Rupture is the best t1 cruiser in the game.

it's interesting you should say that; i'm quite big on command ships and i'm quite quite interested in the absolution (i've heard it's just fun as **** to fly) but i figured it'd be a bit ridiculous to say "hay guiz, i want to fly an absolution" after, what, a week or two? >_>;;

Tell me, though, why is Minmatar such a flavour of the month? (i know they're supposed to be fantastic and all, yeah, but why? I thought they were horribly skill intensive)

You lie horribly with those DPS figures. And it has a sh*t tank, notice its one of only 2 (out of 8)battlecruisers without a tanking bonus, and still fails to to beat the dps of the other one without a tanking bonus?

Minmatar is just not FOTM, it is also the fact that you will train skills from several diferent things that in the end, if you wish to start training for other race, you will need much less time than all the other 3 races.

you need to train for shield tanking, armor tanking, gunnery support skills, navigation, engineering, electronics, drones and missiles to be proficient in minmatar.

if you jump to caldari, all you need to train is hybrids and caldari ship skills.
if you jump to gallente, all you need to train is hybrids and gallente ship skills.
if you jump to amarr all you need to train is lasers and amarr ship skills.

can you say the same thing about the other 3 races?
