Agreed

TP has much better range and will also help dmg from drones in the gang. Save the web for the tacklers.

I have killed multiple nano ships with my torp/cruise ravens solely because they think ravens dont have webs. So I vote web for suprise factor :p

IF AND ONLY IF you can get in web range is a web better. And it will be LOTS better.

Web all the way, you DO have torps right?

If a nano ship gets webbed by a raven they deserved to die.

I'd say it depends.

If you have a fast ship with you, let him worry about getting in range to web.

You can usually easily TP if you can lock them, and TP is almost always useful with Torps.

For solo work I could see a web maybe being a must have, but I don't do solo Raven PVP so I wouldn't know.

If you solo in a raven, *you* deserve to die. TP wins again.

In my experience, you can count on your gang mates most of the time to handle web + scram. But TP is a little unusual for a tackler to fit, so I'd say bring one yourself.

Ideally it would be not fitting torpedoes on a pvp raven, but since you ask:

Target painter. Torps aren't affected by the guided missile precision skill, so when everyone and their brother comes at you in HACs and frigates you're going to need to somehow increase their sig radius so that your torps damage them in some useful way. This, of course, assumes that whomever you're engaging isn't outrunning your torpedoes Very Happy

Mind sharing a bit more of your wisdom regarding not using one of the absolutely strongest close ranged weapons in EVE for pvp? Such as a motivation?

That's why I don't do it, but I wouldn't assume that others won't want to try.

Edit: Torps have been great on Ravens since Trinity in my experience, I'm sure that most PVP Raven pilots would agree with me.

something else.

get a gangmate in a belli to run 2 painters.

thus every raven in the fleet has the bonus of having a painter without fitting it.

I gotta say I thought this was bs on first read but thinking back to when I am in my vaga if I see a raven its just instinct to switch to hail and get right in his face. Granted I havent fought to many ravens in a vaga since trinity patch yet and it might take a while to really learn that lesson so you might be able to rack up a fair few nano kills with a webber. especially if you can afford it go faction.

A friend of mine lost a nano zealot to a Raven exactly that way today.

Well, by minnie recons you mean those that get bonuses to both webbers and TPs at the first place? If you have one of those in gang, why bother to either TP or Web with your Raven? Laughing

I like the "webbing" surprise for the Raven tho...

Well, if I'm going to solo pvp in a raven, I have to consider the possibility that I'll be engaging people flying ships that are smaller than battleships. What's more, I have to take into account the possibility that I'm such a juicy target all alone in my Raven that any hostiles will hop in their vagas, nano-ishtars, myrmidons, crows, etc. and come attack me. So, since I'm in a situation where I'm vulnerable to being attacked by a lot of different ships, the vast majority of which will not be battleships, I would do myself a disservice by fitting weapons that are really only useful against battleships and capital ships (torpedoes).

They are slow, so the nano gank squads will outrun them. They have a huge explosion radies that, iirc, is not affected by the guided missile precision skill, so they will be wholly ineffective against anything smaller than a battleship. If you are brave/crazy enough to solo pvp in a Raven you'd be better off using cruise missiles. They're faster, so nano ships won't outrun them (at least, not all nano ships will), and they have a smaller explosion radius that is affected by the guided missile precision skill, so you can actually hit things smaller than a battleship for a meaningful amount of damage.

Just as an example, when I'm in my Cerb a Juggernaut torpedo hits me for 28.9 damage. That's really low, almost to the point of being wholly useless in a fight. The explosions are pretty to look at though...

Thats why you fit heavy neut to your torp raven. Anything fast enought (meaning smaller than BC) for your T2 long range torpedos (which are close to cruise missiles in exp rad/vel) are neuted so that they cannot use mwd anymore. Then they are not fast enought...

TP's are more useful overall. A Torp raven however isn't going to hurt anything moving remotely fast anyway, and odds are pretty good that you won't get into web range of anything that is moving that fast anyway.

I'd say TP is your best bet if you're going to choose since it will help against anything you're likely to hit with a torpedo anyway. If you can wedge one in there, a web never hurts though.

Yeah because slinging Kinetic torps at base 70% resist on kinetic ship is ALWAYS a good idea. Next time tell enemy to use thermal torps, where resist on cerb is 80%.

Navy EM torps (or javelin ones) will make your cerb cry. So will heavy neutraliser in your face :)
