Is it me or is flying around in my rifter more fun than my BSCool. For some reason I have put down my BS to take up my frig skills so that I can fly the l33t frigs that are out(interceptors if u didnt know) What do yall think and are the l33t jumping onto frigs to have some real fun without the risk of losing a 160M BS, U konw u got to have some bad ass loot on it. Even though u can only go against some cruisers, frigs and indys, or u will just plain get wasted!

Er, not true .. not by a long chalk.

I was messing with some F-E buddies in p3 last night, me in my interceptor vs their BS's. I inflicted more damage than I took (I think I was hit once)

Try it, it is more fun than you could imagine (especially when your realise that if you mate in a tempest gets one good hit on you it is new ship time )Very Happy

Don't get me wrong, I won't be taking my interceptors into fleet battles anytime soon, but my raven is docked almost all the time.

Frigates are the fun boats!

N.A.C recently started pouring a lot of time and resources into researching frigates fitted with modules you would normally reserve for much more expensive ships. The results have been a LOT of fun and frigates that are extremely hard to hit (two hits and they're done, still working on that one) and can get from one end of space to the other in little time.

All in all, it comes out to around a 100,000 isk investment for a LOT of fun. Who cares if you lose em... just buy another!

Side note... we will be equipping and selling these ships pre-fabbed if people are interested in buying the ships without having to round up the modules. Contact me or Nikolai Reidar in-game for more info.

I totally love frigates! My Kestral is a party in a can! Of course I haven't actually flown a BS, yet... Cool

Was actually going to tinker with a Merlin and a Rifter tonight to see what I can get them to do. Smile

In one of the movies occasionally posted around here (by SPVD I think but I may be wrong) you see someone zipping about in his Incursus of Doom (or something like that). Normally we watch our exhaust trails gracefully curve into arcs as we change directions. This little beast was moving so fast and so nimbly the exhaust trails were jagged...like forks of lightning.

Not sure what it can all do beyond flitting about annoyingly but it was impressive. I can see how darn near nothing could hit that thing (although I wonder what a pile of drones unloaded from a battleship would fare against him Wink ).

I totally agree. While I don't have an interceptor, I helped escort a friend in her Megathron by using my Griffon and acted in the role of scout. While a battleship would have a hell of a time hitting me, I am wondering if that would change if the battleship had small turrets on it. Anyone test that out before? It sounds a bit like blashemy putting small turrets on a battleship.

Warp in on BS, lock, activate dampener, fire cruise, warp out, rinse and repeat.

With 5 or 6 of you doing that, you can give most BS pilots some serious trouble.

Sometimes its viable to strafe the BS, as long as there is someone locking the BS down... 2MWD can out run cruise... or 1mwd rifter can Wink

I thought you have to wait for the missile to hit first before warping out or else warping out will cause the missile to do zero damage (or at least that is how I understand it). Give that the frig pretty much has to stick around.

By firing the cruise from point blank range, it will have hit by the time you enter warp. the whole point is warp in on BS, do an MWD flyby, fire cruise or 2 at point blank, as soon as it hits, warp away. Get several buddies in frigates doing the same thing, and watch the battleship run away after a few minutes

Interceptors are cool and all, but the real fun (as you've discovered) is in cheap frigates. Welcome to the fun, Motaka!Very Happy

Frigates are by far the most fun ships to fly. Battleships are a lot of fun to FIGHT in at times, but the trip to and from the fight is another matter. And if you DO use a frigate in combat, the feel of zipping around the battle is great. Smile

I personally love using my Claw interceptor (750 speed without ABs or MWD!), but an ordinary Vigil is almost as much fun. The thing's so maneuverable that it actually backs up and spins in place to turn around at full speed! The only problem with using frigates in combat is those blasted heavy drones. Rolling Eyes I was sparring with a buddy (Claw vs Tempest) and he released one Ogre... the blasted thing hit me from 30+ km away without fail. Still, for hit and run attacks I bet you could at least annoy a battleship to the point it leaves... but you'd never kill it with frigs because the heavy drones keep you from staying in warp scramble range. (Unless it was a LOT of frigs)

Still, the only time I ever leave my frigates is if I positively HAVE to have a bigger ship to do the job. Very Happy

Why not use torps? (more damage no?)

They don't fit on frigates.
