What would people like 2008 to be about in Eve? We already have ambulation and factional warfare slated for some time in the not too distant future. But are there any other things people would really like to see or might have spied devs talking about and could become really excited about?

Or perhaps some event or war or something your corp is planning that all comes together in the next year?

I personally would like to see 2008 be the year tactical environments are finally implemented

I would liek to see nw ship classes....

Salvage class with salvage misisons given from concord....Meaning MAX grind for easy sec increse and cash...

Civilian Luxuary ships with minimal weapon capabilities for pimping it up on those nights you dont fancy PVP/PVEing but want to sit out side a station and go through your audit logs....sigh

Custom ships...so like Lord Evangelians Modified Tristan, or Cyvoks Modified Avatar...whe reyou can mod your ships and make they a little more custom...meh!

I dunno I love eve the way it is really with exception to the addition of ambulation, factional warfare and planatary flight...which I WANT NOW!

Dare I ask for Amarr anything? How about our missing frigate?

And to the OP I saw a thing on TV where they tracked down the beautiful Afghani woman in your sig (far right pic) a few years ago. Sadly life has been hard on her and you can barely tell she is the same woman (indeed can't tell at all really). Just an aside...thought you might be interested.

EDIT: Here is a then and now pic I was talking about. See what I mean?

Yeah. It's so disappointing that CCP just repaints old ships and give them new classes. I don't give a **** wther or not that is realistic (re-fitting vehicles/ships/planes to fill new roles) but in a computer game I want cool ships.

Bring in faction warfare. Spice it up a bit, the game is too sandbox at the moment.

* Remove the PVP centered around gate blobs and POS blobs and finally add structures in space that can be built/anchored by players and become objectives of fights.

* add player-anchorable sentry guns to gates like promised years ago, so that not every random roaming blob can camp your gates easily ... making a system or region secure should not be only a matter of how many people you can get online at the time of day when it's attacked, but also a matter of strategic investments / building defenses (other than POS hardeners...)

* remove all the stuff that doesn't scale and is thus useless when blobs become bigger: siege mode, triage mode (no remote aid = you are dead when hostile blob > X), POS and Outpost limitations (POS and Outpost is dead when hostile blob is big enough no matter what your investment is - not realistic, players should be able to add as many guns as they like if they can pay the modules and fuel costs, to outposts as well).

* make expensive stuff worthwhile, currently a large part of faction modules and ships are never used because they're not worth the price / worse than T2 etc.

*Tactical Enviroments
*Basic level of planetary interaction
*New ship hulls (as mentioned before)

Instead of all this new stuff, how about module timers and survey scanner that shows which roids you are targeting eh? But knowing CCP we get another 10 heats before that.

What I want for 2008:

- New ships! Ships not based on any of the current ones!
- To see steps taken toward planetary interaction!
- Steps toward Ambulation! and Please - NO - FPS keyboard character control!!!!!!!!

I'd like to see the complete game mechanics overhaul I recall being mentioned. I abhor the way stargates and stations work in this game...as well as the relationship between ship classes.

I'm not really sure how hard the concept is to grasp, but several of you tards always complain about this everytime a new ship is released.

Tech 2 ships = variant of an existing ship

So Deimos is another ship built on the Thorax hull, is it really that hard to get?

What I want:

* T3 modules and ships. Hyperspecialized stuff, requiring high levels in T2 skills. NOT just upgraded T2 ****. New models as well, not modified current models.

* More faction ships. Upgraded resists on current faction ships, to place them between T1 and T2 and give people a reason to actually use them as something other than decoration.

* Moar hamsters

Some things that everyone else seems to want, but I personally hope CCP doesn't give any priority to atm are:

* Planetary flight: it takes pilots out of space, which is where the action is supposed to be. It would almost certainly require the development and implementation a totally separate set of game mechanics, which they'll take months, maybe years, to sort the bugs out of as they balance bug fixing planetary flight with bugfixing space flight.

* Ambulation combat: development of an Eve FPS is the last thing they need to do when there are so many space bugs still left unfixed. I understand it wouldn't necessarily be the same coders and animators and so forth working on both this and out-of-station Eve, but I don't want the inevitable internal rivalries between coding teams vying for priority impeding development of the main Eve game. Call me cynical.

NO! Carebears cannot have it that easy. Granted it would make the price of rigs plummet which I'm all in favor of, since rigs let you customize your ship that much more. It'd be neat to make rigging viable for T1 ships other than BC/BS. Still, I can't see salvaging as a mission objective by itself. Something just seems wrong about it.

Rolling Eyes

New T1 ships that CCP added during my time in Eve:

Destroyers, Battlecruisers, Freighters, Dreadnaughts, Carriers, Titans, Mining Barges. Prolly a couple more classes I forget.

In response to people saying "new ships And not just a reskin".
As I just pointed out we have a lot of new ships added over the years, and T2 is supposed to be an augmented T1 technology.
Thats why you add a T1 ship or mod and ingredients to get a T2 one, thats just the whole idea behind T2 ships, it wont change.

From what I have read about what T3 MIGHT BE, I think it will have a lot to do with heat.
Basically its designed to be overheated and is better than T2 when in heat mode, it then drops to a much lower level when heat is deactivated.

But what I am hoping for 2008? Warfare that doesnt require blobs of 200 vs 200 lagfests where you get 3 hours of waiting then 10 minute of lag/fighting.

Quoting this for truth.

Sometimes I feel like I need the fine motor control of an autistic savant hopped up on speed just to rearrange my UI how I like it.

Or to make it do stuff.

Or anything for that matter.

I do not want to see:
  • T3
  • Ambulation
  • Planetary flight

All of the above are just shiny things which CCP will no doubt introduce with little to no regard of whether it adds anything to the game. I have never seen convincing ideas for how any of them could improve the game beyond content for content's sake.

I do want to see CCP take a good look at what they've introduced already and honestly think about what they've achieved and whether it's working. I want to see lag in fleet battles reduced so that large-scale warfare can be the epic event it should be. I want to see the POS/sovereignty system scrutinised and perhaps reassessed or tweaked. I want CCP to read through the list of known bugs and fix them properly, one by one. I want the tired rainbow background nebulae to be completely removed and rebuilt from scratch so that a unique background is generated for each system, preferably with the colours toned down or with a client-side option to remove them entirely and just see black space. I want a group of game designers and that economist guy to sit down and think hard about how to turn low sec from the depressing desert it is into something worthwhile and lively. I want to see warp to zero removed in 0.0, and local in 0.0 to show only people who have spoken. I want pirate implants to be exposed for the overpowered farce they always have been and to be nerfed. I want reasons to go to war other than pride and boredom.

I want CCP to think about their game and do something better than sellotape a few shiny things onto it. Then, in 2009, I'd love to see CCP thinking about T3, ambulation and planetary flight.
