Did anyone get to see the review on TV. I read a written one on the website but it has no date on so I have no idea when that was posted? Does anyone have a youtube or other link to the TV review. The written one didn't seem totally representative of EVE Online as a whole but a single sided view of the game. So I am interested to see what the TV review was like.
This is the review I found: X-Play Review - edit: from the post I have gotten this review is over 3 years old. So any links to the current TV episode review?
Thanks

Wait, when did they write this review?
Quote:
Even if this kind of gameplay appeals to you, it's clear that "Eve" was released too soon. The developers are scrambling to add features and address game-ruining bugs at the rate of almost a patch per day. While it's not the unplayable mess of the "World War II Online" debut, "Eve" is still firmly in the beta stage in all respects except monthly fees.

One patch per day? Confused

Looks like a very old review.

Given that one of the title headers was:

"I'm a beta, Jim, not a final release"

I think it's safe to say he was talking about Trinity, so it's fairly recent.

Seriously, aside from Bjork, we here at "X-Play" are hard pressed to name anything substantial to come out of Iceland. Despite the odds, "Eve Online" is the new massively multiplayer space exploration game by Icelandic software company, CCP. "Eve Online" enters into the over-crowded MMO arena urging people to explore, bounty hunt, and mine their way through a virtual universe. This week we'll see what the "X-Play" long-range sensors say about this entrant's survival chances.

Definitely old.

Except that the first comment is posted on October 10th, at which point Trinity was two months from release.

I believe it. I've only been playing a couple weeks now and unless you sink at least a week into playing this game, you hardly scratch the surface of what it is. The tutorials are weak and very basic. They don't teach you much beyond a meager grasp of the game's mechanics and the worst part, after the first tutorial, what? It gives no instructions, hints, or even clues that there are 2 other newbie tutorials you can do to learn more or even that there is more to learn out there. So the game kinda leaves you hanging.

Rookie help channel is nearly completely worthless. If its not being spammed with 50 entries a second and you can't even read when someone happens to respond to you, it's a rookie channel, how much help can another noob be?

One of the saving graces in this game is the player base itself though. There seems to nearly always be someone in local chat willing to help/offer suggestions/give out pointers to just about any problem you're having. Something you don't often encounter in other MMOs.

For someone who wants a game to fight in, pwn sum face or omgwtfbbqpwn nubs, this game will disappoint because 12 year olds don't have the patience it takes to get to that point in this game, thank GOD. For us older farts that realize you have to work at something to be good at it, this game should outlast about every other MMO out there.

I'm going to chuckle at this one. Anyone here watch that show for real? I watched it a few times because hey.. Morgan Webb, not too hard on the eyes. But I stopped watching when their reviews had the credibility of IGN.com.

If you're a very young gamer, yes, this show and its reviews will hold quite true. For the rest of us grown-ups, it's a joke.

"The game has a limited story.." WHAT??? I read all of the fictions and chronicles for nothing??

"The manual, thin to begin with, is horribly out of date as the game mechanics are adjusted all the time" This makes me believe that this is an outdated review.. but who knows. I know nothing of any manual since I never grabbed the box copy way back then.

Laughing Chuckles all around tbh. This won't hurt EVE in the least as X-Play's audience won't be able to put other kiddie MMO's down.

EDIT: Yeah, just read that about the comment on there. Duurr, so it's obvious it's old and I'm a noob for typing so slow. Yada yada yada.

This is the only other real thing I got: The Feed: XP and Boot.ini. So I am assuming their website isn't updated that regularly.
I think this is the episode that it would happen (ORIGINALLY AIRED: 12/19/2007). I think curiosity more than anything else makes me want to see it.

I saw the beginning of that episode, and it didn't mention EVE, so I changed the channel.

EDIT: also remember reading the same review before that episode aired.

that review is over 3 years old, at the time they did the review is was much much harder for noobs starting off so the reviewers didnt play long enough to really get the game they only did what they needed to make a review

it really does need to have another review as so much has changed over the years

The review linked above is in fact old, however the episode in question is the MMO episode and there is no review of Eve there but rather they just talked about Eve and the Trinity expansion which they spoke rather favourably of.

Of course playing for a week you only scratch the surface. An MMO or RPG game where you can do everything in it within a week is a rather boring game, some of us prefer depth.

And if you want a really indepth tutorial, it would be at least 12 hours long, and you don't really wanna do that. The tutorial does set you up with enough to go out from there. And then, the other tutorials you get if you hit the Aura button (white face), can help you figure things out, or decide what you might like.

And yea, the Rookie Channel is horrible, but the n00b corps you get dumped in generally have at least some people who know a lot.

Thank you sir. Guess I will just have to go with that as there seems to be no way to watch it except if you have G4 TV.

You've got to be high, or just playing a different game, to write the above linked review.

My guess is that this review must be old.

I played eve in beta and right after on a trail.

it was bad.

that review is very on spot, I was far to young to really wrap my head around it but eve-online was bad.
the X-play review recently is about trinity.

um... you guys really don't think they are talking about eve now do you?
that's kinda sad you posted a link to a 3 year old review and some clueless noobs are saying that they believe this is current, in case you don't know how X-play works the review won't be put up on the site untill 2 days more. it's far to earily for a review on the 19th to be up allready.

1 patch I day, oh god I remember the pain. :P but they had to release it, or they would of died.
anyone remember the original and only rollback?

2/5....youy do realize this is a review done by G4 TV. The audience they cater to is the little kiddies who play Halo 3, and Counterstrike and, Rainbow Six. Along with the crew who plays simple-minded games such as WoW, EQ2, and SWG.

You cant be a wizard, bard, or an elf in Eve....what else did you expect, tbqfh.

I watched most of the MMO special and totally missed any reference to EVE. Of course who wants to talk about a game thats been around for 3 years, had countles minor and 3 or 4 major updates, all free, and one of the few or only running from the beginning on a single server universe.

Hell we even have grinding if you want to make the WoW monkeys happy.

Getting kind of tired of that. Course them not talking about the games keeps out the grinder geeks
