The Gold Mangate, the Opux Luxury Yaught, the Imperial Issue Apocalypse. They are all unique, and probably never to be issued again.
Now these ships, I haven't heard of a single new super rare ship introduced in a long time. Please - will CCP consider introducing events for these ships for those of us who weren't in the game all those years ago?
If it's lack of Aurora voluntears (who don't exist) I would be willing to offer my services for an event over the New Year.

It'd be amusing if CCP gave out a yacht-style ship for Christmas to the playerbase. Wonder how long it would take for them to all be destroyed?

It was said a while back, when the last tournament's prizes were annouced and didn't include unique ships that CCP were looking to move away from offering unique ships as a reward.

I can't find a link offhand, but it was with regards to the implications on the economy and a huge other load of reasoning that I can't remember.

Yeah, they give out a unique ship, and the new owner becomes an mega instant billionaire.

They might as well just spawn ISK.

I could have sold the yacht to become a mega instant billionaire (when I was poor), but I chose not too, because the yacht is just so much more then ISK, it was really tempting not being able to afford a battleship and having this ship I don't fly much worth tens of billions of ISK sitting in the hangar.

But most players who will recieve a nice something from CCP will probably sell it off to the highest bidder, even snowballs were not safe from players hoarding them to gouge players for them.

There is one tricky thing that has to be accounted for when dealing with virtual economies. Especially virtual economies that are designed to make a profit in the real world economy ($ for ccp)

Basically "fun" it's fun to think that you could be lucky enough to win some super special or super elite ship. It's fun to be instantly rich. I don't think it should be commonplace enough to crash the economy. But, I think it's important to have such things in game.

It would be boring if everything could be obtained by everyone all the time.

I still say a universe-wide free ship to tool around in would be fun.

C'mon, CCP. Call it a "social experiment" on how quickly the community can reduce something common to something barely found anywhere. Smile

the tribal and state gizmos were so pricey Only because they were both rather awesome And super-rare and limited.

why not have more things that are not really rare and certainly not awesome (in a stat viewpoint)

ideas would include:

(corp) Shuttles, (corp) being of course replaced with the corp who sold it in their LP store. standard shuttle, Maybe basic racial shape + cooler paint and logo

make it more slightly more lp expensive then a faction frig and still, you know, just a shuttle.

because, well.

because.
