Hey guys. So, I've been playing off and on for a year and a half or so, and every time I log on I start aiming towards a different ship class. Recently, I've been putting some serious thought into making a dedicated logistics ship character (probably Scimitar - I love that thing).

What I'd like are some opinions from experienced small gang, large gang, and fleet pilots on logistics ships and their general practicality and usefulness. Obviously they have a use, but what I'm really curious about is if that use outweighs the fact that they're so hard to keep alive. A logistics ship, one would think, would always be a primary target. So, for those of you who have used such ships, or ganged with them, how do you feel about them overall? As for whether or not other logistics ships will be alongside me, just assume sometimes yes and sometimes no. Thanks in advance for advice.

Watch a few fights from the last Alliance Tournament. That should give you an idea of just how useful logistics ships are in gang warfare and how to do deal with getting primaried.

Actually, I had been hoping to find some videos of them in action. Could you maybe repost the link though? That one just leads back to this post. You'd think that searching for such things would work, but for whatever reason it's turning up dry.

2 Guardians make for seriously effective logistics, considering if you get them to send cap to each other each one can run 4 LARGE remote reps and an MWD. permanently. It also allows them to heal each other to some extent. The only real vunerability to this is ECM.

Thier not that hard to keep alive now, esp the Scimitar
They can boost huge amounts at 70km and outrun many nano-HACs.

If chased by anything faster their DPS is usualy low or mitigated by overshooting from high speed MWD chasing, dive into close range with your friendlys and they wont follow you in.
Best option is to sit at 70km warp alined

Problem with the Scimitar I find is its lacks PG but excess CPU, so can fit an odd but usfull..
3x Large shield Transporter
1x Recon Probe Launcher
Cargo can fit lots of probe/nanite paste

Even in corp gang-running level 4s and 5s they are very valuable and leave the primary damage-bestowers concentrating strictly on that task; no need to have to perma-run tanks. For players that have problems handling level 4s a friend in a logistics showing up at the right time keeps them from popping also. A lot of times we will deploy one to "help" in a mission where a corpmate is in potential danger because of scramblers...

And don't forget those nasty 0.0 complexes where many times the only thing that can tank the damage is a AF with multiple remote reppers. Than ~71km range is very helpful Cool

Yeah, and Logistics ships lead to Fleet command ships, which look like a lot of fun to fly.

I remember people used to say not to bother at all with logistics ships, what's changed? Why are they now respected?

They were changed so that they can use large remote repair/transfer modules.
And if memory serves, they also had a significant reduction in signature radius as well as getting improved agility.

The alliance tournament demonstrated their awesome.

However they have 'recently'* had a in increase in speed, agility, reduction in sig radius, and HAC resists. Oh, and a switch so they can use two 'types' of logistics effectively, along with logistics drones.

However the problem remains, that their cap use reduction is the difference between 83 cap/cycle at level 4, and 56 cap/cycle at level 5.

Which is a really huge difference in cap use, and means the difference between being able to sustain 2-3 if you try, and run 6 if you really try.

I think I've decided my path in Eve. I love everything about my Drake and the style of play that is associated with it. Logistics ships and especially Fleet command ships seem like an excellent next step.

I've found my end game. Now, let's start working on those leadership skills! (After my BC V finishes in a couple of weeks, of course!)
