Yes, we all know Trinity requires SM3.0 card, but I haven't seen the rest of the requirements (minimum or recommended) posted yet. As I work for a gaming site I put on my Magic Press Hat and asked CCP directly and actually got them.

EVE Online: Trinity System Requirements Revealed

----

The system requirements for the Classic graphics content will remain the same.

The system requirements for the Premium graphics content are:

Minimum (if you just want it to run):

* Windows 2k SP2 / XP / Vista
* Intel/AMD based computer with CPU speed equal or greater than 1.8GHz
* RAM: 1024 MB or more
* HD space: 10 GB
* Graphics card: must support DX9 Shader Model 3 (nvidia 6xxx series or ATI x1300 or later)
* Drivers: DirectX® 9.0c

Recommended (If you want to be able to turn on all the bells and whistles):

* Windows 2k SP2 / XP / Vista
* Intel/AMD based computer with CPU speed equal or greater than 2.4GHz
* RAM: 2048 MB or more
* HD space: 10 GB
* Graphics card: NVIDIA 8800 series, or ATI X1900 series cards.
* Drivers: DirectX® 9.0c/DirectX® 10

----

*Shameless Self-Plug*: The YouGamers site also has a nifty tool called Game-o-Meter. It allows you to use a small activex/java widget to check your system hardware and compare them to the requirements (based on 3DMark benchmark data - both YouGamers and 3DMark are published by Futuremark), pointing out which bit isn't good enough if you don't meet them.

You can check if EVE Online: Trinity will run on your system here:

Okay...so what happens if my system can't run the min requirements for trinity? Am I forced to stop playing Eve Online?

If you actually read the post:

"The system requirements for the Classic graphics content will remain the same"

If you can play eve now, you can still play it after trinity.

Also I call BS on the recommended with all eye-candy, I have an 8800GTS overclocked and I dont get smooth gameplay at all. This is SiSi though, so I assume there will be further optimisations.

I could be wrong but won't 700 people in local slow you down quite effectively? I went a few systems out to test.

Okay, so when trinity comes out, i shouldn't bother downloading it then?

I really need a new rig...this one is going on 4 years :(

Guess I'll be saving up for a birthday gift to myself.

Read what he said. The classic version with the older models but the new engine will run on the current spec and will perform alot better. The premium version is the one with all the new models.

Yes and when I turned shadows off I got 80FPS while looking at 70 ships. Nothing to do with server lag. 10FPS with shadows on.

I also recieved a similar hit when in Amarr. Shadows killed it down to 30-40FPS outside station, as soon as I did a mission I once again had 10-20FPS.

Anyway, no point discussing pre-release software. CCP are still optimising.

Why does it require 10GB of disk space exactly? my SISI install with the graphical content is below 4GB :/

Not really. NVIDIA has new GeForce 8800M (M for Mobile) but I don't know if laptops with that chip are out yet - and it's slower than the desktop 8800 series.

Here's NVIDIA's page on 8800M

Expect to pay arm and leg for a laptop with 8800M in it... Rolling Eyes

I've got a laptop with a good processor and 1GB ram on it, I was mostly wondering if I could purchase the video card for it (current one is a fairly unimpressive 128 Meg ATI card). Of course, that will probably be outside my budget. Sad

Generally speaking you can't upgrade your graphics card on a laptop.
You might be able to get one upgraded by a workshop or be a lucky soul with a laptop that supports this kind of upgrade (like some alienwares).

What is the laptop brand and model? Most laptops will not let you upgrade the GPU, but there are some...

HP Pavilion, I think a ZD8000 (sorry, currently at work with a different computer). Knowing HP it doesn't seem likely, I was just curious. Thanks for the helpful responses. Smile

No clue - that's what the email from CCP said.

Note that CCP pages also list 6GB as the requirement for "old" EVE Online.

I'd be very surprised if my EVE folder went above 3 GB even with the new graphics content installed, to be honest. It's barely 1.60 GB right now.

I have closer to the "minimum" requirnments, and I am getting an average of 45-70fps in space on Singularity.

Yes, you just have to stop playing. Rolling Eyes

Maybe this way the people who can't keep up with even basic, widely-known news will get weeded out.

Anyone tried new content on PC with 512mb of RAM? I know that swapfile is used then it's not enough physical memory but I was already fooled once by game checking amount of physical memory on startup and refusing to run.

It would be no fun to upgrade PC with the single game in mind and still not be able to run it.
