I've been wondering, will the new Trinity solve some of the long standing minor graphical issues with the game. Such as;

If Projectile/Hybrid/Laser round miss, they should actually miss the ship.

Everyone has shields, yet only Caldari or Minmatar ever see them, and only when they activate mods. Shields should be visible on impact, and if stuff is hitting the shield, it should hit the shield and not the ship.

Effects should be upgraded in line with ship designs and textures to form a uniform upgrade to the eve experience

Guns snap back into place after firing a round and being deactivated.

Guns snap in and out of existence when cloaking.

Some drawdistance values for ships need to be looked at.

Stations seem to not fit the scale from the outside as they do on the inside (I realise they were boosted in size once, but I'm still not sure it looks right)(can be remedied either by making stations bigger and/or making station environments smaller)

Mining Lasers should have a Timer under their target, like Tracking Disruptors.

And then I'm wondering about general game mechanics possibly changing, such as;

Bumping - a strange result of the movement game mechanics, and should be replaced with collision damage and resulting velocities, for both/all parties involved.

How tracking is calculated (orbiting an object at a very high speed causes you miss, even when the object is stationary)

From what I've heard the graphics update is models and textures - backgrounds and effects will be coming later down the line, so most of the stuff you mentioned will not be fixed.......

Although the devs say it will help with lag - here's hoping it does help, a lot!

i'm still waiting to actually see missile launchers appear on ships, nothing like a launcher coming from the side of your ship and a large rod of metal come out of it Laughing

Not as graphically advanced as the shield impacts in this video but the idea is there, and I agree.

Keep in mind it takes a few mins for the video to get going: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaNO6v9eEZg

You want ships to take damage from bumping into each other? That has got to be one of the worst ideas I have heard in a while. You would get damaged all the time! And if you bump a ship in high sec and it does damage, do the cops come and kill you? If not can you bump miners to death and nothing will happen to you? or do they come kill you when the ship you killed by ramming it is destroyed? Think things through

If your implying to the ship ramming the other one in the video, no not at all, I just meant the shield effects. Shocked

Yeah, and what would happen when a freighter undocks and bumps everything outside the station?Laughing

I agree with most of what you mentioned, if it isn't done this patch i hope it is somewhere down the line. They should also fix the engines effect when that particle stream (or whatever it is) overlaps when you drop out of warp.

Actually, the bumping thingy isn't new... Well, with the effects - /SIGNED, absolutely.Very Happy

With the bumping... Well, a big ship should take less damage than a small one, and only if you destroy the other ship there should be punishment. Oh yes, that will be lots of low-priced high insured ships with no equipment ramming some macro mining hulks or covetors... Or capital fleets that don't just shoot at each other anymore, they just bump as much as they can take on their way through the enemy fleet. Oh, and don't forget the battleship pilot that runs his annoying level 2 mission by just flying through the mission objective. A whole set of new ideas! Very Happy

Otherwise, don't allow shuttles that have the weight of a Chevrolet bump away industrial ships that have the weight of a panamax ship.. You have to agree that this example makes the current mechanics look a little bit - well, call it "not convincing"...Smile

Bumping damage is one of the worst ideas I have heard. You cant actually control the motion of your ship in eve, especially under laggy conditions. Furthermore, its just another way for a blob to kill you with you having no possible defense, since you cant even move out of the way with any degree of accuracy.

Personally, here are some of the effects I want to see:
-Armor repair should be a green wave going from stem to stern.
-Energy Pulse Weapons should be more like the flak turrents in Battlestar Galactica.
-Aterburners should have their own effect.
-All shield hits should be visible (much like start trek ships).

Further more each weapon type should have a more distinctive effect:
-Railguns should have a similar effect than ppc in mech warrior 3.
-Blasters should be a single short ball of energy.
-Artilleries should not have minimal tracer effect but should show smalls explosions on the points of impact.
-Autocannons should be a burst of several tracer rounds.
-Beam lasers should stay be active for about 3-4 seconds.
-Pulse lasers should be a series of lasers that last less than .5 seconds each.

I hope this a joke seriously! Its gonna be very ugly having a sweet high detailed ship in the front and this c64 like moons in the back. I hope CCP isnt so stupid....

as to collison damage No No No!

Micro warp drive to a gate - Splat!
Undock at Jita 4-4 - Boom!

It will just cause to many problems other idears have some merit though.
