my clone has almost 960k skill points (I have a Beta clone). I played a Warlock in WoW and figured a ship with similar functions in EVE would work well for my playstyle. I could be wrong but it's an assumption to go on anyway. As to starting as a Miner, I tried Rerolling but I just couldn't get attached to the new clone. So I came back to the old one, flawed though he may be for combat types of things. My stats are the following.
Intelligence 12 Perception 7 Charisma 7 Willpower 10 Memory 17 My skills are as follows. I am debating going electronic warfare since I have the skills to be good at it and it seems warlockish. I am a Gallente Intaki and I currently fly a Catalyst.

Gallente, they got pets (drones) and have been the flavor of the month now for pretty much a year if not more just as warlocks. Shame you didn't ask like 3 months ago otherwise I could have said they got perfect drain ships as well, but alas the nerf to nosses kinda threw that one out of the window. Btw prepare to be flamed . |

Afaik a warlock in wow can do pretty good damage, is paper thin, can nos, and can deploy a single drone (he can carry multiple types of drones which are good at different things. Also a warlocks drone listens to his master. |

Quote: Warlocks are masters of shadow, flame, and demonic power. They are a robed class that excels at plaguing their enemies with disease or curses, hurling bolts of fire or shadow energy across the battlefield, and summoning demons to aid them in combat. While warlocks are powerful casters that deal damage from a distance, their demonic powers can also protect or support their allies in battle, or even summon other players from across the world using ritual magic to conjure portals.
Warlocks have both powerful damage spells (primarily dealing over time) and debuff spells that work well in conjunction with each other and with the abilities of their group mates. They have Curses for many occasions; in fact, they can easily be considered the best debuffers in the game. Their pets, too, help with the damage dealing and grant the Warlock extra abilities to put to use. They can also control crowds well with Seduction and Banish, and provide limited support in the form of their summoned stones.
- Ranged attacks (railguns, artilleries, missiles) - Pets (drones) - Calling in allied support (cyno skills) - DOTS (no dots in this game) - Debuff spells (web, scram, tracking disrupt, ecm, sensor dampeners) - Support role (logistics ships) Go for Gallente for the drones that they use. Everyone else can use drones. But a Gallente battleship (Dominix) gets a bonus to drone damage. Then just train the skills for cyno, webifiers, warp scramblers, tracking disruptors, ECM, and sensor dampeners. Eventually just train all frigate skills to level 4 for each race. Then you can take whatever ship out that you want for whatever the situation calls for. |

Edited by: Mulletstation on 18/09/2007 20:23:29 Arguably, warlocks in WoW are the best class when it comes to PvP. Their play style is to outlive their targets due to taking them out of combat (in eve= jamming) and slowly bleeding them to 0 health. I'm not sure what you'd want to fly, but this may help some of the experts help you.

Ok to explain unlike WoW, there is no way to power level through this, it takes huge investment and time,
If your looking for warlock like gameplay this is the best way i can think of to help you out,
Get All learning skills to lvl 4 first, the advanced and primary-
Train Drone Interfacing to lvl 4, train drones to lvl 5, train scout drones to lvl 4
Get engineering lvl 4-5, Get electronics to lvl 4-5 makesure to get propulsion jamming lvl 3 and energy systems + grid to lvl 4
makesure to get battlecruisers to lvl4 and cruisers to lvl 4
makesure to have mechanics lvl 4-5, repairsystems lvl 4-5 and have hull upgrades lvl 4-5, and armor compensation skills all 4 of them to lvl 2-3
makesure navigation is lvl 4-5 and evasive manuvering lvl 4-5
for gunnery makesure to get, surgical strike, rapid firing, weapons upgrades, advanced weapons upgrades, trajectory, and range skills all to lvl 4, get either a choice of blasters or rails,
all this training will take at mininum maybe 3-4 months and u will be flying like a pro, lol i know it looks really hard and confusing but these are the base skills you WILL NEED to survive in this game,

Edited by: Asestorian on 18/09/2007 20:26:09 I don't think there is any specific ship class that you could aim for to fulfil your desires to be a warlock. In EVE you generally have a selection of ships, and use the most appropriate one for a situation, rather than a single, can-do-anything, ship. In fact, trying to fit your ship to do all things at once makes you a guaranteed kill if you go into combat to be honest.
I'm struggling to think of things that really fit well with what a warlock does. I suppose Gallente are the most obvious option when it comes to the pet, in that they have the biggest selection of drone specific ships, but beyond that, it's a little difficult.
There is no such thing as a DOT in this game, so that ones out completely. There aren't really debuffs either. The closest thing is ECM, specifically things like dampeners or tracking disruptors, which do actually decrease stats. You've also got NOS/Neuts for sucking/killing cap, and I think warlocks do something similar, so they kind of help. Gallente have ships that can be fit well to do many of these things.
Yeah.. That's about all I can think of really. The only problem here though is that the Gallente gunships are almost always close range. This is mostly because except in large gangs, long ranges are undesirable in combat, due to the nature of the warp scramblers and the like, as well as long range attacks being generally weaker.
Ships I'd go for if I wanted to be a "warlock" would probably be: Ishkur, Vexor, Ishtar, Myrmidon, Eos, Dominix. Drones, often fitted with some NOS/Neuts, and are also often fitted with things like dampeners I believe. That's the closest I can think of. |

WoW is World of Warcraft?
If you're coming from warcraft, then here's a few things to keep in mind.
1) You will die, there is no safe spot; so don't complain about CCPs apathy. 2) You can't grind your way to the top; you have to fight your way there. 3) If you want the easy route, pick Caldari as most newbies do. |

He's asking what ship he should fly. Which of the ships in EVE that has abilities (or bonuss for abilities) most similar to those abilities that a Warlock has in World of Warcraft. However, noobish as I am, I don't think the question makes much sense. I have played a Warlock in WoW, and they do two things: One is they have a large, tough pet that can tank, and the other is that they cast Damage-over-Time spells (DoT). The later doesn't have an analogous phenomena in EVE, but as for pets I imagine that'd be drones of some kind. I know nothing about drones, except mining ones, so I have to step down and ask others to take over. |

But seriously. To Salpad: Drones cannot tank. They are flimsy little things designed either to do some damage, or to do another specific job like try to jam, web or neut the target. |

Drones are more likes a Dot than a pet.
Warlocks have to micromanage their DoT's - Drone pilots need to micromanage their drones.
Dots are a fire and forget type of offense - Drones other than FoF missles are the closest thing u got. |
