Can I point out to non-US people that, like me, had a heart attack at the postage from atlanta that the book is also available from Amazon.

I got mine too yesterday. Getting the art of EVE under retail price ftw. ;)

Anyhow, it is a nice looking book. I very much enjoy the thoughts and ideas presented by the art department and really adore the original pencil sketches of the ships and races in the game. There are some very good parts in the book, such as the example of the drake where you first see the vector model, then the surfaces, then the textures, ligth effects and finally the whole ship.

That said, I rather dislike the fact that there are so many TRINITY models in the book; I mean, I do like them but 24 pages of new models (and only three out of those 24 show the model with new textures) seems like filler to me. Because the book actually ends with those untextured models, I was left feeling somewhat disappointed.

I still maintain that the book is rather good (esp for the price I got it for) and that the first chapters of the book are the best, but would have loved to see something else in the last chapter than just those 21 untextured models.

Hmm I'm still deciding on whether to purchase this book or not. Perhaps you could post high res scans of each and every page including the front and back covers as this might help me make up my mind.

I just bought it yesterday from my friendly local gaming store and it looks great!

I think it could have had a few more words from the artists on the ship models and so, but stillVery Happy

I love this book so much, I ordered two copies; one for myself and another for my parents so that when people ask what I'm doing in Iceland, I can point at the book.

Mine didn't show up with the other stuff I ordered, despite it being listed on the shipping manifest as shipped in that box. :( Which saddens me, cause I was going to bring it to work, and try to make some new addicts.

Already emailed White Wolf's contact info about it.

How sad though, the price to ship this one book to the Czech Republic is higher then the item it self.

How about CCP making use of an office in Europe to send this stuff from and not just from the states? I have no issues with paying for shipping cost but $54,- is a little over the top.

Haven't looked on Amazon yet but I live in Atlanta.....anyplace where I just drive to to pick up a copy? Is there a Whitewolf store around here? Or do I have to order it and have it shipped?

See, this is what I like most about CCP.

It's employees, the Dev team, even the senior management all have a good sense of humor and a relaxed manner about them. So different from a lot of other big name development teams and and publishing companies (who will remain nameless).

I like that the players can hassle you guys a bit and everyone has a good time with it.

Amen. It's so refreshing compared to megacrapcorps like SOE etc who only have canned responses ALL the time regarding anything. This is one of the reasons why I don't mind giving CCP some extra isk (oops my bad, $$) for these kinds of things. They earned it for making the best game in existence IMHO.

Hell, I have 3 accounts.....I can't remember the last time I EVER paid more than once for a game or had more than one account rofl. CCP are ebil!

I found my copy at my local friendly gaming store so you might do so as well.
It's an official WW retailer, and since WW online store is selling them as well, I guess other retailers are a good guess.

That's probably a good idea, checking that and Amazon. Smile

I ordered my copy from Amazon.uk today and it was dispatched within a couple of hours at 8 postage (within EU). Looking forward to see it soon after all these marketing plants going on around here...Wink

Yes yes i know this one is a bit old but still valid so i saw no reason to make a new thread!!!

Was tempted to buy it but then i saw what WW tried to bill me for shipping.. lol... or rather.. kinda sad.. 33 bucks for shipping while the book itself costs 49 something? get real!

So was wondering if this thing would be for sale in europe somewhere? or just through Amazon?

Anyways i think it's pretty F**d up that u can't buy this stuff through the eve website, but even if i could, ccp seems to hate paypal or any other form cept CC Crying or Very sad

Hunter, we are in a transitional period with the EVE store and trying to work out a system whereby items will be shipped from both locations, Reykjavik and Atlanta. I know it isn't a help in getting the book right now, but it will be resolved in the future.
