Question....With the new patch and an interdictor bubble, lets say the ship jumps in and the bubble is up and he hasnt uncloaked. If he logs off what will happen? I havent seen anything on this since patch. Does he warp off? Or is his ship left there for me to ****? YARRRR!!

appears on overview, doesn't start warp, but disappears in 60s due to not having a pvp timer in that system.

I'm alittle slow today Laughing So what your saying is that if he indeed doesnt uncloak. He can log. But the ship will sit there for 60 seconds? Thats enough time...lol If you get aggro as soon as he decloaks he is stuck right?

You can only create PVP timer to someone who is actually online. Those who are already logged off, but don't don't have a aggro will just disappear in 60s, even if you shoot at them.

Then it just plain bull**** when a hostile jumps into you and all he does is log.

--------

The thing is, if ccp was to nerf this log off to avoid death tactic, those who actually crash and it does happen, they are the ones that get punished. And they will point their finger, blame ccp but really it was all those who abused the system in the first place.

If there was a way to detect a crash and a ctrl q then those who actually crash can be reimburse but then players will just pull their cable out of their modem to work around this.

So in short, if you do this, if you log to avoid death, you are the cancer of the game and donít deserve to be in our world. The problem is, there are a lot of you out there, spreading your disease to others, ruining the good cells of enjoying this game.

Thier is a way:P Its called a key logger. Also Invasion of privacy but who cares about that anymore.Though this would not fix just hitting the reset button.

I still can't believe people arn't entirely agaisnt this sort of thing, the 'but what if you really crash' excuse just doesn't cut it, in every single other MMORPG i've played there has been an exit timer, generally about 30 seconds and if you were in combat (or enemies were near) then you couldn't even do that...

Of course you could always hit the exit now button or yank your cable but if you did then you took the consequences...

So why is it that in all of these non hardcore mmo's could you lose out due to connection problems whereas in eve, god forbid that such a thing could happen, that just wouldn't fit the hardcore feel of eve, oh hang on...

How hard can it be, really?

I am talking about the very common issue here, random Battleship jumps into a 3 small ship gang... and logoffs, 1 min after logging he disappears.

Is it a intended

How long has it been an issue... 2-3 years? Maybe more?

Is it somehow difficult to balance it?

Is it difficult to code?

Is it a work-in-progress?

Is the whole EVE community against it?

Is CCP lacking manpower(eve cardgame... ambulation... evetv... Rolling Eyes) ?

Sorry, CCP, but... this is stupid and I can't see any reasonable excuse to this.

discuss.

There is no exuse

As far as I see it, it's working just fine and as intended, however since you bring it up the way you do:

Where's your suggestion on what CCP should do to fix it?
Maybe it slipped your mind, or maybe you're a little slow to realise that inorder for something to be "fixed" you need to find a solution first...so what is it smart guy? hm? You're the one boasting so highly and mightly that it's an easy fix...so what is it?? What is the fix for the logoffski problem? Please do share with the rest of us.

I read through all of YOUR posts, and not ONE of them says anything in the lines of: "Okay here's what needs to be done to fix this..", not even a SLIGHT variation of it.

I agree completely. I don't understand why logging off is a valid alternative to intelligence (both the covert type and the smartness type). Red in local, ctrl-q shouldn't be your response. Anyways, my attempt at a solution is:

Originally by: Captian Internet

What he said, except 5min for bubbles, 5 min for agressed by player, and 3 min for NPCing. Different type of timers are additive (eg, bubbled+gateactive = 8min), and any new action of that type on the target resets the specific timer. Also, fix the 15 min aggression logoff timer so that it actually persists between systems.

That'd require the person to fire back, which, to my knowledge, they can't when they're offline!
Wanna try again?
#451 you say? Wheres the #450 other ideas? Or did you just pull that number out your rear like you did with saying that finding a solution for this is easy?

I don't know if CCP has a solution or not, but YOU'RE the one saying it's easy to fix, and you STILL fail at providing that genuine grand fantastic all-saving, all problem-solving, glorious and brilliant fix.
In fact..so far you're just ranting without any constructive content.

I am just referring my idea as #251 because this topic has been discussed before, not because it is my 251st idea. Lots of (potentially) good ideas have been suggested, but CCP hasn't bothered to implement any of them, neither has there been any indication that the issue discussed here is intentional or is being worked on or anything like that.

By the way... Hi, troll, play the game...

you can cause a PVP timer if you shoot/EW/aggro a player, it doesn't require the opposite side to shoot back, e.g harmless haulers can still get a pvp timer. The issue I am complaining about is, that you can't put a pvp timer on ships with logged out pilots. This is certainly an issue when a random hostile jumps in, sees hostiles, and decides to logoff to avoid fighting. Sure, CCP fixed the logoff issue partially, like not initiating warp when bubbled, but they didn't fix the whole issue.

Have you ever PVPed, how did you not know that? How did you get into MC? Bought a char with GTCs?

(sorry, no disrespect, but my smack-o-meter ranking isn't that low)

Okay, granted I was wrong about the aggro timer, I confused it with that timer you get when you aggress and you cant dock and blah blah..stupid mistake on my part, sorry.

That, however, still doesn't change the fact that your "solution" isn't going to solve the issue, as even if you do it like that, it's going to cause more exploitation then it's going to fix. In my opinion anyway.
You see?
The idea is to come up with a solution that won't create a billion new problems. Sure that isn't always possible, but something like that, you're better off finding a better solution.

Which reminds me, I'm still waiting for those nifty 450 other ideas you had.

As for your bottom phrase..I'm not even going to dignify such massive amounts of pure brainless trolling with a response.

I agree that logging should not be an option to escape death in any situation. CCP should further penalize logging during combat and maybe even allow for post-log aggroing so people that log early don't disappear before they die.
Maybe also logging in 0.0 should always put you in open space for 15 mins no matter if you had aggro or not. Why should it be safe to log anyway? If you wanna be safe then dock up or sit/log in a POS FF.

I do not want to advertise a new technque. The people who use logging off have come up with soemthing new to avoid alpha strikes at gates. It is quite annoying and even porbing techniques are not fast enough to catch what they do.

Again I have to ask W T F is your problem that you feel obligated to try to do your own farming of people who do not want to pvp? there are thousands of people in eve ready willing and able to pvp but instead you are flying around all day trying to pick on sure win fights with people in pve ships? stop trying to fight people who do not want to fight....

PS if you think their endless bounties and faction loot are so great all you have to do is set up shop in said system and the farmers leave....it's not like they bully you out or can compete with you. If you want xxx system you take it and they leave...would be stupid for CCP to gut the game so tards like you can hunt NPC'ers instead of playing the damn game and fighting the people you should be...

CCP can fix log offs the day they stop allowing people to warp right on top of others and instantly lock, because the combat in eve is so screwy and unbalanced for anyone not actively attempting to pvp at every moment of play. Y'all know it and that is why you abuse the game mechanics to hunt people trying to do something besides pvp in eve.

I liked that responce :-) (above)

remember people who log off in combat may well be spoiling your game...

but the people who log off are having THEIR game spoiled by not allowing them to fly on... ofc if they attack you and log off different matter

But remember BOTH groups are slightly annoyed that they cannot play the game the way they WANT to.

(oddly remember those against log of tactics are annoyed because they cannot make someone else life unplesant.... norrmally something morraly unacepptable)

as for me? i have and will continue to log off on ocasion in fights... where i am out to pve and you are out to kill me in pvp... i will not however do so if i have come out to fight....

though i have never yet had logging off save a ship... fair few pods though..

Interesting...

You had a lot of comments in my thread about probing cloaked ships also.

Are you sure this is the right game for you? You do understand that other players interact with you right? You just want to be able to care bear wherever you want, whenever you want, regardless of what other players want to do to stop it...

While we're on this topic, what about the converse? Don't you just love how one or two people can be in a system, other ships engage, then another dozen Vent buddies magically appear in system thanks to insta log in, then warp and gank. Game mechanics go both ways. (

This is true also. I have not had the pleasure of a log in trap yet, but either one logging off or logging are both symptoms of some issues that I would like to think can be addressed in a fair and just way. The ideas I have bounced off corp mates unfortunately fail in one way or another to be impartial.

My last idea was a type of delay to logging back on in space, so that they are held long enough in space for a prober to find them but the people logging in are not in full fighting capability. This is an idea to stop a rapid loggin trap and denies the log off person to rapidly logging off and in to avoid an encounter because he can now be probed out if he tried to see what is happening but is ready to do a cntr-q... but even that fails to address everything.

LOL are you serious? Is your logic that flawed? I am fairly sure this is the RIGHT GAME for me since I am not posting whines to get the game changed to ensure pvp kills are handed to me on a silver platter....I am okay with eve I am not whining am I?

Tell me who is really the carebear here? Some of you want to be able to hunt and kill pve players.... why because they present no risk....seems obvious who the care bear is doesn;t it?

What most of you fail to understand is that eve has implemented some very hard to balance game mechanics like being able to not only scan people easily but then warp aka teleport directly onto them. after that you can permenantly snare and lock them down....and you are asking now that those people are just stuck 100% certain death because of those wacky game mechanics in eve? Traditionally in every pvp game you have to actually you know scout and find your enemy and then approach them, and everyone has similar travel speeds etc...to add insult they can then teleport an entire army onto you as well so the cowards don;t even have to fight you themselves( warp to gang command ), the final kick in the nutz about the guys who like to pick on pve players is that if you do start beating their arses they can just warp away as people in pve set ups won;t have a WCS equiped which is why these weenies specificaly spend their days trying to pvp with pve players. Anyrate not gonna waste much time explaining it safe to say anyone with common sense should be able to understand the flaw in EVE and why people have no choice but to stop playing when someone enters their system.....

So like I said the day CCP gives people proper tools and balances out the entire pvp vs pve setups it only seems fair that people out to pve have some sort of defense against weak carebear pvper's who think hunting down pve players it some raw form of hardcore pvp.

Here's an intellectual exercise.

One day, while you're out hunting ships, you spot a fat target. You attack it and just before you get the kill, it disappears! You petition CCP, which says "Yeah, I think that's a bug. We'll investigate it."

The next day, you're flying along in your ship, when suddenly BOOM! It blows up, everything's destroyed, and you wake up as a clone. You petition CCP again and they say "Yeah, we think it's a bug. We'll investigate it."

So the question is, which would **** you off more? Losing your prey, or losing your ship. For most people, losing their ship would hurt more than losing a target, so CCP will rather error on the side of caution than risk having someone's ship blown up without a reason.

That doesn't make any sense, nor is it very intellectual.

The problem is people logging while in gate cloak to avoid a gank. They messed up, they should be dead, but the ctrl-q allows them to circumvent the game and survive.

Coding games on the honor system obviously does not work

Gate activations must activate timers!

Another pvp carebear.

I think gatecamps are an exploit.

But guess what? They exist and will continue to exist. So what.

Play the game as it is and quit whining.

Once again I reiterate a carebear is some one who considers the act of getting aggressed despicable and comparable to ****.

Do you know why people fight at gates?

1.Because local does not traverse systems
2.Because people insist on not using scouts

You try to fight at a belt and you get a cloaker
You try to fight at a station and you get a docker
You fight at a gate you either hold them down or they outrun you but your odds are much better.

Of course then comes the actions of extremely excessive force which I frown upon but I'm not the one doing the camping Confused

The actions of the logoffski should not be protected by this "but what if I have a bad pc" honor system or it shall continue to be exploited over and over again.
