2 new tracks

Bye bye beautful

Amaranth

Eva

I like the new voice. Style seems to have changed slightly too. It's a little more vivid, less dark/heavy/goth.

isn't the new nightwish singer the one that sounds like a clone of the singer from evanescence? bleh, no originality, the old one was better, less stereotyped...

Kinda agreed about the voice/singer, but as the music and lyrics are written by Tuomas I believe their style is mostly still as solid as a rock.

The change doesn't surpass the normal variation that comes with a new album. It's still 100% Nightwish.

I am a big Nightwish fan (ever sense seeing a video of theirs on YouTube) and was kind of ****ed that the original singer was fired. Her voice was perfect for the music.

I have heard the new singer's voice on one of the new tracks "Eva" and she sounds good but I much prefer the other singer. More mature sounding and I loved the dark/goth/vampiric sound of her voice. With all that being said I will still listen them. At work so can't listen to these yet but will when I get home.

BTW, before I go home....are these heavy songs or are they wimpy? To me, Nightwish embodies the beauty of heavy metal submerged in goth/vampiric music.

They're heavy Bux, quite heavy still. The sound of Annette is more "regular", but then again the numbers are more up tempo so i think it fits, even though I'm myself a huge Tarja fan.

Have you btw ever heard the Within Temptation duet between Sharon and Tarja ?

She became a diva. Flying around South America in a private jet demanding more money over a satellite phone, or something like that. Actually I doubt the truth is anything as interesting, or public.

Can't say I'm liking the new singer, judging by this track.

The new singer Anette Olzon will have it very difficult to step out of Tarja Turunens shadow.

Oh and a message to one of the OP. Saying something is crap without giving any reasons why, is considered an epic fail.

One of the best Nightwish Songs: Sleeping Sun

Not sure anyone has to step out of anyones shadow.
Tarja was undoubtedly the big talent of the two, more unconventional.

However, she became too arrogant. That also has it's impact on the audience during liveshows. Next phase for Nightwish. It has changed, but it hasn't changed that much. The music on itself is still better (personally) than say Epica or Within Temptation.

Different usually takes some getting used to. I still am Tarja's biggest fan, but if you browse youtube and see that she sings "Smells like teen spirit" on a fashion show.... how about that for the gothic scene eh ? :)That's what I call crap and has nothing to do with voices. As a goth fan that's a huge letdown.

Sleeping Sun is one of my favourite songs of theirs too, I would rank it third. Very Happy

Their Phantom of the Opera cover owns me... Surprised but it is Stargazers that I love most.

Point about the boobs taken Wink She looks more naughty though... that look makes me melt.

Well... no shows in Belgium or the Netherlands it seems... Looking right now to buy tickets for the gig in Oberhausen, Germany (2,5hr drive, so not that far) on 29/12.

In case my brother doesn't come along... Any fellow pod pilots up for a trip Smile

I'm feeling sad now Sad her voice doesn't do anything for me, like someone else has said she sounds bog standard, I shall give it a chance, her voice may grow on me, I still prefer Tarja's voice.
