Last night, our small gang of 4 tech2 cruisers ran into a medium size blob in 0.0, 10 or so. The blob had a carrier, we've engaged them at range and killed a curse. Then the carrier gets on site and starts launching fighters at us. We start killing the fighters, he pulls them in. We warp to a safe. Send a bait ship, as expected fighters are all over him, he warps back to us. We scrable the fighters and kill 2 of them. At which point the carrier pilot notices it and pulls them back. Even though the fighters were scrambled and webbed they just vanished. How lame is that!!!! Fighters aren't magical! They can't just vanish Laughing

Scramming fighters has no effect, in the same way that scramming NPCs does nothing. You can web them however, just like normal drones.

"Waaaaaaah! We were exploting horrible fighter AI by dragging them into our gang, away from danger where we could kill them at leisure, and we forgot that fighters had safe-guards for this kind of crappy tactic! LAME!"

Buhu to you.

I loled IRL at the whole 4 ships = small gang, 10 ships = blob thing.

If they are in your gang, they are a squad. If they are in the other gang, they are a blob.

So how do you think it feels for carrier pilots eh? We cant tell our fighters to NOT follow.

When we can get fighters that listen to us, then we can have them warp scramable.

Yeah...except that if fighters can't be scrammed then it's working perfectly. And they can't be scrammed. Rolling Eyes

As stated before, drones are immune to some electronic warfare to my recollection. I know seeing that stinks but losing 20m a pop I'm sure made the pilot mad. :)

Actually, I really would like to see fighters affected by warp scrambling. Furthermore, I'd like to see them actually warp, rather than just teleporting about the place.

why? picture this. your fighters go to shoot a bait ship, which warps off. the fighters align and warp after this. you realize what's going on and recall them, so the moment they finish the warp, they align back towards you and try to come back. Your opponents need to get a scramble on them before they can align - which, considering the agility of these things, is not long at all.

Basically, player skill comes into play on both sides - if the carrier pilot's sufficiently on the ball, he can stop his fighters from pursuing if he wants to, and the same applies for the other side.

I love the way you think that drones actually listen to the carrier pilot. Most of them will happily do whatever they feel like :)

TBH fighters should only cost 2 mill each. They are ridiculously easy to counter / kill, and arent really that damaging.

If you want fighters to be able to be scramed, then you'd have to let the carrier pilot or other gang members warp to them.

How'd you like a Mom or Titan showing up in your safe spot? Wink

Why? Either treat them as drones or treat them as true gang members.

*removed red tags*

wow I can read it now. Anyhow.

They are drones... with a warp drive... that disappear, and reappear, someplace else.

Treating them as gang members would kinda be... meh. A ceptor with sensor boosters could lock a ship, and send fighters after it... then you can warp to that guy? reguardless of what SS he is at? I think not!

So, you want to get free fighter kills, with no risk to yourself of:
-more fighters
-the carrier/Mom
-the cap pilot's friends
showing up, or of the fighters running home?

Yeah, thats balanced. Rolling Eyes They cost $20mil, they're not Vespa 1s.

It's even worse when the fighters are assigned to shuttles on a gate.

Although I hear shuttles don't tank too well....

Hehe, good one! All I'm saying if a carrier pilot wants kills by sending his lame fighters chasing my inty across safe spots then he should also face some risk of losing them. Those things are pretty potent with proper skills and can kill cruisers pretty fast. No fair! :) I'll change my mind once I get my own carrier Wink

Yeah we already told him in another thread it ruins his credability. Sorta like how dumb people will be entranced by tin foil, he thinks red "looks pretty". Even if noone takes him seriously because of it.
