CCP: how about a settlement?

As no viable fix seems imminent, buy them off their owners at a figure close to their market value when it was revealed that they don't work.

Those of us who have these either ran a lot of lousy missions or paid a hefty sum to get one. If you can implement invention implants later in a balanced way, great, but for now cash us out.

Please.

Market value would be hard to determine, even though it's worth less now, the only thing I think they could do would be to give those LP and isk back that the original player paid. Mind you if that's too hard at least some isk payout would be desirable. Since this implant is seemingly never going to do anything.

I won a sizable bet recently that CCP wouldn't do a bloody thing about these implants prior to the first anniversary of their introduction.

Way to go CCP! I can't wait until 2010 when you finally release the Orca, or finally get around to buffing Industrialists again. I have another substantial sum riding on your continued apathy, so please, make me proud!

C'mon CCP, give us a buyout option. You've made it clear you're not likely to make the draftsman a buff to invention odds. This is how the implant was initially billed, and I think (no matter the ultimate decision about what to do with this) we should be reimbursed on account of false advertising.

This implant was selling for upwards of 500m shortly before it was revealed that it does nothing. Certainly those that bought it off the market are in the worst position, but those of us that built corp standings from the ground up with an RD group like Duvolle know the pain of the grind that's all for nought.

Seriously, while you keep monkeying about with the draftsman's role (if you're even bothering anymore) we're all losing opportunity costs on the isk or hours we threw into this ill-conceived bit of DB debris.

How many of these can there really be in-game? Invite us to request a return via petition. Delete the item; credit our accounts. Easy, no? A hell of a lot easier than waiting another year to find out that the draftsman gi-2 will provide a buff to invention time or something else worthless that no one would have spent time or large sums chasing after in the first place.

Again: suck it up, pay us for our trouble, and acknowledge a screw-up and some unfulfilled promises--next static patch, what?--that are now over a year old.

I had written a very thorough post to explain how the situation is unacceptable to the industry community but I won't bother.

The timeframe in which no actions were taken to fix this problem is unacceptable.

Yes we got the Jump Freighter (which isn't useful only for Industrialists, PvPers also take advantage of it) and the Rorqual, a very specialized ship used by I'd say less than 500 pilots at the moment.

Since RMR we have gotten absolutely nothing new since the Hulks meant only for us carebears and useful for everybody. Invention has pleased PvPers MUCH MORE than the industry community.

If you are not working on new content, then what excuse could you possibly have for not having a fix for this implant over a year later? This isn't the first time CCP fails at introducing Industrial items. The michi implants was broken as long if not longer than the draftman, and the foreman links were also broken for months before they were finally changed except the laser optimization one.

Again, I say this: it is unacceptable.

I don't know what you are doing out there Chronotis, but if you have some staff that reports to you, they don't deserve much praise at the moment. This is very disappointing indeed.

Well everyone does complain that eve needs some serious isk sinks, maybe people should be encouraged to buy these before they are removed.

Infact, why not get 3 each.

Primarily because they removed them from the market / and their ability to be contracted. You 'can't' get more of them, that's their solution to the problem so far, leave the people with them as the only ones affected and ignore it.

No solution this far suggests no obvious end in sight.

Whatever 'fix' you devise, CCP, will not give GI-2 owners what they worked hard or paid large sums for.

Therefore, the only reasonable outcome (from a player perspective) is to have the option to sell or exchange these implants.

Set up a few NPC orders, and let the draftsman invention line pass gracefully into true obsolescence--not this painful limbo its suffered for the past year.

Bom!

They are working as intended. They were never meant to allow copy usage. (And you'll note they never even said they would 'fix' them because they never 'worked' in the first place). - No, a procedure that requires a GM to intervene because you're doing something they didn't intend isn't 'working'.

IMO they need to sort that out as part of a complete overhaul of POS and hangar permissions etc. The system is just too inflexible for what people need to do with it. No one needed to control POS guns, or use other peoples hangars when corp roles were first introduced.

This has to be a record for the longest time after they said it would be fixed that something hasn't been. I mean, seriously, just give everyone the LP + isk back (even though many of us paid more in isk for the implants) or free gametime and be done with it. If you're going to fix something, 3 months should be the limit. After that write it off and move on.

Actually I have pretty clear memory of some dev stating that they will fix it soon and disabling it is temporary solution. Bcos of that I moved temporary into alt corp 'until it's fixsed'. As you can see I have given up hope recently and moved back to my main corp. Unfortunately I don't have a link at hand to back my statement up.

It might be also ofc my misunderstadning the statement (would not be the first one, like that feature of switching ammo in all guns at once that was kinda hinted like it's coming and later got scrapped behind the scenes for database performance issues, I even sold my navy launchers and downgraded to T2 expecting that to make in in next patch).

Overall if something is done about it then indeed it's unlikely that it will happen before full pos overhaul. Not holding my breath on that tho as as far as I understand next major patch will be ambulation. So there will be a year to next major patch where it might make in. Unless they ofc do not count ambulation as major patch (they have separate team for that afterall, right) in what case perhaps pos'es and industry in general might get some love in winter patch.

Chimera model and fitting pains was sitting around for a year and a half or so before they finally made it bigger than a rokh and gave it enough CPU to fit a capital shield transporter + a tank.

That being said, this is a bit of a ridiculous timeframe for a simple implant fix.

I think that longest known issue of bonuses on gadget not working has been with POS silos where the final fix was done after 2 years of bughunting. Altho I must admit that first attempts to fix that issue were done in a bit shorter timeframe.

Who knows. Perhaps this one will set a new record :)

Overall CCP is doing pretty good job in my opinion, regardless of some issues taking longer than anticipated.
