Edited by: Hammes on 25/07/2007 19:57:47I also have this odd "status unknown"-issue: I patched manually 35183, rebooted and cleared my cache after a futile try to run EVE, but still no change. I changed neither my system nor the EVE-Client, except the two patches and my internet connection is working fine too... Nevertheless: CCP is doing a great job! |

Edited by: ko''jalah on 25/07/2007 20:55:09 So... today at about 23:40 (GMT+2)I had a de-sync within eve (being surrounded by 6-7 enemies)... since then it does not login anymore i get: " Connection Timeout - The server did not respond to the client's secure-handshake request within a reasonable amount of time:. The server status is ok but just cannot login. What happens with my ship and character during this period? |

This time i lost a half can a my retriver is still in space without drones out...I'm not sure i will wait long hours this day to see what i have lost.
Can CCP ,please, get back all ships to nearest station directly on server reboot or mission start...please. Or buy me a new retriever :-(
Is it the UK water this time ?

Edited by: Oupla on 25/07/2007 21:04:20Indeed great job CCP. Cannot log and a skill end in 20 minutes. Next time ask people to set long skill 1 month after the patch and not only during the patch |

Or in other words you have no problem with CCP's development and QA methods. If you did you would have left a while ago.
To the masses:
No software package is bug free. None. There never will be until we have a completely different coding methodology. The current technology makes it impossible to have bug free software. If you don't like this and CCP is soo bad then please cancel. Put your money where your mouth is. It's right there on the left. Go click it. No? Didn't think so. At least please stop spamming useless whine posts.
I did leave - 4 months ago in fact. If I couldn't play this game for free I wouldn't be playing it at all with either of my accounts. <3 GTC and all that. fwiw, I know there will always be bugs. Bugs are acceptable as long as they are handled in a systematic fashion to get them fixed. Systematic doesn't mean "emergency patch that patch that patched the last emergency patch." Systematic means go through and thoroughly test the code before you deploy it. I mean, all it took to expose this memory leak was to, uh, fly around. You didn't even need to kill stuff. Did the QA team just... not fly around in testing or something? |

OK, so by now I hope someone at CCP is aware of this problem...would it be TOO much to ask that you change the MOTD on login to reflect this? Something like "There is a problem, we are working on it" instead of the irritating "patch deployed" message? BTW...people are only seeing "server status OK" because the client is caching the damn result! Switch to a test server and back again, and all of sudden server is NOT ok... |

Would it be possible to have on one of the beta servers a free univerze frig area where we could wait playing PvP during unregular downtime :-)

The server is unstable but does not reboot. I hope there is some at CCP to push the button. REBOOT Come on, you know how to do that! |

I got the timeout thing a few times afte logging due to severe lag/desync. Then I got Connection to server was closed. Now I'm getting: Quote: Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
I have an internet connection (obviously) and the other two problems would be at CCP's end. |

there's no reason they can't simulate 20,000 user load. I mean, its not like couldn't macro it. I use several tools (web application stress tool for instance) for simulating load on our web applications - 5 simultaneous up to 500,000 simultaneous to see where the pain points are at the different load levels. There's significant differences in complexity between a web application and a game with the depth and breadth of Eve, I know. This is why there are testing tools that _simulate_ people doing stuff - macro ratters/miners/mission runners have that stuff down pat and use it with the full client. Say, they simulate 15,000 people jumping around, 2500 people mining, 1000 missions of different types, 1000 market traders, 500 pvpers for instance? Then have the 5 people that are ACTUAL people jump in and do stuff while its under this simulated load? Maybe it would help prevent this "patch the emergency patch that patched the previous emergency patch which patched the first patch after the expansion deployment" crap. |
