I recently discovered that ANOTER skillbook was stolen from me by CCP, first it was salvage drone operation and now they have taken starbase tactical officer away.

This skill was useless until it was removed from the market, and the description was replaced with “Skill at using starbase weapon systems. Allows control of one array per level. Arrays must be placed outside of the forcefield to be controlled.”

The same as starbase defense management however it had much lower skill requirements.

I would like to know if there are any other skillbooks that CCP plans on stealing so I can sell them before they are taken.

EDIT and the point of this topic came through.

Originally by: CCP Hammer
The GM you spoke with was mistaken. That skill book wasn't removed. It was renamed from Infrastructure Tactical Officer to Starbase Defense Management because the name sounded more like a role than a skill. The logs show that I changed it on May 10th. I'm sorry the requirements changed but we reserve the right to balance the game, especially skills that aren't in use yet.

Other skills that aren't in use such as black market trading and salvage drone operation were hidden from the character sheet but we've received enough petitions that we're going to reveal them again even though they don't do anything. They were originally hidden because we were getting petitions that they don't do anything.

o.O...still looking for the point of this thread, anyone seen it?

The point is that GM's dotn know what is going on in there own game.

Any chance that a system could be put in place to help GMs look up a knowledge base of facts before telling a player something that could be wrong? It'd solve a good number of problems with GMs giving incorrect information as players should be able to assume that what a GM tells them is correct.

what a GM says should be correct, and it should be the same answer no matter what GM you ask.

we shouldnt have to post a whine thread to get a DEV response to an issue that a GM should know about. (currently *****ing and whining on the forum is the only way to get a DEV to tell you what is really going on as the GM's dont know and the patch notes are incorrect)

These were all converted to the new active skill not stolen, at least not from the reseller I know.

no, Starbase defense was added in, while i still had my starbase tactical officer.

if the skill had replaced the other then the patch notes would have said "skill beign switched to.."

instead of "skill being added..."

Starbase tactical wasent mentioned in any of the patch notes.

Fine, don't believe me....

Static data from ~8 months ago (machonet version 139)
typeID:3373, groupID:266, typeName:Starbase Tactical Officer

Static data from today (machonet version 173)

Still you are missing the point...

the fact isnt that it was changed, the fact is that CCP keeps doing this to the players without telling them.

and another thing, a GM disagrees with you, specificaly.

i cant put the words in here because it would be EULA violation.

but i will tell you this, the skillbook was REMOVED for operational reasons and that book (starbase tactical officer) had no function in the game.

now, your comments have further helped to prove the point.

CCP dosent know what they are doing, and they dont care about how they treat there customers.

now, if you can point out in the patch notes where either they state:
1. they were removing Starbase tactical officer or
2. they say they are changing it to starbase defense managemnt

jsut because somethign has the same id dosent mean it is the same thing. when something is removed it is a blank spot in the database. and do you know what happens to blank spots? they get filled!!

just becuase the ID is the same dosent make it the same thing.

and as you can see by the database issues, they need all the help they can get with ID's being reused as they keep filling there colums up in the DB

last night i had a hell of a time trying to decode which skillbooks to buy with the database all messed up. i saw the price of a gallente cruiser skill book was 450M and the battleship was 36,000. hehe, but when you go to the market details, you could see the correct name. you could be buying anything under any name last night.

no, im getting worked up about CCP doing stealth updates and stealing from there players.

i personally didnt loose any money, however i did see several of the skillbooks going for sale for the same reason i held onto mine, to controll 5 more starbase structures, some of them were on sale for as much as 400 mil.

the issue here isnt the skillbook, the issue here is CCP

imagine if you were one of the ones who paid 100+ mil for a skillbook that was suposed to stay and then getting it replaced by a 200k skillbook that was suposed to be added in instead of replacing another.

Damn, that sucks. I'm glad I didn't go to all the trouble to get salvage drone operation now. Skill collectors everywhere shake your fist at CCP!

BTW I played a game the Halo 3 Beta with you. Your gamertag is ThanatosandNyx. Very Happy

I have 3 salvage drone operation skillbooks, if yours was removed, then you should petition to get them back.

You could also just buy it from me for a moderate price

no, they were removed, but the playerbase got ****ed they removed the skillbook (because they announced it) and they were given back about a week after they were removed.

What i dont understand is why does it matter if they tell you or not.

They changed it, why whine about it?

Because thats all youre really doing here.

because i dont want to have something important removed without warning.
the item itself dosent matter, it is simply an example, the meathods CCP is using more and more is what bothers me. if you choose not to worry about it thats your choice.

So whats the problem, because at this point, they have not been removed ( because I have 3 of them ). You can't complain about something that isn't the case.

Just take your Starbase Defense Management skillbook.

And then, every time when you look at it, in your head, Pretend that it's your Starbase Tactical Officer skillbook.

Problem solved.
