Hi Guys

The other night I lost my dread to a gang of Veto Corp. Now dont get me wrong I dont care about losing the ship and this post is not a flame against pirates either. I actually realy enjoyed the conflict up until I lost my connection and could not get back in game till the next day to find me in my clone. I am SURE they enjoyed blowing up a dread he he Anyway I ramble :)

Up until I lost my connection I was maintaining 90% cap and easily 90% shields BUT I could not hit these guys for toffee and I was wondering if money was not an object (it isnt) how would you setup a phoenix to be able to fair better in that situation again? i was jammed and coulnd not jump out by the way. As I say I love the thrill of it (being vastly outnumbered) and I dont care if I lose ships as long as im having fun in game so i want to do this again :) But take some of them with me next time.

So anyway I was thinking something like this below to enable me to warp and web so as to at least be able to hit something with my cits. I can manage 300000 shields by the way and just under 100000 cap.

HIGHS x 4 slots
3 x Citadel launchers
1 x Dual 1000mm Railgun

MEDS x 7 slots
1x Target painter
1x F90
1x Warp jammer
1x Webber
1x Cap booster 800
1x Invul Field

LOWS x 5 slots
1x Capitol Armour repairer
1x Ballistic control system
1x Damage Control
2x Power diagnostic unit

RIGS
3x CCC 11

As I said money is no object and I have loads of officer stuff lying around so give it your dream setup :) The setup I deem to be best will get a prize in game :) A nice one.

Dude wheres your siege module?

That would be a start. I'm not gonna lie to you, your setup is horrible. Maybe take a look in the stickies see if you can pick up some setup hints, then try again?

If you "Couldn't hit them for toffee" then look into Target Painters. They make missiles hit smaller ships for higher damage. But don't be deceived, you will need still 2-3 to be effective with Capital weapons.

Well i'd hope after 4 years of playing you'd know

- split tanks are bad
- split weapons are bad
- Using not-even-best named T1 gear is bad
- cap boosters on capitals are bad
- webs on 55m/s capitals are bad
- posting about your shocking ******edness on the forums wasn't going to help

But apparently you've learned nothing, or you've just hit your 11th birthday and your house is full of diesel fumes or something. Your setup irritates me that much.

Here's a plan: contract all your stuff & isk to me, then delete your character and uninstall Eve. You obviously eBayed this account and it makes me sick to the back teeth.

Do you know the 2 week old newbies who fit stuff like shield booster + repper or a plate for PvE tanking or 1-2 shield hardeners plus 1-2 armor hardeners?

I never thought i'd see one beeing able to fly a dread. ^^
WTF -_-

Fitting a dread without siege mode but webbers and scramblers instead is just SOOOO... pardon me, but ... NOOBISH, i can't even tell how much.

But funny thread, granted. Go ahead. Maybe we can make up a little pheonix 1on1 somewhere in low sec ;) I'd be happy to

Well I was hoping for something interesting, something usefull. Alas I hoped in vain.

Marquis has someone upset you lately? Like a LOT. No I didnt buy this account on ebay. No I dont fly that setup it was just a SILLY opening gambit. No I wasnt using that setup the other night either. What's wrong with you guys being so unhelpfull and unfriendly all of a sudden? It's a game mate not real. It makes you sick that people buy accounts on ebay? Why on earth would it do that! I couldnt care less what peeps do in this game because it's not real. It occupys the smallest amount of my life.

Anyway sadly this has turned into a flame and I never get involved in them. All I wanted were some interesting idea to try out nothing more.

Laters.

Assuming you wont use siege-mode, that will be a very easy tank to break. The Invul-field is wasted. Also, is there any possible way you could get a friend to come and help? A single frigate can make a difference.

Also, I don't believe BCUs affect capital capital weapons.

If you have to solo, how about -

High:
3x Citadel Launchers
1x Siege Mod - no point in using a dread without this. A BS is better otherwise

Med:
-Officer cap recharger
-Sensor booster II +
-Officer Web
-Officer Web
-24km+ warp disruptor
-Target Painter II
-Target Painter II

Low:
Capital Armor rep
2x Faction/Officer EANM
2x Officer cap power relays (must be 31%+ recharge)

Rigs:
3x CCC II

Drones:
5x Hammerhead II
5x Valkyrie II
10x Warrior II

You'll be rather susceptible to NOS, but with all of the cap reserve you'll have, it will take them a while to kill you. Dual web + dual TP will allow you to lay some serious ownage down on any BS. Drones will kill frigates that stray too near. Also, it might even be smart to fit an officer smartbomb.

Meaning no disrespect, but your confusing honesty with flameing. What would you like me to say? Your setup was good?

Dunno why I should bother but here you are nonetheless:

Citadel Torpedo Launcher I x3
Siege Module I

Capital Shield Booster I
Dread Guristas Shield Boost Amplifier
Dread Guristas Heat Dissipation Field
Dread Guristas Ballistic Deflection Field
Dread Guristas Photon Scattering Field
Dread Guristas Invulnerability Field
Cap Recharger II

Damage Control II
Dark Blood Power Diagnostic System x4

Rigs : Semiconductor Memory Cell I x3

273488 shield, 54.19/s, E/T/K/Ex=71/77/83/77
103638 cap, +160.23/s, -441.135/s

Nothing very expensive on there, good resists and a lot of cap to burn through.

There goes your credibility.

And OP, i'm p*ssed off because expensive ships like that, that the owner should have worked hard to acquire and skill for, is wasted on people like you with fittings that I grew out of about 8 hours after I started playing Eve. You've apparently been playing four years and you look like you fitted with the loot you found in a Lvl2 mission.

And don't give me that 'I didn't actually fit what's in the OP, it was a joke sh*te', that's exactly what you fitted. Either that, or you came for help with a fitting you never intended to fly with, which in some ways is worse.

HIGHS x 4 slots

MEDS x 7 slots

1x F90
1x officer Warp jammer (30km minimum 40km best)
1x officer webber

1x dread gurista / officer Invul Field

LOWS x 5 slots

1x Ballistic control system

enter siege mode. im guessing 2 webs will be more effective than 1 web 1 painter

in siege mode you should be able to 1/2 shot bs if webbed

I realized right after I posted that I said that. Embarassed

Anyway, the rest of my fit isn't too bad, if you want to solo in a dread, which is itself a bad idea.

Thanks Cronus

I was using a simliar setup to that but as I say was having difficulty hitting anything with my cits and in siege it takes ages to lock anything if your lock gets broken. (Yes I had a siege in high) What do you think of dropping some hardners and opting for maybe a painter (or two) and a Sensor Booster? Ok less resists but more chnace of doing better damage.

ok pre-emptive snip of my trolling setup

You won't lose lock if you're in siege due to e-war as it makes you ewar immune, they might warp out on you but hey atleast they leave.

Learn the mechanics of your ship before you fly it or else you'll just be another post in a comedy killmail thread where everyone posts killmails with hilariously bad setups.

I Lol'd so hard i almost dropped my ice cream.Laughing

To the OP, its usually best to shield tank a ship which gets bonuses for shield tanking.

To Veto: Thank you for your services to eve in removing such a god awful setup from existence.

I know :) I was just wondering if we could with a little tweaking make it better than a bad idea and move it up to a not too bad idea :) Or even on a good day and almost dooable idea!

I don't suppose you can fly the Gallente dread? I've seen people solo in it... but it can actually hit stuff. (drones)

The Caldari dread can be dreadfully awesome, if you have the support of 1 or 2 Vigils with target painters and webs, but it doesn't solo so well.

our corp recently fought a moros in t2 command ships and we took heavy losses. i think a blaster moros properly fitted is best for solo dread (not that you should solo but if you have to...).

Siege module does NOT make you Ewar immune mate!

the siege module, remote effects like warp scrambling et al. will not affect the ship while in siege mode.

This also means that friendly remote effects will not work while in siege mode either. In addition, the lack of power to locomotion systems means that neither standard propulsion nor warp travel are available to the ship nor are you allowed to dock until out of siege mode.

So yes they cant warp jam you but you also cant warp anyway or jump indeed. Says nothing about being immune to Ewar jamming mind you!
