I have a nice Dominix I use it for two things. Mainly I use it to do missions in, however being a tank I have several different set-ups depending on what I'm fighting. When I'm not doing missions I mine, Dominix is an awesome miner, especially as I haven't got the other skills sets to be a 'real' miner. Wink

So from that I have five or six different module load outs, basically my suggestion is an add-on to the fitting screen that would allow you to save each load out. Then change to that load out easily.

It wouldn't be instantaneous, as now the strip modules stage would take time as would the time normally spent dragging and dropping each module into a slot. But it would mean you didn't have to search through all your loot to find each item.

Perhaps tie this into a Fitting Skill that would allow you to save more load-outs per ship per level. Though personally I'd just like to be able to link it into an offline fitting simulator, so I can try different options at work or in down time. (Yes I know there is one but for reasons that escape me now it doesn't actually work on my PC at home.)

I looked and didn't see.

I had posted a similar thread with multiple ideas including this one some weeks ago, but had zero response.

I used the search engine but only found some posts, and because the search engine is a waste of time most of those are years old.

I read the stickies.

Orginal Ideas thread by my main! Note no replies and multiple ideas. It was also on the 11th of January i.e. more than two weeks ago. Perhaps I should have mentioned that in the above post.

Now care to tell me where all these other threads are that I missed, or at the very least come up with a reason as to why my idea is bad/wrong.

Or perhaps read the stickies yourself!

I like this idea. There could be some kind of fast fitters, where you could place the modules for a ship, and use them to fast equip the ship, interchanging the equiped modules with the ones in the fitter.

It could work like a container, with a set number of slots in three sets: high, medium, low. You can close or open these slots, and place modules in the open ones. When using the fast-fitter it'd exchange what was its open slots with the things in the same positions in the ship.

This way you could have something like:
[X X E E E K K X]
(E = explosive armor hardener, K = kinetic, T = thermal, M = EM, X = closed slot)
for some pirates and
[X X E E E T T X]
for some others, while keeping the rest of the things (like the armor repairers I like to have in ctrl+f1 and ctrl+f2 places).

The drawback about using these modules is clear. If you want to use the same module in more than one fitting, but not in all, you either have to change it manually or have more than one module, one in each fast-fitter.

(ok, it's not exactly the same idea as yours, but it's similar and with the same final result)

Have fun.

Yeah, I have trouble finding things with the search feature, too, even when I'm using direct excepts from posts or the thread title that I remember. Don't feel bad.

Also, you're not supposed to bump old threads just to get them back to the top for further discussion, apparently, so you did the right thing by starting this thread, even though it was doomed.

The idea's come up again and again. I love it, nobody really speaks against it, but it's like the "MotD in Corp Chat" idea, or the "Get info from Transactions Tab" idea: Everybody wants it put in, but CCP doesn't seem to care.

I've not read this post I only came here to troll (why is it called troll by the way?:-p).

Why not just keep your own thread for your thoughts/ideas - its like a friendly distribution list that way. Noone is forced to read them, but you may get some loyal and good readers who want to hear more from you...

You could become even respected and (in)famous for your own thread...or maybe just plain ignored (like me <sobs like a man with his lad caught in his fly>).

A "save fit" option would definitely be nice. I wouldn't even mind a 30 second timer on it, even organized I find it annoying to wade through stuff and manually throw it on the ship.

So dig up or create threads for them and then get them added to the commonly suggested ideas thread.

I've already done this one.

I think it's called trolling because when fishermen leave their line in the wake of their boats, going slowly, it's called trolling... So you troll the forums 'till the 'fish' bite ;)
Or maybe it has something to do with the big blue beast slaying toons of that Other game ;)

So here's my reply to another of those 'saved-ship-loadout' threads:
poor man sobs like his... ya know the rest...

Makes you wonder if CCP is even thinking of implementing this, or if they are even aware that wasting an 'effin 10 minutes in hangar trying to *find* the damned modules is not exactly my idea of great game time...

tbh, I've somewhat given up on this game. Right-clicking FTL!!!! Why click once when you can click a trillion times to do the same thing! \o/

Sounds like a job for the insurance panel. Just like in real life I have know idea how the figures in Insurance work but i'm sure you could have your current ship and whatever is equipped to it given a value to resupply it when destoyed at the station the contract was bought at. You'll prolly lose the ammo - big whoop.

Oh yeah - limit the number of setups (i think that two to three basic setups would be enough, like PvE, PvP, Mining), and let us change our clothes in a few seconds. Could fit that into a drop menu where former strip fiting button would be (and now a menu option).

I don't play that much. Mainly high sec mission running. I would love to see this implemented. As is.

I have all my ammo in a container in my hangar. Trying to keep it organized so I can find things when I need to swap gear.

1. Open cargo which is where my ammo is
2-9. Drag and drop ammo from each gun and missle rack to cargo
10. Select all in cargo
11. Open hangar
12. Open ammo container
13. Drag ammo to ammo container
14. Stack all
15. Drag and drop new ammo to cargo
16. Drag and drop new missles to cargo
17-24 Drag and drop ammo to turrets and missles to launchers
25. Close ammo container
26. Close cargo hold
27. Open gear container
28. Drag and drop resist mod to container
29 Drag and drop second resist mod to container
30. Drag and drop or fit new resist mod to ship
31. Drag and drop or fit new resist mod to ship
then possibly
32-36ish Depending on the mission swap out another mod or 2

Go complete mission against mercs. Come back and get new mission against Guristas. Go through 1-32 AGAIN. do mission. mission against Angels do 1-32 AGAIN. rinse and repeat.

Cumbersome and awkward interface to use.ugh

I think my old threads about this bit the dust quite quickly
You know, there is this feature in Guild Wars, you have the options to save, load, manage and Template Code, which lets you paste the full fitting in chat, would be very useful, especially in help channel.

Oh, and another thing, how about an AMMO BAY ? Like, you can designate how much of your cargo space should be for ammo (an absolute value), then when you quick-change setups your ammo bay will fill with whatever quantity of any ammo types you set it to use, as well as your weapons.

As it is now, it takes ages to refit/reload. Please implement thisExclamation

Erm, strange that its not mentioned here.. or is this method only used by me? Its basically a workaround... I too would love to have a save/load fitting, and with associated skills if CCP see fit, but for now I'd suggest containers?

I get the station containers that NPC Spawn daily for 19k, (under 'Deployable Equipment' in the market last I checked). I use them to organise corp hangers and in my own hanger to organise ship loadouts...

Way to use: Buy Container 1, assemble container, dump Ships Ratting fittings (for example) in station can and name it accordingly. Buy Container 2, assemble and dump Ships Mining fittings in station can, named accordingly... so on and so fourth until you have a can for each fitting you want for whatever ship(s).

When it comes to swapping fittings its hugely quicker (I speaked proper England), open fittings screen, unfit all, move all unfitted modules fom items hanger to relevant can. Next open the can containing the new fittings you intend to use, ctrl+a (select all), right click and 'fit to active ship'. C'est voila.

Sorry if this is teaching everyone to sucks eggs, or worse provides no help to anyone. But hopefully there's at least one person out there that benefits from this.

Regards.

I use medium cans for specific ship kits - makes them easy to transport. Giant cans for groupings of good loot. One freighter can for ammo and crap loot.

The one time I used station cans it took me about two months to work out how to repackage them afterwards.

A downside to relying on medium cans for fits is if I quickly use and lose a kit I have trouble remembering exactly what each module was. If the killmail would list more details, that would help.

Another similar useful feature would be ability to have multiple "quickbars" on the market for different fittings, so you can quickly check prices.

Very useful and probably not hard to do in eve. Spend less time fitting, more time playing!

Would love to see this. The UI is kinda awkward in places... and this is one of the worst.

Thanks for the tips on using containers tho... good idea. That will make it a little better.
