For some reason I tend to actually laugh out loud whenever someone logs off, maybe it just a short chuckle... I dont know what comes over me... just find it funny people actually do that. Laughing

Sorry about being a noob..

For what i understand Logoffski is logging off while in a pod so you dont get cloned and it works becouse you automaticlly jump to a ramdom location no matter what ?

Is this a new feature or an old one ?

Thanks

Logoffski is logging off to avoid death of ship or pod in combat. Usually done when cloaked at a gate or as the attackers come out of warp. Logging off before you are agressed, or only in a bubble (i.e. not scrambled yet) will make your ship warp off and disappear, or if scrambled after logging, just disappear after 60 seconds.

This is an old "feature", but it's use has spread like a wildfire.

Thanks for the answer.

I play(ed) a lot of mmorpgs and it is simply LAME if you can run off a fight simply but turning the power off, all games I know have a time mechanism to stop that... please put it on EVE the idea of the pod being not affected by the PVP timer is very bad, I always though this was THE toughest game to play but with this news and the "warp to 0" stuff I think this is pushing the game in the oppossite direction and this line of action will make EVE just another game where dying is of no consequence... sad very sad indeed.

Thanks

So who is worse here?
The guy who is with a gang of 20 at a gate camp attempting to gank one lonely ship. OR

The one lonely ship thats passing through and finds himself ganked by 20 and desides to log off before he also looses his pod also?

I say both.

A) Worse than what (if they're both it)?
B) The guy logging off by a mile

Log off is making pvp combat stupid. Nobody cares throwing their ship at others because when then come to structure, log off.
What to loot ? Nothing. Who won ? Nobody. Who enjoyed the combat ?

"Ok, fair enough. Apparently this goes deeper than the game itself. The two of us enjoy two completely different playstyles. I like the fact that I don't get everything at once. I don't use cheats in single-player games because that would spoil the experience for me. To me this is no different.

You apparently want to have everything at once, and feel you are obligated to it by paying your monthly fee. You are playing EVE in single-player mode with cheats on. I think you need to reconsider what kind of game you would really enjoy playing. I get the feeling that an MMO isn't for you. Perhaps get your pals together on team-speak and enjoy an evening of Civilization IV? That's a great single-player game, but don't play online, cause then you'd probably have to invade another players territory, or get invaded yourself.

It's pretty simple really. Play a single-player game if that's the experience you want. You arguing for single-player cheats in an MMO could ruin the experience for those of us that want to play an MMO.

/Ki"

A) I never said I want everything at once. What I said was if someone does I see no problem with it since this is just a game, ment for entertainment and each to thier own for what ever that means. If some kinda wants to perch on a rock shooting a bow where a monster cant reach him to kill him, so be it.... etc.... If some guys wants to order up 5 battles ships good for him I see no problem with this since I am gonna have to fight people in battleships, provided if i choose to I can order them up also.

b) It seems really simple, maybe YOU should play a single player game. You fell you have the right to dictate how other people are allowed to play, and honestly that is none of your buisness and you trying to dictate how others can play will ruin the experience for them. I think A nice long night of railroad tycoon would be enjoyable for you, you can play by yourself and not have to worry about other people not playing the way you decided is correct.

Again a gentle reminder this is simply a game and you seem to have lost sight of it. You want grandious accomplishments so you can fool yourself into thinking it matters or people really care or think your uber...you can be flying a titan tomorrow and singlehandedly pwn BOB in 1 night guess what tomorrow your still the same old plain jane you were today to everyone sane.

"Show some backbone, people. Give us a FIGHT for crying out loud."

HAHAHAHAHA! Okay this is the origin of the problem and most of you are so oblivious to how lame you play you don't get it.

You don't want a dam fight and you know it. You want an easy cheesy gank, where you can safely know your ship isnt at risk of being blown up neither is your pod. That is the farking facts. Look people might give it a go and fight if they had a reasonable chance to actually fight back, but noooooo you goto gank 5-6 on 1 pve ship and then you have the stupidity to suggest the guy who logoffski's should get a backbone? sorry it is YOU sir pvp carebear that needs the backbone. It is YOU who needs to give your oppenent a fight.

Grow a pair and look for situations you might be the one getting podded and you will find that the amount of logoffski's drastically dissapear...

this is a weak and wrong argument
we all play by the rules of the game fair or not
it is the people that evade the rules by logging off that are inflicting their own set of rules on people who are just playing the game and in doing so are ruining the game experience for the honest players
a post was made earlier about griefers being griefed but camping a gate with a bubble is not greifing its just the way the game is and tbh if somebody logs to cheat their way out of a bubble i have set up,even if they only get the pod out, then they are greifing me and possibly harrasing me aswell
and sinse i payed my monthly sub i cant help but feel in some small way that im being stolen from

Wait a sec logoffski according to anyone who matters AKA ccp is not deemed an exploit so where do you get off suggesting it is a rule of the game? The you go on to suggest we play by the rule sof the game fair or not? Sorry not falling into part of the borg. I am an independant thinker there is much more to fair than just following the constraints of the rules set by CCP. Fair is far to subjective in a agame where people can beat on you 20 vs 1, trade timecards for in game cash, exploit poorly designed game mechanics to steal from players AKA empire suiciding etc... the list goes on.

Lastly people that camp gates in gangs of 2+ ruin the game for me and any other solo player traveling around I am also an honest player but their tactic is okay because you you say so? Na don;t think so charlie. Until somehting is claimed illegal by CCP it is legal like it or not period.

Like I pointed out to the guy wanting a so called fight, grow a pair if you really want a fight, reality is we know you don;t want a fight which is why you huddle in the safety of a big gang ganking solo players.

Increase of people logging when a hostile hops in local now too with the beefed local intel. It's now possible to probe down their logoff point before the ship disapears, but it's not possible to destroy the ship before it disapears.

Would like to see general (ie non-combat) logoff mechanics looked into too to discourage closing client as soon as a hostile appears in local.

Risk has been diminished so much now by just logging the client.

While I have had people log off while I've attacked them, I have almost ALWAYS been able to kill them anyway, so I don't get what the big whine is all about.

By the same token, my internet connection is not the most stable in the world and hardly a day goes by where my connection doesn't just drop.

I try to log back in immediately. Sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't...

So I for one am very thankful that the present system leaves me in space for a bit, but then warps me off.

Consequently, I don't think the game mechanic needs to be changed, but I wish corps/pilots out there would just not use this hugely lame tactic.

PVP is pretty stupid in the first place. Very Happy
Logging off works only without aggression so you have to decide befor comitting to combat what to do.

I am getting confused. I thought with the new patch that if you ctrl+q even when non agressed, you warp random and the ship stays in game for 15 minutes, enabling the potentail threat to scan you down. Have I got this wrong ?

I solo hunt in 0.0 with an AF, fitting a probe launcher would make my setup a bit iffy ugh and btw please don't be under the illusion this problem is just at gate camps, I've been in a number of 1 v 1 situations where people have logged, I don't have an insta lock setup, many people just log when you start targeting not giving you enough time to aggress.

all i want is the game to work as it is, its not anyone whining its the fact for say the dictor bubbles that they do not hold people that log off, i just want at least this issue fixed and sad that kali did not fix it at all!! its a joke and waste of a probe to launch when they just log off, dictor pilots have to have scramblers on there ships which is completely ironic Rolling Eyes

and yes ctrl+q should let your ship stay for like 5 sec or something close to that before it kicks into auto and warps the player off... ccp could use ping methods to see how to logoff the char, the ctrl q should be built into the game, and or a command has to be sent before the game is closed/terminated
