Hello:
__I was wondering if anyone knows how to auto-stack items coming into the cargo-hold. It hasn't gotten tedious enough to stack the loot manually, but there are some problems when we are talking about ammo/crystals.

__Over the course of a mission, I generally find that the cargohold becomes filled with loot, and it becomes bothersome to stack and sort just so I can locate my ammo/crystals, as I switch them in and out a lot during the mission to fit range and damage resistance requirements.

__I know an obvious solution to this, and that is to carry a container at all times and segregate ammo/crystals from the rest of the cargohold; however this only alleviates the sorting/stacking problem aforementioned, but not solve it.

Proposed solution:
1. Be able to partition the cargo hold into loot/equipment. Anything unloaded from the weapons automatically goes to the equipment partition and is stacked, or better if able to be locked in specifically assigned slots.

2. CTRL+SHIFT+double click any launcher/turret automatically deactivates it and unload the ammo/crystal to the equipment partition, sorted and stacked, when it finishes cycling.

3. CTRL+SHIFT+double click any ammo/crystal in the equipment partition automatically loads it into the first fitting, empty launcher/turret.

4. Please provide keyboard alternatives to the mouse commands above.

And now after re-reading it I feel like an idiot. I don't know if we really need a feature like that. The right click < stack all seems to work fine for me,

Interesting ideas, I know you can right click -> stack all and it will stack anything thats stackable. I think charges and ammo goes to the top of the cargo hold window when you close and reopen? Maybe not Sad

__I can see this is probably far from the top of the list of priorities; it is an idea.

__To be honest, I am an amarr pilot, and I change crystals two, three, and sometimes four times for every enemy I fight: e.g. at 45 km I use the microwaves, and when it closes to 30 km I switch to standard, 22 km I start using x-ray, and finally at 16 km I switch to gamma and pray I can kill it before it gets too close for me to track. It is a lot of fun. Very Happy

__What is not fun, is the unloading/reloading mechanisms associated. I have used projectiles before on my minmitar, and I have this problem also, although no where near as bad: the artillery/ACs load so slow I could take a shower, AND then sort the cargo hold before it is finished, so I am generally not pressed for time when adjusting damage types and ranges. But I find that with lasers, I have one crystal per turret and if they don't autostack, I have about 16 crystals in my cargohold, somewhere, while I am frantically judging my distance from the enemy and trying to switch my crystals so I can get a better shot.

__Would it help all of us as much as it will me? Probably not. Would you like it, I'd bet you will

Why do you need to have the Cargo bay open to switch crystals? What's wrong with just right-clicking the gun and selecting a different crystal?

Just wondering,

__Hmm, I thought about this, and I disagree Razz It is not so much of a matter of laziness as a meaningless chore (repetitive chore, at at) that detracts from combat. If you believe that combat is about who can sort his cargohold the fastest and still have time to manage the other variables like speed, direction, which modules are activate or not, etc, then we can agree to disagree. But how is sorting the cargo hold in any way part of combat; should it be?

__P.S. I would have less of a problem with this if I were able to adjust my speed, pitch/yaw from keyboard, and I have tried the speed shortcuts from the setup options. They do not work for me, nor do half of the items on that shortcut list. It is possible that I am trying to micromanage too much and this is the straw that breaks my back. But I am old school, ya'know, I prefer to use both the keyboard and the mouse, and not just 'left-click' 'right-click'.

click-click.

I set the view options to be a table/list, and then sort by module type. Keeps all my ammo at the top and everything else under it. It's not perfect, but I hardly see a need to re-engineer game mechanics to make it easier.

surely if you have an auto stack feature, when you want to seperate a stack it will auto stack again...
if it was restricted to the times when new items are entered into the cargo hold, what about times when you dont want them stacked? or if you have 2 stacks of the same item and a new third stack enters what happends to the two you wanted as they were?

on another point, why are you wasting you mouse movements dragging your crystals from your cargo instead of right clicking the hardpoint?..

it works fine just like it is for most people.

__My ignorance. Thank you, problem largely solved.

__Is there a way to switch to an ammo set? Like say, load all of my launchers/turrets of the same type with the same ammo, or unload all launchers/turrets of the same type?

__Thanks. I simply overlooked this, having always dragged the crystals/ammo to and fro the cargo hold.

Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and admit a few this:

1) I'm in my mid 30s. My reflexes are NOT that fast anymore, and I realize this every time I fire up a few rounds of Battlefield 2. I have to play smarter, because I can't play faster anymore.

2) The EVE interface could really use some work. I know this comparison will get flamed to no end, but you have to compare EVE's clunky and completely unchangable interface to something MUCH more user friendly, such as Guild Wars or World of Warcraft. Sure, they're completely different games, but the fact that the users can modify their own interface makes it much easier for each person to be able to find something that they like.

3) BECAUSE there are so many Right-click / drop-down-menu commands, I've ended up using a keyboard hotkey program that has helped my gameplay considerably.

4) Players use the keyboard! There is absolutely NO reason that the keyboard should be locked into a chat-only functionality. And no: Nobody likes having to press Ctrl-Alt-Shift something for a simple command that should be able to be remapped to whatever we want it to.

Just getting my rant on. . .

2) yes, customizability please.

3) Ah yes, I have had many problems with the drop down menu, I like a senstive mouse movement for other things, but it makes navigating a 3-depth menu -> sub-menu -> sub-sub-menu precarious. One slip and I have to restart the process. Turning down my mouse sensitivity reduces my playability in other areas (I use a widescreen, there is a lot of screen to cover)

__What is this keyboard hotkey program you use? Might I have a suggestion?

(4) I agree also, I suggested ctrl, alt, etc because they are multipliers to accessible key combinations, and would increase the number of combinations that one can use in one hand, invaluable in some games where dragging the left hand to the right portion of the keyboard and away from home keys becomes a bother due to much repeated use.

P.S. yes, I am starting my paragraphs with _s to indent. It improves readability in my book and is proper style (old school). I am frustrated by the forum engine's blatant disregard for style in chomping off my explicitly placed whitespace characters and am using _s in protest.

Edit: spelling.

Not "proper" but rather "old fashioned". Reading a contemporary style guide would show that block format has been preferred since at least the 1980's over indented formats for paragraphs.

If you attended primary school in the 60's or 70's, I can see where it would be annoying.

You see, it is not annoying when block format is employed by others, for it is their choice. It bothers me when I choose to indent my paragraphs and it doesn't come out that way. WYSINWYG (what you see is not what you get) and all that, as opposed to WYSIWYG.

I can also indent my paragraphs with & nbsp ; but that was not the point I was making, heh.

Using 3rd party software is against the eula afaik.
