I bet this is an old idea but I can not recall having seen it discussed anywhere.

I would be willing to insure a Gist B XL Shield booster of that option were available since it costs more than the ship I fly.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Sure. The recycle value of that module is around 100k, you can insure it for 100k.

Ship insurance is to much imo, nevermind module insurance.

Tis all pixals, if you lose it oh well, go get another one buddy.

Painful ship loss makes for good PvP and Politics. No change needed IMHO.

But more importantly, if you could insure a module for whatever you wanted, the system would be extremely exploitable.

stations insure your modules.

remove modules from stations, you automatically invalidate any warranties

Nope. There should be risk in useing expensive mods. Because they are rare and very powerful.

You don't have to use a mod on the ship that costs more than the ship. If you want to do so then you have to RISK loosing it. You could just use nothing on the ship then when you die you won't loose anything...

Even if they could insure those ultra expensive modules. What's the mineral cost of something like that? I'd imagine that insuring a super rare and expensive mod would have about the same effect as insuring a T2 ship. You might replace a fancy bolt on your ship for all the money you'd get out of the insurance.

I offer a service that might be of some use to you... if you don't like fitting modules that are more expensive than your ship, I am willing to sell you a ship at a price which is greater than the cost of the modules you are fitting on it.

Don't want to fit a 300m module on a 100m Raven? Now you don't have to! Just send me an evemail and I'll gladly sell you a 350m Raven!! Act fast because supplies are limited.
