I'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug but tonight while playing I was running into queue's trying to jump from system to system.

I have never really complained about a game bug or feature but if this is inteneded then to me EvE is not playable. I have spent 30 minutes waiting for this queue to allow me into a system and there was only 14 in that system.

I certainly hope this is just a bug that will be fixed.

Thanks for reading

Traffic Control has given me some laughs though.

I warp to a get, flashing all red with a 10 mil bounty. 7 guys on it all warp off as soon as they see me ^.^!

Happens every time >.>

Well I'm sad this is going on in EvE but at least I'm not alone in the pain of being locked in a system with 10 people.

This a feature that "accidently" went active with the patch and the devs have decided to leave turned on.

From what I've read it seems like the nodes are automaticly adjusting to the degree of traffic in the system. If a system with little traffic suddenly has a lot of people go through it node struggles to keep up with the new load.

Of course what I said is probably all wrong and I'm talking out of my arse.

What's weird is that it doesn't even work. While I was jumping to Jita, it said I had to wait 2.5 minutes. My auto-pilot ended up orbiting the gate(To wait I would imagine), so I got impatient and manually jumped. All I waited was about 5 seconds and I went right through.

Every time? Didn't we just engage kill you within the past 24 hours?

Anyway, this whole traffic control thing bothers me, it seems like a case of the cure being far worse than the disease.

Yup, this is ******ed. I was expecting it to be removed in yesterday's downtime but it's still there.

Queuing to log on in Lonetrek now, queuing to jump into systems.

I'm with the OP, if this continues I won't.

I decided to undock last night, first jump i come to i jump fine, i meet with a corp mate, we both jump fine, then the next 6 jumps which were all empty i had to wait:

3 minutes: Queue #1
6 minutes: Queue #2

Unacceptable. I can understand in high-sec and peak times maybe it's needed, but seriously, low-sec metropolis? Neutral

It really complicates fast moving PvP gangs.

If you are getting chased and need to make a hasty retreat it is pretty ridiculous to get caught on a gate. By the time you realize what's happening and align towards a safespot you could very easily be tackled or have an interdictor bubble dropped on you.

It is bad enough for this to happen for Empire wars, but in 0.0 where there aren't many people per system it is just plain silly.

And I haven't seen this yet, but I imagine that low-sec gate campers are having an absolute field day as well.

Does manual activation of the gate also put you in the queue or not?

I can't even log into EVE. Its telling me that the cluster is full (with 12,038 people Rolling Eyes) and I am 6th in queue to log in.

Now everything else I can deal with.....but not being able to log in at all? Thats a bit much. Evil or Very Mad

Well, basicly this srewed up all pvp in eve.
Que's for empty systems, it's stupid.

Good thing most of the vets have rank 10+ skills they can train to lvl 5.
As I expect loadsa breaks if this isn't gonna change soon.

For me, I got patience to a point. This sure makes the game boring as hell. Any PvP gangs willing to go on a trip? Guess not many atm.

Maybe it's time for some drastic solutions..
Remove all bookmarks and make instawarping possible. Forget about trial-accounts till server is running smooth for a change. 10% less serverload due no trials would help a little I guess (assuming there is 3k trials)

No more content patches till server is running smooth. I'm not saying those devs should start working on decoding bugs or whatever, but creating new things always brings in new bugs, so let them work on content and delay the implementing till the server runs ok for 1 month smooth. Gives them time to make things even more beautifull/exciting.

Maybe, just maybe, spend a little more resources on server stability and maintenance, same goes for bugfixing. Tho I realise I can't look in the ISK wallet of CCP.

To make it complete, try to get like 50 more mods for the help channels, since every1 and there idiotic motherinlaw give the advice to file a petition in there as soon as the question is more complicated than 1+1=?

Petitions are a joke atm and reflect the way CCP is walking behind the project, 3-4 weeks queue for a petition answer, The reason for that is not incompetence of the current GM's, but the endless streams of petitions cause of server instability and the general feeling that every loss in PvP/PvE should be petitioned.

The game is great, but looks like it's growing outta control atm.

Have fun fixing the mess

I got podkilled twice trying to get into empire, and the first time there wasn't even a camp, just a hostile came through while I was queued, and I wasn't sure if he could attack as there had been another hostile on the gate the whole time who didn't.
Been stuck unable to carry on my usual activities in Eve for 2 days because the camps were so much more powerful with the queuing system on their side (and funnily enough I've seen more camps in my area in the last two days than I did in the previous 2 weeks).
Was about to clone jump across empire just to get out of 0.0 when I finally got through last night.

If the devs really are leaving this turned on my current moneymaking schemes will become unfeasible, but that's ok because gatecamping will become teh easy in the right areas. YARRRR!!

This needs to get fixed today, the problem is only going to get worse over the weekend.

It took me quarter of an hour to go through two (0.0) gates last night, in that time my carebear friends were being harassed by a hostile, unable to get help from myself (or anyone else) or leave the system because the gates were all queued to hell. This was the most frustrating and irritating 15mins of my entire time playing eve.

This is totally unaceptable, and until it is fixed the game is simply not worth my time.

I agree this bug is one hell of a game breaking *** ,i was on metropolis yesterday and 'am red flashing and i had to wait four minutes to pass true a gate with pirate hunters on local ...

I don't think that's what it means. When it says you have been cleared to jump within 2 minutes 30 seconds, it means that you are at the front of the queue, and have that long to get back to the gate and jump before you lose your place.

Btw, has anyone tried warping away from the gate while you're in a queue, or even just moving back out of jump range? What I suspect will happen is that you stay in the queue, so instead of sitting on the gate like a lemon, you might be able to warp off to a safe, wait for your clearance, then warp back and run for the gate. Not ideal, but better than sitting there as a target for 5 minutes.

Well I know last night I tried warping to another gate and tried to enter a diffrent system and got the same message about not being able to jump. Apparently this system is like a penalty box and you are stuck there until the server lets you leave.

On a side note I tried waiting in a station until I got the 3 minute timer and basically it seems you have to stay around the gate or you loose your place in line. I tried manually jumping during this time and even though I was number one I was unable to.

I can't begin to describe the level of frustration I experianced trying to travel three jumps in low sec with only 14 in local.

For me this make EvE unplayable and basically no fun. If a game I pay to enjoy is causes this much tedium then I will no longer pay to play this game. This is not a threat or an attempt to force a dev response just a simple statement of how bad I feel this change is. I enjoy to PvP in 0.0 and like others have said this change kills that along with more boring areas such as mission running or hauling.

Can you imagine a freighter in low sec waiting for it's magic ticket to enter. lol

I hope CCP rethinks ths idea as it removes the wonderful open gameplay of EvE.

It's a game breaker alright.

There's only so far you can push the "we're the only MMOG with 28k users in an unsharded universe" when this queuing system is almost sharding by stealth.

Sadly I don't know the answer to it.

Tighten the code? CCP hire a leading expert to code in Assembly rather than Python for the top 1% speed critical stuff? Dunno the insides of the game well enough to do anything other than have a wild stab in the dark (*)

(*) Which incidentally is what you'll be getting Baldrick if you don't shut up. (C) Edmund Blackadder.

Well I hope this issue will be addressed and if enough players who think this is a problem speak up maybe it will be addressed.

I certainly hope so as I enjoyed EvE and have faith the devs will see the light and turn this horrible game breaking feature off.

Well, perhaps this is reducing lag, albeit through an unintended mechanism: player attrition. With a short exception last night, all I've done is log on to check/change skills. Multiply that times 5K people who get ****ed off at this, and voila, lag gets better. Mad

Downtime is not the problem. The problem is the queue's between changing nodes if one has reached a certain level of capacity. This was only supposed to be in effect on the Chinese Serenity server, which was where they beta tested the dragon code. The problem was that once we moved the patch from the serenity beta, some of the chinese only code was still active on the tranquility server.

I dont know how the dev's stand on this problem though.
