It would make navigating seriously more easy if there was both an approach and retreat command. Basically you could navigate exactly where you wanted to....

Retreat to where? How would it now? What if it retreated towards an asteroid ad you got stuck in it?

If you want to retreat look away from the target and double click in that space...

bleh great answer socks why even have a autopilot or the approach command, its a reasonable suggestion.

I actually like this idea. Move directly away from your target.

hey tabius drop this in the idea lab forum ... i also would like this, say in a pvp fight u want to get away from someone, retreat would send you directly away from the target same way as approach goes directly toward it.

s0cks, it would "retreat" in a 180 degree direction from your target ... same way as approach works, but in the opposite direction.

Personally, I find that a "Get the F**K outta here", or GTFOH, command would be MOST useful.

Especially while AFK mining in an indy!Confused

Retreat? There's no such thing, you're just approaching something in the opposite direction.

i was actually wondering why this wasnt an option the other day when i was attacking npc pirates.. i had approached the npc to close for my guns to fire effectivly and i had no way to back off.

there is a command, its called keep at range... only problem is that they need to make the range increments more realistic... like they did with orbit.

LaneHacker, the French don't retreat, they surrender. It's a good idea since turning the camera around and double clicking is a bit time consuming when your in the middle of combat.

Swivel the camera and doubleclick in space. Voila, instant retreat!

Try it with a bship, and you'll be looking at a good minute of turning about, tho Confused
